  Awesome Experience!

  The entire experience with Twin Fin was excellent from beginning to end! As I booked with them directly, the prices, amenities, and rules (no smoking/vaping in rooms) were clearly explained before I made my deposit. The check in process was straightforward and the staff were helpful, which I appreciated after a long flight. Location was awesome as we were close to Diamond Head and steps away from Waikiki Beach! The rooms are a bit dated but everything was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping came every other day, which was perfect for us since we were out exploring most of the time. I had breakfast at Coconut Club every morning (food was great and options to choose different items every day kept it fresh). I enjoyed the beach rentals (3 items per day), free reef safe sunscreen and towels, refillable water bottles, and different restaurants on site! I also really liked that they offered classes such as lei making and ukulele lessons as well. I recommend getting an ocean view room because it was worth the breathtaking view. I was traveling with family (which can sometimes be difficult to coordinate), but everyone at Twin Fin made our experience in Honolulu more enjoyable. Mahalo!

  Comfort with a view

  Our room was very comfortable and quiet. We had a partial ocean view that was stunning. I could see the ocean from my bed. I went to a free stargazing event our first there. Every staff member is friendly and helpful. We had a great vacation. When we come back to Oahu, we'll definitely stay there again.

  Good location but tired & dated

  The best thing about this hotel is the ocean front views are amazing! you must upgrade to an ocean front view room. The location is great, the beach is right infront of the hotel and there is a calm shallow lagoon with a seawall, great for young kids or the other side of the pier is open so you can catch some waves. Lots of restaurants and shops as you walk down the boulevard to the busier end of waikiki. There is a surf shop on the ground floor of the hotel where you can rent beach stuff. You get 3 items for free if staying at the hotel so you can get fold up chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards etc. The lift system takes a bit of getting used too, you type the floor you want on the keypad in the lobby and it tells you which lift to get in but there are no buttons in the lift so if someone walks into your lift they can only go to your floor. The rooms and hotel in general are quite dated. Looks like its been painted recently but it still felt old and tired. Shower was pretty powerful though. I think for the price its a good deal but would rate it a 3* hotel.

  Ridiculous charges, overworked staff.

  We’ve stayed here before, when it was the Aston Waikiki. Nothing has changed except the TVs in the rooms and the inexplicably overpriced fees. One week, two basic rooms, and a single rental car added $1500+ USD to our bill just for parking and ‘resort fees’. $60 per day for parking, and $66+ per day, per room can only be described as ‘gouging’. We paid less to rent a brand new Jeep Rubicon than it did to park it. As others have mentioned, the hotel is close to the beach and has great views. The building is old and not well taken care of. It is understaffed and the staff seem overwhelmed and overworked. We found so many other places in Waikiki where the staff were pleasant and helpful. Would not recommend, nor would I stay again.

  Dissatisfied

  Disappointed by an Unexpected $500 Smoking Charge My husband and I recently stayed here and unfortunately had a very frustrating experience. We were informed before and during our stay that smoking in the room or on the balcony would result in a $500 charge, so we were fully aware of the policy and respected it. However, we were still charged $500 for allegedly smoking, even though neither my husband nor I smoke and there was absolutely no smoking in our room or on the balcony. We were told the charge was based on an air-quality/smoke detection system and that the charges are handled through a third party. We were given the option to dispute it, but the process can take time, which makes the situation even more frustrating. I completely understand charging guests who actually violate the smoking policy. My issue is being charged for something we did not do. Afterward, I found other guests online describing similar experiences, and I wish I had seen those reviews before booking. Aside from this issue, the hotel is somewhat dated and could use some updating. Our room did not have a microwave, but it did have a coffee maker and mini-fridge. The balcony view was beautiful and definitely a highlight of our stay. Overall, the unexpected $500 charge significantly affected our experience. I would recommend that future guests read recent reviews and understand the smoking policy and associated charges before booking.
