Amazing vacation and anniversary celebration.
We recently had the pleasure of spending ten unforgettable days at your resort, and I wanted to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for the exceptional experience you provided. This was our first visit to Live Aqua, and from the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the outstanding service, beautiful atmosphere, and, most notably, the incredible culinary experiences.

Wonderful experience!
We had such an awesome 2 week vacation at this favorite hotel of ours. Totally exceeded our expectations to be part of the aqua club. Our butlers Arturo and Stephanie so graciously tended to every request. From dinner reservations to spa needs, they were always around for us.

Just OK
We have been visiting Cancun for 15 years, and have visited several resorts during this time. Although it is rated among the top resorts in Cancun, neither my husband nor I were impressed. The grounds are beautiful, and even from our garden view room, we were able to see the ocean (if that is important to you.) There didn’t appear to be much happening; I asked for an activity guide for the days we were there and no one could help us. However, there WERE a couple Mexican nights happening by the pool, which were very loud and we able to hear it in our room. There were several sections to the pool, but it was confusing as to what areas were for those who paid for upgrades and/or memberships and for those of us who hadn’t. There was a charge, of course, for Bali Beds; however, there was a sign indicating that chair loungers and bed-style loungers were free, but didn’t mention that since many of the loungers faced the water, you had to pay for those also, while the chair loungers were spread all over the place and never in groups (always ONE between the loungers and Bali beds!) We were only here for three days, so take this in mind as you decide whether or not to go: As to the Restaurants-- 1) they are conveniently all located on one level (pool level) 2) unless you upgrade to a particular status, you cannot make dinner reservations in advance 3) from what we could see, you would have to walk outside for lunch (I guess that’s why they had lots of umbrellas by the doors!); there are several different stations surrounding the pool for BBQ ribs (my husband said these were the best!!), hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken and tacos as well as pizza (but not GF) 4) IMHO I don’t believe they had enough restaurants for the number of people there (I can’t imagine what it might be like during busy seasons!) and of course, needing GF limited what I could have 5) for dinner, there is an Italian restaurant (outside entrance) an extra-charge steak place (inside), and an inclusive gourmet restaurant (inside and with a dress code—and with long lines 7) Siete is INSIDE the resort and serves a breakfast buffet, and for dinner, Mexican a la carte 8) I require Gluten Free as I have Celiac Disease Where we ate-- (Day 1) We arrived at 4:00 PM and hadn’t eaten all day, so the representative sent us hunting for the Fish Shack, which was outside, of course. After almost 30 min, being sent here and there (and never finding it!) we finally found out that it had shut down early for the day. Fortunately, Siete was opening early at 5:00 so we waited around. They had what looked like WONDERFUL salad bar complete with sliced steak and other meats. I asked about GF (as nothing was marked) and our waiter did check, indicating I should stay away from the bread station (!) and the taco chips. Both my husband and I decided that it was perfect for us, and didn’t bother ordering anything from the a la carte menu. (Day 2) I skipped breakfast, and ended up eating at the Fish Shack (yay, we found it!) The menu was mark with GF items, but when I ordered what I wanted, found out it was “mis-marked” and wasn’t GF. My husband ordered GF octopus tacos, and I ordered shrimp tacos, specifying GF to the waitress. They were delicious. For dinner, we went back to Siete, as it was the easiest to get in without a reservation if you went early enough. We decided to once again get the salad bar, but ordered on the recommendation of our waiter a soup that he said was GF. (Day 3) we ate breakfast at Siete, which as stated is the breakfast buffet. The only thing marked were some slices of bread and brownies. Again, I asked what I could eat, and someone supposedly knowledgeable walked around with me. I ended up ordering an omelet, which they assured me was GF. I also had a banana, since it wasn’t sliced and was still unpeeled, as well as a GF brownie, because why not!! Maybe 3 hours after breakfast, I started getting a headache, and left my husband by the pool. After being inside for about an hour I realized I had been glutened. Based on side effects, I am guessing that it was from dinner, and that the salad bar had been contaminated, but I am still iffy about what I had for breakfast…. My husband ended up going for dinner that night alone at the Mexican fiesta, noting there was nothing I could have eaten, and he thought the food was just ok. The next morning, I was fine, and we decided to move on the next resort we were visiting because I couldn’t really be sure of the breakfast I ate at Live Aqua.

Live Aqua disappointment
We have been to Live Aqua 3 time in the past year . The past 2 times we loved it, but unfortunately I can’t say the same for this visit. We really noticed a lot of cutbacks in entertainment and food. Our room (Aqua suite) needed to be refreshed as evidenced by pealing wallpaper dirt on baseboards, dirty corners, drains that smelled like sewage. This could have been an isolated issue with our suite, but the suite should not have been used if this was the case.
