Greater Tampa Area (Tampa / St Pete / Clearwater)

Beach bums and culture cravers: Prepare for relocation. Seriously, wave goodbye to the neighbors because, odds are, you’ll never want to leave the Greater Tampa Area.

What to do in Greater Tampa?

Cozy cities rich in culture, pulsing with vibrant nightlife and professional sporting events – ahh, yes, the Greater Tampa Area has the best of everything. Treat your toes to the sand of a different beach each day and indulge in a new entertainment option every night.

The old world southern charm of Tampa will make anyone feel at home and it’s a must-visit for travelers interested in the performing arts and professional sports.

A day in Tampa might include a round of golf (don’t worry, non-professionals are invited, too), a stroll through Ybor City for fine hand-rolled cigars, followed by a waterfront cruise with a view of playful dolphins and finally a Broadway show at the Straz Center. And that’s just a typical Tuesday.

Travel Tip

Cheer and shout on the coasters at Busch Gardens or catch a Buccaneers football game or a Lightning hockey.

St. Petersburg

Who wouldn’t want to visit “Sunshine City”? Nicknamed for its vacation-friendly forecasts, St. Petersburg is home to a plethora of independent hotels and cozy “mom and pop” establishments.

Nature enthusiasts visiting St. Petersburg will want to add Fort Desoto Park to the itinerary. Its pristine, untouched landscape is protected and remains picture-perfect. Caladesi Island State Park is another must-visit for its white sand beaches. No photo filters necessary.

Sports fans can catch a Rays baseball game or plan a trip for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, which runs the streets in early spring.

Travel Tip

For a uniquely historical stay, book a room at The Vinoy® Renaissance, home to WWI history and a great Golf Club.

You can’t slow down in Clearwater. It’s an active area that’s been voted the best beach city in the U.S. time and time again – and for darn good reason. Clearwater’s beach scene isn’t just about sitting in the sand. We recommend hopping on the Dolphin Racer speedboat adventure or taking the family on Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise.

For more close encounters of the sea creature kind, plan a visit to Clearwater Marine Aquarium, home to the famously rescued dolphins, Winter and Hope. Tarpon Springs, a Greek fishing village located just north of Clearwater, is also worth a trip to learn about the local sponge harvesting and sample the Greek restaurants and markets.

If you’re looking for nightlife, the city center has plenty to offer, but Sunsets at Pier 60's nightly festival is the ultimate place to enjoy a colorful evening and snap some frame-worthy photos.
