Costa Rica Most dive sites explore the volcanic rock formations within a half hour boat trip of the Flaming-Coco area. Soft corals are common, but not as abundant as those in the Caribbean. Cozumel Cozumel is home to a variety of underwater locations for all experience dive levels. The remains of an old Convair airplane are now home to a large assortment of Caribbean reef crabs, shrimps and other sea life. A sunken barge, overgrown with coral and marine life, makes a superb night dive. Dive photographers will delight to the large green moray eels and schools of black, Nassau and other large grouper. Aruba Aruba's sheltered southwestern coastline makes for some of the best diving in the world making it a perfect dive vacation destination. The wreck of the historic California, with its large coral formations and abundance of tropical fish, is ideal for underwater photography. The 100-year-old California is remembered as the ship that received the S.O.S. signals sent from the doomed Titanic.
The Pedernales, an oil tanker torpedoed by a WW II German submarine, is a paradise for beginning scuba divers. The wreck is spread out between coral formations, allowing divers to view cabins, wash basins, lavatories and more. Expect to see groupers and angel fish while diving the Pedernales.
One of the best dives in Aruba is the wreck of an old tugboat that's set amid magnificent formations of brain, star and sheet coral.
