Great trip
Just got back from a trip with my family of 4 (two boys age 7 and 9) and had the best time! I have stayed at at least ten 4.5 to 5 star AI (3 with kids) and this is by far the best one we have been to. Most recently (Jan 2024) we were at the Barceló Maya Palace and much prefer this resort. We chose this resort primarily for the many kids activities, but also the beach (as compared to some others such as Moon Palace and Royalton) and the proximity to the airport (about 30 mins vs 1.5 hours to Barcelo). Our kids had a blast at the water slides, kids splash area, the lazy River, the main pool (and swim up bar) and wave pool. Their favourite was actually the small pool by the wave pool as it was the warmest. Wish the pools were warmer but you do get used to it pretty quick. Our kids lovvvveed the kids club and have never wanted to go to kids club in the past. After day one they were hooked and never wanted to be picked up. They spent 4-6 hours here most days and are already planning their trip back! Thank you specifically to Javi, Lizette, Mafer, Jaime, Omar, Jessica…those are the names they remembered but everyone was amazing! The kids club has tons of fun stuff to do inside (trampolines, fun play are, cooking and more) and an amazing playground. They also take them to meals, to practice stage performances, to watch shows and if you choose will take them to the pool/water slides. The food was not amazing but better than expected for an AI. We are vegan/vegetarian and there was always enough to eat in the buffet. Several types of beans and lots of veggies at every meal in the buffet. Ate at the Mediterranean and Japanese restaurant and both had options. The Japanese restaurant was really fun and the food was delicious. My only request would be for the resort to offer tofu in the buffet as we felt like we were eating the same thing (rice, beans, veg and guacamole) every meal. At least one vegan food option (aside from fruit) in the star cafe would be nice too! Room was nothing special but it worked. Asked for a king bed and got two doubles. After one night squished in two beds we got two cots and everyone had their own bed. A king would have been better but this was fine. Gym was really nice and the classes we did (kickboxing, bootcamp and strong) were awesome. Thank you to the awesome trainers (sorry can’t remember names!). Loved the resorts commitment to the environment. No bottled water or single use plastic anywhere. They have a water filtration system so you can refill your bottle at these which are throughout the resort. They also have fruit infused water at many places. You can also use the tap water to brush your teeth. This was so nice! The beach was nice but small and therefore crowded. Was windy and slightly overcast most days so we didn’t spend a lot of time there. Was also harder to get chairs as it’s not a big space. The beach is also overrun with Cotis. They are cute but are little scavengers in and out of the garbages and waiting for people to drop food. The entertainment staff were great with tons to do at the pool/beach during the day and before/after the shows. Most of the evening shows were good as well. We loved how walkable the resort was. We were in building 53 which was right beside the pools. We could get to the buffet/lobby and beach in under 5 mins and the gym, mall and kids club in about 5 mins, No need for a golf cart. That would have taken much longer. The Barcelo felt MUCH bigger. Also loved all the nature within the resort. So many paths in the forest with tons of different animals including Cotis, lizards, iguanas, flamingos, agoutis, tropical birds and monkeys! Overall this is the most well rounded resort for families we have seen. There is so much to do, staff is amazing and it’s beautiful. We have never gone to any resort twice but wouldn’t hesitate to return to this one. Proximity to the airport was also very nice!

Don’t just lock up your valuables!
Just returned from a week’s vacation. Our second time at the Lindo, and 3 times at the Grand. We won’t be going back. My daughter had a brand new bikini, Lululemon tank top and Athleta tank top stolen by housekeeping from her suitcase in her room. Ever since she was introduced to packing cubes while doing a study abroad in Spain, my daughter always packs her clothes neatly in her suitcase, organized by cubes. She thought it was weird that the bikini she hadn’t worn was missing, then when putting her outfit together for the plane ride the next day, she realized the tank top she planned to wear as well as an additional tank top were missing. We alerted front desk who had security and “guest relations” come to our room. After security sifted through everything in the room she was staying in as well as my room, they basically blamed her and said many times people find the items when they return home or housekeeping finds them in the sheets. Two black tank tops? In white sheets? A swimsuit she never took out of her suitcase? We were told they would investigate and send us an email with their “resolution” in 72 hours. We havent heard a word now in 96 hours…we put our passports, credit cards, cash, AirPods, jewelry in the room safe, it is a shame that people have to worry about their bathing suits and tank tops!

Family with teens had a great first-time AI experience
Our family of parents and teens had a fantastic first-time AI experience at the Paraiso Lindo. The grounds, including the pools and the beach, were gorgeous. The rooms were larger than expected and exactly what we reserved. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Highlights include the bartenders, who make mean blended drinks; the folks making tacos and burgers near the pool at lunchtime; and the staff at the Star Cafe, serving up an outstanding selection of delicious little sandwiches and good coffee. No place is perfect, of course. The food (other than the stuff mentioned above) was always plentiful, but was just good, not great. Seating at the non-reservation restaurants (not the buffet, which was always easy) was kind of a cluster. The fire show on the beach was great; the rest were just fine. But those are quibbles. We spent five non-travel days sipping drinks by the pool, bopping along to the Mexican music playing at the bars, and splashing in the ocean. Couldn't have been better.
