UGH!!!!! We thought we were going to have a better experience then we did. First, check in! We booked two rooms with diamond club privileges. Marriott messed up our reservations. We booked for 7 people but when we checked in, they only had us for 6 people. Rooms The rooms were clean and descent but please be aware of where your room is located on the resort. This resort is huge, and our room was in building 19 which is on the side where the water park is. This is very far from the main lobby, diamond club, and buffets/restaurants. I feel like we're walking the entire vacation. Also, our washcloths were taken out of the rooms the first night we got there, and we didn't get more washcloths until the next day after asking several times. Very weird. Food Not great. The buffet didn't offer any other meat options other than pork. The food at this resort was very inconsistent. The Mexican restaurant, Agave, was ok. The chicken and steak there were good. The BBQ restaurant, Smoke - not good. The Indian restaurant, Taj was really good. Our kids went to Zen, the Hibachi restaurant and they said it was good. Beach - not sexy. Lots of seaweed. It looks like chocolate milk. Not the resort's fault. They do a great job of cleaning the beach in the morning, but the seaweed come back by 11am/12pm. Pools We LOVE the pools at the Royalton Splash. So many pools and very spacious. It doesn't feel crowded. If you love pools, this is the resort for you. Service Service here is good. One other minor issue for me. Both of their ATMS were out of service our entire stay. I wanted to take cash out but couldn't. Very annoying. Overall experience was just okay. I probably won't come back, and I would only recommend this resort if you preferred a resort with multiple pool options.

The food at Zen Sushi by Chef Jorge was fantastic! The food was delicious and well cooked. The waiters Marco and Carlos were super attentive and welcoming. By far our favorite restaurant!

The swim out rooms were absolutely wonderful. Our Butler service was outstanding. It was hard at first for us Canadians to accept the service because we don’t have that luxury where we’re from. Thank you so much Milton and Pablo. The restaurants were lovely as well our trip was one we’ll not soon forget

Jul 10, 2025Bad food, terrible housekeeping, rammed full, hopeless service, poor beach, awful piped music, avoid!
I called FIVE times on our first night asking for a duvet for the kids. Did not happen, and it was the FOURTH NIGHT before they got it right. Even then the housekeeping kept taking away the kids bedding and leaving only a sheet or even just a scratchy blanket. Once we smashed a glass, and housekeeping came, after which I found FOUR large chunks of glass still on the floor. The poor quality drawers fell out injuring my child. The food was mostly shockingly poor, like they got your all-inclusive money and just don’t care. I did enjoy the Zen restaurant with the live chefs making it fun. But a huge scramble to book a table at restaurants on their stupid app, with people desperately logging on at midnight when the next days booking opened, still often none available, then you turn up and the tables are 50% empty. Huge water park, but they don’t tell you about 100kg weight limit so kids refused to go without Daddy. Waste of time. This is the worst example of money grabbing corporate hotel management combined with very poorly trained and hopeless Mexican staff. Try complaining and good luck to you, nothing gets done. Went to guest services to follow up concerns and just to a robotic hard sell to attend a long timeshare presentation in return for a free day on a cabana bed. I have never felt less valued, welcomed or “seen” as a hotel guest anywhere in my life. And as an example I just can’t wait for the robotic AI generated impersonal reply I’m about to get on here from the “manager”. Bet he comments on the one thing I did like amongst this absolute ocean of disappointment and complaints.

Highly recommend & family friendly
The resort is super family friendly. There is so much for kids of all ages to partake in from water slides to all sorts of activities (such as bubble parties, kids club, and constant activities led by the VibeTeam). There are activities for adults as well such as volleyball, exercise classes, and other games as well (different every day). The restaurants are all delicious with fast and courteous service. Every server is super friendly and goes out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. The butlers are amazing as well! Both that we had were super fast to respond and got things done within minutes usually. They knew exactly who to contact to get everything done that we needed and checked in on us every day to see if we needed anything else. My only concern is that at the buffets, tongs are constantly being interchanged to grab food which makes going to a buffet safely pretty difficult for someone with allergies (which isn’t the resorts fault, it’s the guests that need to be more careful with that but it really limited what foods I would dare to go near). Overall, absolutely loved this resort and will definitely be coming back again.
