25th anniversary getaway
We went for our 25th anniversary - left the kids at home. We were a bit concerned over prior reviews around strikes, service, etc. We had an excellent experience. Our room was a deluxe ocean front room and the view was spectacular. We ate at the Lava restaurant regularly for breakfast and one dinner. Service can be on 'island time' at times, but the staff are great. The location couldn't be better and we would definitely stay again. There are a lot of families with kids at this resort, but this wasn't a concern for us.

AWFUL!
Visit Hawaii yearly past 20. Longtime Marriott owners, so thought we would do 4 days here since the merge. BAD IDEA! NOT on par w/our ownership level in any way, shape or form w/Marriott quality! "Villa" was a tiny tiny "living room" w/old, uncomfortable, outdated sofabed & equally uncomfortable chair. NO table anywhere to eat! No place to put groceries, either. BTW, coffee maker but NO coffee filters, necessitating a trip to market! Toaster & dishwasher didn't work. "Bathroom" was a closet-sized shower to the left of the entry door - vanity was adjacent to the kitchen, separated by a decorative wall. Positively NO PLACE to put luggage! In fact, my husband had to hang his clothes in the broom closet by the entry door. Carpet outdated & worn. Spent our 4 nights stumbling over open suitcases in the "living room." Bedroom was quiet, cool & comfy bed BUT NO PLACE to put suitcases & only tiny wardrobe - not lighted - for a few hanging things. Lanai was spacious but horribly uncomfortable chairs. View was garden & rooms other side. The pretty side of this place was across the street on the hotel side. The positives: beautiful sunsets on hotel side. Spacious parking. Working AC that keeps master BR cool & comfy, quiet. Warm & inviting staff. That's it! Have NEVER posted a review this negative, but given the experience, it's more than appropriate. $ for $, this Sheraton "timeshare villa" is severely substandard to Marriott quality. Comparatively, we spent the remaining 4 nights in Princeville at The Westin and it was superb in every way! IMO, this resort may be perfect for those wanting only beachtime across the street and eating out. Other than that, that's it! Waste of 4 nights!

Horrible experience
Stayed here after an amazing experience at Sheraton Maui. Safe to say they are NOT consistent. Started with being told our room was reserved for someone else and forced to get another room. And only a $50 dinner comp for this? Find out that was just a lie and our room wasn’t ready… the entire stay was unpleasant. The restaurant by the pool was horrible service every single day with subpar overpriced food. The restaurant for dinner is only open Thursday - Sunday maybe? would never stay here again, the management offered zero help with just a “sorry” and nothing more.

Paradise on the beach
Wonderful, peaceful paradise on the beach. We loved this resort. The grounds were stunning, the pools were inviting & the people were absolutely lovely. There is a private beach with stunning clear water for swimming & surfing. We even had a Hawaiian Monk Seal come up & sleep on the beach just feet away from us. Lava’s restaurant had the best food. We recommend the nachos, island salad with mahi mahi & uncle’s burger after a long day at the beach or pool. Absolutely loved our stay here. We hope to be back in the future.

Beautiful view
We had a very beautiful room; it was kept very clean. The view of the ocean was unbelievably beautiful. Food at casual restaurant, Lavas, was Ok; good for breakfast. Concierge was very helpful with other restaurants in the area. The hotel was near 2 shopping malls.
