  Good honest hotel

  Just spent 9 days as a family of six at the Club Resort Barbados. It is a compact resort with nice grounds and three central swimming pools. Everything was well maintained and very clean. The staff were friendly. The food was good if not gourmet. There was a well equipped gym plus tennis and pickle ball courts. We had three ground floor rooms opening onto the gardens which meant everything was close at hand and accessible. It felt so safe and secure that we didn’t bother to lock the front doors unless we were going off resort. The Sandy lane beach adjacent to the hotel is easy to access and absolutely gorgeous for a swim so well worth any wading through the water to get there. The evening entertainment was also great and this is a very social hotel with capacity for many friendships I would think. Only two criticisms is a resort levy in excess of the official tourist tax at US29 per room per night is too much (and we had to pay x3) plus the wine was not great. The hotel could do with serving a nice crisp provencal rose. All in all this is a nice option for a reasonable value for money vacation on a beautiful Caribbean island. I would certainly recommend.

  Great Hotel

  DO NOT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS We returned yesterday after a 2 week stay and had the most chilled, relaxed time. We were given a ground floor superior garden view room which was spacious, very clean and had everything you needed. The room was a good size with tea and coffee making facilities, a safe and hairdryer and a great view over the pool. The room was cleaned every day to a high standard and towels refreshed. FOOD: For an all inclusive the food was the best I've had in this type of resort, a varied menu with only 2 days being buffet for the evening meal, the rest was table service with 3 choices of starters and mains. If you can't find something you like, you must be a really picky eater. The food was great, tasted amazing and was presented really well. The lamb shank, salmon Linguine and lamb curry being some of our favourites. The waiting staff on the whole were pleasant and went above and beyond with John being bubbly, happy and helpful. The person that stands out most was Nikita the lovely lady who cooked eggs in the morning, always smiling, always willing to cook whatever you wanted, another great asset who probably gets over looked. DRINKS: Great cocktails, wide selection of spirits all served by happy staff, the guys in the Sunset bar stand out for their service. We had coffee every morning served by the lovely Faith, she got to know us so well that she would see my husband making his way over and she would start our order. Always smiling and helpful, a real credit to the hotel. POOL/GARDENS: 3 pools of various depths and plenty of very comfy sun loungers. A space that was cleaned daily and set up ready for the day. The grounds were well kept with beautiful flowers encouraging humming birds. The gardeners all worked really hard and every one of them offered a greeting as we passed. We were lucky enough to see monkeys roaming around too. BEACH: Although the hotel doesn't have a beach, the Sandy Lane beach is just a few steps away offering a stretch of white sand and crystal clear waters, perfect for snorkeling. The marine life was great by the break water where we saw many different species of fish, squid, octopus but sadly no turtles OVER VIEW: As we visited in low season the hotel wasn't overly busy which suited us perfectly as we didn't want to be in huge crowds although we did meet some great people and there were definitely days around the pool that were buzzing. The evening entertainment was varied and fun. Shout out to Vinny who works tirelessly in the background, clearing tables around the bar, talking to guests ensuring they have everything they need and always smiling, a true credit to the hotel. We previously have visited many all inclusive hotels in the Caribbean and can honestly say this is the best due to being smaller, friendly with great food and a chilled vibe. The staff were great, friendly, smiling and helpful. Thank you to everyone at Club Barbados for making our stay the best, we will definitely return ❤️🇧🇧

  Great vacation.

  Barbados isn’t a cheap place for vacation .If you find a good price , it’s worth staying here, next to the beautiful Sandy Lane Beach. We spend a nice holiday at a hotel at that isn’t modern. Friendly service . The room was clean and well maintained. The food and drinks were plentiful, but we aren’t picky. It’s worth visiting the whole island.

  Great stay

  Great stay at this resort. The rooms are cleaned daily and are left immaculate. Although the hotel has a small beach if you go down the steps to the next beach the snorkelling is fantastic. Special thanks to Joshua on reception the day we left. He was multi tasking and although you could see how hot he was getting, he kept smiling. The only feedback would be to perhaps provide gluten free bread in the breakfast buffet.

  Read the negatives before the positives

  For starters, I am not a newcomer to Barbados. I have family here, and I have been to the island many times; it is a very beautiful place, and I do plan on continuing to come here. With that being said, though, The Club Barbados genuinely has to be one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a resort here, and it's actually unfathomable- almost criminal, really that this place manages to get away with being a 4-star hotel. I will give the place its props for location, the drinks, and the view, but that's really where the pros end. The rooms were acceptable for what they were, but the furniture felt outdated, and the bathroom and its layout were small and awkward. The toilet was directly across from the sink and the mirror, and the shower did not have the best drainage, as water pooled by our feet. The position of the door was also quite odd, as it would essentially act as a barrier between the two halves of the bathroom because of how small it was. The food scene was deplorable, and frankly this alone should've been enough to give the place a 1-star review. When we came, we only had 2 places to eat: the Sunset restaurant and the food truck. The other restaurant was undergoing renovations, which I felt impeded a bit of my experience here, considering I'm essentially paying for something I couldn't even get to enjoy. There is absolutely no reason why every single day I sit down to eat in the one restaurant I'm even allowed to go to, I have to do kung-fu against the flies that swarm around me and my plate. Not to mention, the flies also loved buzzing around the actual buffet area where we get the food, and the staff just don't seem to really do anything about this. Sometimes a few birds would also fly into the restaurant, and you could see them picking at scraps left on plates. The food itself was good, and the menu as well, but it did feel very generic, and I feel it could've benefited from more actual Bajan/carribbean options. Which I guess was supposed to be satisfied by the other restaurant, but too bad I couldn't even go to the place! The service was some of the poorest I've experienced at a hotel, ever, really. The staff made sure to make you feel as if you were a burden just for asking questions. Honestly beyond me why so many of them felt the need like I'm the reason they had to come into work today. The front desk staff were some of the most off-putting people I've encountered, and they seemed to be very selective about who they were actually taking care of (I will return to this). Incredibly questionable choices of music they played, as I commonly heard songs featuring the n-word and other profanities. I've no qualms with the choice of music, but where's the professionalism? The decorum for the guests? It just wasn't at all appropriate for the setting. Also, overall very unprofessional, because who in their right mind comes to work wearing Crocs and socks? The bar staff and servers in the restaurant were hit or miss. Almost equal parts helpful and polite, and that same vibe of them making you feel like you were a burden for making them do their job that they decided to clock in for that day. The lady who makes the eggs and French toast in the morning was the best, as a lot of reviews here might also say. The housekeeping staff were also quite nice. Coming back around to the front desk staff handing out selective service to people, I hate to throw the accusation around, but it seemed to me that we were being profiled while we stayed here. When we first came here, hospitality was not there, not a greeting no nothing. But noticeably, other guests who had come in after us were greeted and even offered things like water and juice. A key difference was that these guests were European, likely British, while we were black. I don't feel crazy saying this either, as reading some of the other reviews corroborates what I'm saying as well. It's odd to me because who do they think they're helping by doing this? It's not like you're getting any extra pay or tips by cozying up to specific people, so why am I getting a different form of treatment from other guests? All this really does is harm the reputation of the resort, and I really do implore management or the owner(s) to retrain their staff and to actually make things equitable for *all* guests. Overall, a very subpar experience for the price. I really do urge anyone planning to come here to read the negative reviews before any of the positives, because you'd definitely be saving yourself the time, money, and LOSS of enjoyment. Do better; you're making my island look bad.
