Pros: Resort was very beautiful and had a chill vibe to it. Staff were welcoming and very accommodating. View was amazing! Cons: Cockroaches in room; freaked me out! One crawled on me in bed at night. Slept with the lights on the entire rest of trip:(

Aug 21, 2026Great value, not luxury, but close to it
We rented a two bedroom/two bath condo through Maui Resort Rentals. This is really like staying at a condo within a hotel. You get the benefits of pool towel service, on site restaurants/stores, valet parking, a bell desk etc with the space of the condo. Overall the property is stunning. The pools provided lots of options and space - we never had to fight for beach chairs and the pool service from Dukes is a wonderful addition. Tip - If you grab a pool chair on that side of the resort you will have live music throughout the day! The beach is perfection. If you go during whale season you can see them right from shore. You will also see sea turtles and maybe a sea lion (or seal, not sure which). Our rental came with 4 beach chairs and a cooler. The condo itself was very spacious, and we loved the huge sliding glass doors and outdoor seating. The interior condos do feel like a fishbowl though and next time I would opt for an exterior condo with a mountain view over interior with ocean. The biggest downside here is that you can't really control for the quality of the apartment/condo you are renting since they are managed by so many different companies. Ours had a lot of minor issues like a dishwasher that barely worked, a very, very dryer, some staining on the carpet etc.

We visited with extended family with various needs and everyone found their perfect condo. We loved our 2-bed/2 bath with a gorgeous balcony where all of the family could gather for take-in meals and games in the evening. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen and laundry were so helpful. The pools were awesome and we could always find some chairs. Beach access was perfect and we loved being directly on the Kaanapali beach trail (some of us did the walk down to Black Beach for snorkeling, which was amazing). Parking was easy, check-in and out was easy, everything was easy! And Duke's was delicious and we loved getting take-out and eating on our balcony. We would definitely stay here every time we visit.

GREAT stay at Honua Kai
Our family of six stayed here for ten nights. We had a great experience. We rented through KBM Resorts. The condo was in great shape. We cooked some meals, including using the grills. We enjoyed snorkeling near the resort. The pool area was beautiful. It was a short walk to a food truck park and we ate there a few times. The traffic was not a problem traveling from here to other spots we visited. I’d stay here again.

Great resort
The Hanua Kai resort has been our go to vacation spot on Maui for the past 25 years and has always met our highest expectations. Great for families with easy access to all activities and a Dukes restaurant on site. Great resort!.
