  Great stay at Honua Kai Konea!!

  We stayed in unit 506 at the Honua Kai Konea tower Sept 19-23 2026. We loved being in that unit because it had both a limited ocean view and a full view of the verdant hillside from the lanai balcony. The rooms were perfect for our needs and we really appreciated having the full sized refrigerator for food, drinks, and ice. It was clean, modern and well cared for. The unit provided beach chairs and flotation tubes for the beach and chaise lounges were available poolside. The staff were all considerate and polite although we didn’t need them to do anything. Parking is ample and easy in and out, with multiple elevators to get you close to your unit location. Coming from Florida we are accustomed to dealing with hurricanes and were lucky to arrive after Lowell and before Nolo so we were not impacted at all by weather or the subsequent power outages. It was a great vacation and we highly recommend the Honua Kai resort and this unit in particular.

  Beautiful and scenic

  Such an outstanding resort! Clean and family friendly with everything you need. the pools were great and the ocean/ beach is right there. we went for our anniversary and it was wonderful and would definitely recommend.

  Cleanliness leaves much to be desired

  I’m writing from day two of our five day trip and plan on updating at the end. But so far I’m pretty underwhelmed. Checkin was easy, and valet is complimentary which I liked. They upgraded us to an ocean view from a partial ocean view, although I’d hate to see what a partial view is, since we really only have an ocean view if we’re on the balcony right at the edge of it. I was surprised at check in that the over 4k we’d prepaid didn’t include a cleaning fee. They told me it’d be over $800 more at the end of our stay. We have a two bed two bath unit- but they don’t come do housekeeping for your entire stay. We’ve washed our own towels in room and taken out our own trash. Even so the $800 wouldn’t bother me as much if the room were clean. I’m shocked at how filthy it is. The “master” shower (which is very small) has mold in the grout, there was an actual blood smear on the wall of our kids bathroom, doors are covered with grimey finger and hand prints, and the light switches have a layer of grime that tells me this place hasn’t seen a deep clean in a LONG time. The staff is very kind and polite, however weve called multiple times for things (pillows and sheets because when we arrived one bed was only half made) and only twice out of four times have they actually shown up. I have a feeling they’re quite understaffed so have tried to be understanding. The pool areas are clean and well spaced out. This place is great for kids. Each unit seems to be different and I was surprised to learn some are MUCH nicer and have better amenities. One family told us theirs came with beach gear, chairs and umbrellas, pool toys and children’s floaties. We would have LOVED that but our unit had none of it. Overall this is a very family friendly resort but I think I’d avoid it if you’re a clean freak (I am- and the cleanliness level really bothers me).

  Beautiful but a down side too…

  Pros: Resort was very beautiful and had a chill vibe to it. Staff were welcoming and very accommodating. View was amazing! Cons: Cockroaches in room; freaked me out! One crawled on me in bed at night. Slept with the lights on the entire rest of trip:(

  Great value, not luxury, but close to it

  We rented a two bedroom/two bath condo through Maui Resort Rentals. This is really like staying at a condo within a hotel. You get the benefits of pool towel service, on site restaurants/stores, valet parking, a bell desk etc with the space of the condo. Overall the property is stunning. The pools provided lots of options and space - we never had to fight for beach chairs and the pool service from Dukes is a wonderful addition. Tip - If you grab a pool chair on that side of the resort you will have live music throughout the day! The beach is perfection. If you go during whale season you can see them right from shore. You will also see sea turtles and maybe a sea lion (or seal, not sure which). Our rental came with 4 beach chairs and a cooler. The condo itself was very spacious, and we loved the huge sliding glass doors and outdoor seating. The interior condos do feel like a fishbowl though and next time I would opt for an exterior condo with a mountain view over interior with ocean. The biggest downside here is that you can't really control for the quality of the apartment/condo you are renting since they are managed by so many different companies. Ours had a lot of minor issues like a dishwasher that barely worked, a very, very dryer, some staining on the carpet etc.
