Below Expectations
I have enjoyed all of my stays at Accor hotels in multiple countries. I also had extraordinary experiences staying at Fairmont properties in the past and I reached Gold Member Accor status so I chose to stay at the Fairmont Orchid in Waimea, Hawaii for my honeymoon trip at the end of November 2024. I hoped for the advertised 5 star experience for this special trip, which I received with the breakfast buffet at the Orchid Court. Aside from that, the stay fell below expectations. First, I inquired about early check-in when I arrived at around 2 PM. The front desk staff seemed tired and rushed and just said that they will notify me when the room was available. I waited until past 4 PM (standard check-in time) but I still did not hear from them so I went to the front desk to ask about the room. They informed me that the room had been ready for awhile but they forgot to notify me. This was disappointing because I arrived from an early long flight and hoped to be able to rest in the room. I tried to shrug it off because I did not want a negative start to my stay. However, when I walked towards the room, I noticed that the wallpaper in the hallway was stripped and scuffed. Inside the room, metal hardware in the bathroom was rusted, the bathroom fixtures and decor were dated, cobwebs were in all corners of the drawers and shelves, and table and counter tops were sticky. There were minimal amenities in the room-- not even room slippers were available to wear when walking over the dusty floors. Moreover, very few guest activities were complimentary, e.g., the s'mores making kit cost $25 (this was complimentary at the Autograph Collection, Koloa Landing Resort at Poipu in Kauai as of July of this year). I don't usually write reviews but I realized how far this stay fell below 5 star standards when I arrived at the Marriott Vacation Club in Waikiki for the second leg of my honeymoon trip. Even though that hotel is marketed as 2 stars, every single staff member was friendly and welcoming and entire property was modern and spotless with plenty of amenities in the rooms and complimentary activities for guests. I regretted not booking my whole honeymoon trip there or even at a 3 or 4 star Hilton property in the Waikoloa Village just a few miles away from the Fairmont Orchid where I can make use of my Hilton Diamond Member status benefits and pay only a third of the price of the Fairmont Orchid. I hope that my feedback will initiate improvements at this hotel.

Relaxing and Pampered
Family friendly and relaxing. one of our favourite places to visit and we look forward to it every time. We have been coming to this hotel for 19 years and love it! if you like to relax this is your place. It is the best beach for small kids! The Lagoon is great for snorkelling. The hotel shuttle service is perfect to get to the shops and restaurants, we didn't even rent a car.

Amazing stay again this year!
Wonderful stay again this year from start to finish. Received a lovely chocolate platter in room upon arrival which was enjoyed. Ocean view room in the south building on floor 3 had a great view. Service here is outstanding. From the friendly pool maintenance man, Eric. I loved my early morning swims and his friendly greetings every morning. Also at the pool and beach, Erwin and Austin were very quick with service and a blast to talk with and get to know. I enjoyed two amazing massages. One was a Lomi Lomi by Casey at the waterfalls, the other by Merlin by the ocean. I look forward to seeing both again next year and miss them already! Restaurant service was always wonderful including service every morning in the deli by Robert. His smile brightened even the cloudiest mornings. Front desk staff and shop clerks were also wonderful. My main reasons for returning here every year are the wonderful vegetarian food offerings, the incredible staff, the cleanliness of the rooms, great beach to snorkel and swim, back pool and whirlpool open 24 hours, with plenty of towels always available. In addition, a wonderful spa, gorgeous views, great gym, beautifully maintained property and overall great vibes thanks to the staff. I’ll be back next fall when I visit my brother and the island again. Thanks to all for another great stay.

Personable Service
The staff at the Orchid is the secret sauce! The Orchid Court breakfast restaurant is delicious and full of excellent staff! Deborah, the hostess is friendly, accommodating, and personable. Ken, is the master at the egg and omelet bar. No one cooks eggs more masterfully than him. Aileen, the waitress is so personable, accommodating to guests needs and wants, efficient, and totally elevates the dining experience for guests. At the end of our stay we realized when we returned home we would have no power, so the front desk graciously found us two more nights of lodging to extend our stay in a beautiful ocean view room. The setting is gorgeous! We have been returning on an annual basis for these reasons!

Fairmont Orchid-A Hawaiian Paradise
Amazing stay at the Fairmont Orchid! We did a five night stay at the Fairmont, orchid on big Island and when I say that they think about every last detail, it is true. We had the best time sitting by the pool and enjoying the vast property. They even have bicycles available for guests to tour around and check out the more secluded beaches nearby. We had come in order to celebrate our baby moon and they took the time to send up the sweetest gift. It was a onesie with a door hanger saying that a baby was sleeping. It was so thoughtful and unexpected and just made our stay that much more special. We have stayed at several Fairmont’s, and this is by far our favorite!
