    Family/engagement vacation ruined

I wanted to share my experience at the resort, as it unfortunately fell short of our expectations for both our family vacation and engagement celebration. We traveled as a group of 16, and while the resort has beautiful grounds, there were noticeable shortcomings in the service that need to be addressed. We had specifically requested four rooms with two beds to accommodate our young families. After a lengthy check-in process that took nearly four hours, we were provided with a room that included a cot and not a bed, which was not suitable given the circumstances. It’s disappointing to pay a premium price for a vacation and feel that our accommodation needs were not met. Despite several attempts to address this issue through emails since August 2024, we have not received any resolution or compensation, which has added to our frustration. Additionally, we found it challenging to gather as a family for meals, as we were unable to have a single dinner together during our stay. The service we received did not align with the 5-star expectations advertised. While we paid for an oceanfront view, we encountered issues with the air conditioning, which only worked intermittently, and received suggestions that fell short of providing a practical solution. I believe there are opportunities for improvement, particularly in addressing guest accommodations and enhancing overall service quality. I hope it can contribute to a better experience for future guests. We were very disappointed, wasted $$$

    Grand Bahia Principe Runaway Bay

The resort is beautiful, we were fortunate had 7 days of beautiful weather it rained a bit at night which was perfect. The rooms were clean, pillows a little lumpy but i had no problem sleeping, our room had the fob on our bracelet so easy to get into the room, not all the rooms had this option, my husbands fob worked perfect every time to get in room, mine did not i could have went to the front to fix it, but i just didn't bother. Thursday night was the seafood night at the buffet and it was yummy, lobster, shrimp, crap, scallops all you could eat, the buffet had really good food and a great selection. We did manage to book 2 alacarts before we got there with the online app, had no problems booking our third once we were there. We booked the knife the food was really really good. also went to the Japanese that was great as well. the Italian was our third and it was okay. For drinks the chocolate martinis were the best. Pool area was great had no problems finding seats , the resort is big lots of walking and lots of stairs but it was fine. The elevators worked all the time while we were there, we were on the second floor and it was just as quick to take the stairs. You can rent a cabana for the day i believe its about 80$ for the day they leave you with a bucket of drinks which was included in the price. Lots of shops on the resort to go to so if you forget something behind not a big deal. They have a mini market to go to it is to the left of the resort great place to go to. the beach was interesting, lots of different little areas to go to, it is quite shallow and lots of coral so water shoes is a good idea. the have an adult area more to the left of the beach about a 3 minute walk , just before that is a family area. down at the adult area just past that is a nudist area which is blocked off with a fence, not my cup of tea but its available. the drink guy on the beach in the more adult area is an older gentleman not so pleasant if you are not tipping him, he will remind you that he is trying to make a living makes it a bit uncomfortable to get drinks from him unless you are tipping all the time, and he is there every day. Same old fart !!! the snorkeling is pretty decent on the resort , and we booked the dunns river falls excursion i think it was about 105 per person us , it was tons of fun it was a catarmaran as well that took you snorkelling out in the ocean, you must have water shoes to climb the falls. all in all nice resort !!! Thank you to everyone there for a good trip. i would say this resort is a solid 4.5 star resort .

Bad food, bad entertainment, vague information when you check in and terrible resort!

Travelers beware!!!!!! We stayed at the Bahia Principe in Runaway bay and while the people there were fantastic the resort itself was terrible. We stayed for 7 days and there was two of us, We chose this resort because of all the restaurants what they don't tell you is that many aren't open or are open only on certain days. Your only allowed 3 a la carte restaurants and booking these restaurants are nearly impossible! We arrived on a Saturday yet the first availability to book wasn't until Wednesday! Now our first experience with the restaurant was great it was clean and quite and was nice, as for our second dinner it was a nightmare!!!!!!! We went to the Mikado Japanese restaurant for teppanyaki which is one of our favorite things to eat, we received our main meal once it was cooked in front of us, half way threw my meal i noticed some weird white worms in my plate i immediately stopped eating and took one of the worms off of my plate and took a closer look upon inspection I realized it was a maggot and it had been cooked with our food, the resort did very little regarding this! The rest of our vacation was ruined I had a very hard time eating anything after this point. This resort isn't worth the money there are far better places in Jamaica for around the same price I'd say go to any of those instead!!! The entertainment was also lacking at this resort, it was slow and there was so much down time between things and on one of the nights to see one of the shows you have to pay for it, so i guess all inclusive isn't really all inclusive after all!!

Great of you just want to relax

Rated 5 star which I would not agree, some rooms are very dated (very dark and brown) which we got unfortunately, Had a leaky toilet yuk. The premium rooms are bright and the decor is a lovely colour blue and spacious. Restaurant /reception staff are mostly lovely, food is also good lots to choose from unsure why baked beans had sugar added to it! Alcoholic drinks not so great. WiFi is not stable but overall the stay was nice but wouldn’t stay again unless all rooms are updated and WiFi sorted out.

Low Occupancy is no excuse for providing a poor experience!

This was the poorest experience we have ever had at ANY Bahai Principe hotel and one of the worst in 45 years of travel. When your staff has to keep apologizing for services, activities, foods etc. and keeps blaming it on low occupancy, it a systemic and operating culture deficiency and thus an acceptance of providing a poor customer experience. If the occupancy was low, then one would expect some level of ADDITIONAL perks for loyalty members staying at the Grand Jamaica property for the first (and last) time. To the contrary, what we received even less than we paid for or expected. We would encourage anyone to find another option to the Grand when visiting Jamaica and share the same with our many travel clubs and friends. I suggested that they send some staff to the Ambar or Bougainvillea in the DR for them to see that the experience they provided is significantly lower than the other locations they are competing with. We had not been back to Jamaica in over 25 years but we will be back again soon but not to the Bahia Grand!
