Prone to frozen digits? Consider mittens. Not only to your fingers stay warmer by keeping them all together, but mittens also allow you to slip a hand-warmer all the way inside to keep finger tips warm. If you plan on skiing or snowboarding the morning before your return flights, ask the front desk team at your hotel if the hotel offers changing rooms and showers for you to use. Most hotels do offer this service! Its hard to spot celebrities on the slopes because of the bulky ski-wear and goggles, but celebrity sightings are common down at the base. Ask around and you just may find yourself shopping, dining or clubbing alongside a Hollywood hip-ster. Around 3:00 pm, when the shadows get long and your legs are getting shaky, do not beeline for the hot tub without first stopping to check out the base area après ski scene! Our favorites include: sipping a margarita from a slopeside sundeck in Vail, or noshing on sushi nachos in Aspen, or enjoying live music at an Irish pub in Whistler. Après is the best time to unwind and tell ski stories from the day. Rookie mistake: too much sock! Don't double up. In fact, your feet will stay warmer if you wear a "smart-sock" one with the ability of wick away moisture from your skin. Available for sale for less than $10 at any ski shop, ski socks are thinner than cotton and wool, so in addition to staying dry, you'll be much more comfortable in your ski boots. These days valet parking applies to both your SUV rental and your skis and snowboard! At many resorts, helpful attendants will greet you at the base of the slopes to trade you a hot cocoa for your equipment. The next morning, ease into the day with warmed boots and equipment set out waiting for you. Did you know that most condominiums can organize grocery shopping services that will shop off your grocery list to stock the kitchen of your condominium? Ski or snowboard all day, then return to the comfort of your condo and a stocked kitchen of snacks, cold beer and goodies waiting for you. Mountain Berry Facial or Alpine Body Glow? Both, please! World class mountain spa menus are inspired by their Rocky Mountain surroundings offering nourishing body treatments and relaxing after-ski soothers. Appointments can book up quickly, make reservations on day-1 of your trip, you'll be glad you did by day 3! Some of the best spas are found in Aspen, Whistler, Vail, Beaver Creek and Snowbird. |
