Sands
Overall nice resort to stay at! The resort could use updates but the restaurant food was great, servers very kind. Beaches were stunning and well kept! Entertainment at night could be better but overall enjoyed our week stay at Dreams Sands!!

Will not be returning!
We Stayed for a week and i am currently still here as im writing this review. This is our second time here we came 2 years ago before they did theirs renovation. To start off I have what renovations were done because the same issues as 2 years ago are still present. The reason we returned is because they have a beautiful beach and I figured since it got renovated it should be better this time around, I was wrong. The only great thing about this resort is their beach, they have one of the most beautiful beaches I have been to. The food is average at best and I believe they should have more choices to accommodate their guests. One of the big issues here is for breakfast you can only really do the buffet unless you upgrade to the preferred class then and only then you have the option to go to the Mexican for breakfast, which would be fine if they had other choices but they don’t so they punish you by only offering you the buffet for breakfast. The buffet restaurant has numerous leaks coming from the ceiling which is obviously a health hazard because if your not extra careful it will fall on your food as you’re walking around to get it and I can’t imagine that being safe to eat. This issue was present 2 years ago and is still present today. I guess taking care of that is not their top priority. I am a UVC member and hey tried to get me to upgrade by offering me to visit the Dreams playa mujeres which we did because we were told we could spend the day their but that wasn’t the case all we got was a beach bag and we’re returned immediately back to Dreams sands. The whole thing took about 4 hours of our day and I would have never done that for a beach bag, I can afford my own beach bag!!!. Further more the kids pool/ heated pool has a lot of tiles that have come off and are missing, this was also an issue 2 years ago but I cannot believe in 2 years they have not fixed that and intact it’s worse than before. I actually saw 2 kids being treaded for cuts on their feet I would imagine it was from that pool, I made sure my kid always wore swimming shoes so he didn’t get any cuts. Needless to say we will not be returning to this resort and I am very happy we are going back home tomorrow, if I were you I’d book a different place!!!

Pretty decent place
Stayed in a regular king bed room with no balcony. Small resort where everything is within walking distance and doesn’t require a golf cart to get to. Also doesn’t require jumping from one building to another if you have friends and family staying as well. Workers are very friendly and always try to get guests engaged in fun activities. The location is great. You can walk a km and be at the ferry to take you to Isle Mujeres, tons of local shopping across the street (souvenirs, pharmacy), close to Coco Bongo and Hard Rock Cafe. Be very careful crossing though. Cars won’t stop for anyone. I felt quite safe in the resort and walking around in the hotel zone area. The entertainment is good. We were hoping for karaoke the 2 times in the week we were here and neither time did they have it. Sometimes the daily activities don’t start when they indicate on the app. The food…The selection is limited but what you DO get is delicious. The only negative experience we had was the Portifino a la carte when we ordered the filet mignon. Rubbery and zero flavor. The steaks were way better at the Gaucho a la carte. I also did not like that the kids station was not kept hot at all. Food was cold every time. Rooms are nice. We had to call maintenance twice for the toilet issue and once for the mini bar issue, but they had a very quick response and solution time. Beds are pretty firm though 👎🏼 There are 3 regular pools (not counting Preferred). One is heated and the other two (one of which has a swim up bar) were not heated. A happy surprise to us was their hot tub was actually a hot tub! Loved it. The beach is AMAZING. Sand is so soft. No rough pebbles and hardly and weeds. We had no issues getting waiter service as well. I’m used to Riviera Maya-style resorts (larger with more variety and space) so this one was different for us. We would give this place another try in the future.

Second time here!
Great trip - did the same thing here in 2024 and would love to do it again early 2026! Took my wife, and three young adult kids (18, 20, and 22) to the resort again. We had just as much fun the second time as we did the first time (2024). We recognized a bunch of the same staff this year as we did in 2024, and they actually remembered us :).

The best birthday celebration for all ages!
I love this resort. My sister and I who were both celebrating birthdays took our 2 sons, her’s 1 and mine turning 1 on the trip. It is great for families. It is located close to a lot of shopping. It has great food, drinks and entertainment. The resort has one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen in Mexico.
