  Overall a fun experience

  All adult sibling trip. Some initial rooming issues but eventually worked out. Rooms themselves were fine but the design was definitely more geared towards couples than families given the lack of privacy separating the room from the bathroom. You’ll see large iguanas outside (fun!) and geckos inside (+/-). The food was a mixed bag…the highlight has to go to lady who makes the omelettes and pancakes and I apologize for forgetting her name but they were amazing and the most consistent meal we had. The buffet options and the room service - some days were good and some days were bad - the same dish could change in quality and taste day to day especially the room service which on several occasions had long waits and did not bring the right/complete order. The free activities were good! Ed was great for our Spanish lesson and amazing as a snorkeling tour guide. He free dove to the bottom multiple times to bring up interesting things from the sea floor (and of course returned them) Painting was fun with Biangie - was impromptu and made for our favorite souvenir from the trip. Kayaking with Cherry was a fun challenge. The Fire Show was pretty good and we had a good time with karaoke. Had great massages by Claudia and Noelia! Well worth the cost!

  Nice Boutique Hotel

  Nice hotel but it does look "tired" at times. It's not really a beach hotel as it's on a bay. We didn't really care for the layout as you almost had to have a shuttle to go anywhere. We're walkers but with the high heat/humidity your clothes would be total wet. Pool was cloudy from heavy use on some days. Rooms were nice and housekeeping did a good job. Entertainment was pretty good for the size of the hotel. It was hard to know what events were going on because they didn't really announce them well. Sure, they have a TV/Board but things changed. We booked excursions in advance through other companies and they were great. You could do them at the hotel, but we chose to do them with our vacation.

  Relaxing 50th birthday celebration

  Booked this resort to celebrate our 50th birthday with besties. We were looking for relaxation, not a loud nightlife scene, and it was exactly what we hoped! The staff are friendly, the scenery is beautiful, and it was an overall fantastic experience. One note: room service is great and very prompt!

  Love Costa Rica, Amazing tours!!

  We had a wonderful stay at Secrets Papagayo. The resort is surrounded by beautiful tropical scenery and has a very peaceful vibe. The pools were never crowded, and dining was easy with no long waits, the Japanese restaurant was our favorite. The Barefoot Grill is a great lunch option, and the drinks were always fresh and well prepared. The staff truly make the difference friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. Evening shows were enjoyable and well done. We also wanted to explore beyond the resort, and Nexttripcr.com helped us arrange private tours and transportation. Everything was smooth and well organized, including Rain forest experience, fishing, and Rincon de la vieja volcano hike. Highly recommend both Secrets Papagayo and NextTripCR. Pura vida!

  Spiritual retreat with nature!

  Before we arrived, I wasn't sure what to expect after reading reviews and looking at posted photos. Once we arrived, Secrets Papagayo's uniqueness really surprised me. It fits perfectly into its jungle and wildlife setting. Though it’s an older resort, we had a wonderful, comfortable, and relaxing stay. The bungalows nestled within the resort's beautiful natural surroundings looked picture-perfect. My days were filled with adventures—walking the steep hills, watching sunrises, and even kayaking on Papagayo Bay. Walking around the resort was breathtaking and became my daily workout. We were able to upgrade to the Preferred Honeymoon Suite on our fourth day, which made the resort views even more spectacular. Truly magical. I’m grateful to Joseph Mora, the concierge manager, for making our stay unforgettable. Joseph is amazing—kind, efficient, and very personable. Joseph, Marcos (Bellman ), Fabrico (Himitsu manager), and Christin (manager, Seaside) were all absolutely some of the best. As Impression Black members, we prefer luxurious accommodations; however, Secrets Papagayo stole our hearts. We’ll definitely return next year at the end of the dry season. Our week-long visit to this scenic resort was fabulous, spiritual, and refreshing. What makes this experience exceptional for me is the caring staff who always go the extra mile for their guests.
