Great service !
The service at the secrets in Tulum was by far the best service I’ve ever received in an all inclusive resort. Everyone was super attentive to our needs and we would get a phone call every morning to see if we needed anything ! Amazing food also. 10/10 would recommend !

Secrets Tulum vs Secrets Akumal
We stayed at Secrets Akumal in May 2024 and at Secrets Tulum in Feb 2025. Of note, we stayed in preferred club at both locations. In case you don't want to read the whole review to find out which we'd recommend, we personally preferred Secrets Akumal. However, Secrets Tulum has a couple nice aspects over Akumal. Also, I believe S. Tulum is wrestling with staffing shortages. Read on if you want to hear the details. Check in experience -At S. Tulum, we were given cool towels and a glass of champagne as soon as we stepped out of our vehicle and were then taken to the preferred club lounge/check in. The gal who checked us in didn't go over any of the amenities, restaurants, or preferred club benefits. I didn't realize anyone went over those except I overheard the other staff member checking in guests going over those things. We were told that our room wasn't ready yet and were asked if we'd like to have lunch with a staff member to discuss the resort and their vacation club (aka time share). Perhaps they were going to give the above details during the lunch, but I wish they would have shared them during the check in process like the other staff member was. Anyway, I declined (it was 3:30 pm), and she told us to come back for our room key in 15 min. We came back 25 min later. The staff was either helping another guest or was on the phone, so we sat down to wait. Once they were done, they didn't acknowledge us, and a couple of them were on their phones. I eventually asked them if our room was ready, etc. and they took us to our room a few min after that. Once we were shown our room, we were told our luggage would be delivered shortly. Well, 3 hours later we still hadn't received our bags. So, we asked the bell boys at the front desk, and they then delivered them within 15 min. -Check in at S. Akumal was seamless. We were given a cool towel upon arrival and a glass of champagne once we arrived at the preferred club lounge/check in area. We were given a thorough overview of the resort. Our luggage was also delivered immediately. Service -At S. Tulum, service was hit or miss. Sometimes it was fantastic. Other times, there was something left to be desired. I think the vast majority of the staff want you to have the best vacation possible - they're just still learning how to anticipate guests' needs. If you ask for something, they'll do their best to make it happen. The most consistent excellent service was at the Grotto (preferred club restaurant and pool). Poolside service was pretty good at the other pools too. Beach club service could be better. It can be hard to flag down a waiter to order food. Overall, the most inconsistent service was at the restaurants. Edgar at Jasmine barely said a word to us. The service at Barefoot Grill was also terrible. It took a long time for food to be delivered when we saw it was ready at the window. Some servers were standing around or were clearing tables that were empty of guests and there weren't any guests waiting to be seated. However, Alejandro at the dinner buffets and Wilbert at Blue water grill were excellent and made our experience so much better. I also want to mention that Sheila at the Grotto was lovely, and she went out of her way to blow up my pool floatie. Carlo at the Grotto was also wonderful. Coco cafe staff were great too, especially Gabriella and the nice gentleman with glasses (I'm afraid I can't remember his name). -Service at Akumal is worth its 5 stars. Everyone went out of their way to make sure your stay was the best it could be. I only had a mediocre experience with one waiter, and that was still fine. Aesthetics: -Both resorts are beautiful with a jungle feel and lush vegetation. -I think the pools at S. Tulum were more aesthetically pleasing. There is also plentiful pool seating and lots of shade (my personal preference). -At S. Akumal, I always found open loungers at the Zen pool. However, it looked like the loungers at the party pool would fill up by 9 am. There also wasn't much shade at the party pool and sometimes it was too windy to use the umbrellas. Rooms -I liked the rooms at S. Tulum better than Akumal. They're larger and have more space for your suitcases. Shower is also larger. There is not a Jacuzzi tub. We did have a Jacuzzi tub in our room at Akumal. Beach -S. Tulum has beach access that's about a 20 min shuttle ride from the resort. Shuttles run every 1 to 1.5 hours. You'll get a good seat if you arrive on the first or second shuttle. The beach is beautiful, and there are 3 pools (one of them is only for preferred club guests), which are Instagram worthy. The beach isn't really swimmable, but some people waded in to jump the waves. You can walk miles down the beach in either direction. There are also $50 massages on the beach right next to the beach club. There are vendors but they leave you alone if you say you're not interested. -S. Akumal is located right on the beach. Not only that, it's beach and area is a sea turtle sanctuary. It's also sheltered by a reef, which means the snorkeling is incredible. We saw a sea turtle within the first 5 min of snorkeling. -I thought I wouldn't care that S. Tulum wasn't on the beach, but I realized that I missed it more than I thought I would. It's nice to come and go from the beach without waiting for a shuttle and to be at a swimmable beach. Just personal preference though. Activities & Entertainment -The entertainment crews at both resorts are excellent. However, S. Akumal has more varied activities (archery, kayaking, etc). The evening entertainment is of equal caliber between resorts. -Sophie, Sam, Ariana, and Luna from The entertainment crew at S. Tulum were especially great! Food -At S. Tulum, there were several excellent dishes, some were mediocre, and a couple terrible ones. Our favorite restaurant was blue water grill. The steak, ribs, appetizers, and corn chowder soup were all delicious. Our favorite lunch place was the Grotto. Some other reviewers complained that there aren't enough food choices. There are currently 4 dinner restaurants (Olio, Jasmine, blue water grill, and La Taqueria), and there were 3 dinner buffets during our 1 week stay. We thought those were plenty. For lunch, If we didn't have access to the Grotto, options would be very limited. I would not recommend the margherita pizza at the beach club or the fried ice cream at Jasmine. Sadly, the ice cream comes battered but isn't completely fried. Overall, I'd give the food a 6-7/10. -At S. Akumal, food could also be hit or miss, but there were more excellent dishes than mediocre. We felt that there were plenty of restaurants and food options. There were also always new pastries at Coco cafe everyday. Also, every day an ice cream cart and fruit cart came by the pools. They didn't have that at Tulum. The preferred club also had several additional appetizers always available (S. Tulum only had drinks). Overall, I'd give the food 8-9/10. All together, we enjoyed our time at S. Tulum immensely. If we had to choose to stay at S. Tulum or S. Akumal, we would choose S. Akumal, but we're glad we stayed at S. Tulum and experienced such a gorgeous resort. I think if you keep in mind that the resort is still finding its rhythm and that the majority of staff truly want to give you the best vacation possible, then you'll have a wonderful time.

Secrets Tulum do your research!
My view of Secrets Tulum after the first 10 days. We have 4 days left. The main issue is the majority of the staff are rude, disrespectful and are not bothered about your vacation. There are exceptions to this, Alan in the coffee shop all of the pool attendants go overboard! This helps. The entertainment team and shows are great ! The WiFi is really good throughout the resort and beech club, an added bonus! The outside bbq theme nights make a welcoming change from the restaurants and the limited menus: The food is getting a little monotonous after sampling the restaurants and the lack of choice. We are here for 14 days so might be expecting for more choice. Room service is fine, however limited. Amenities are fine, however we had days when we had to ask for items which hadn’t been replaced, towels etc The beech club is an experience well worth it, but over 30 mins to get there. The food and service was really good superior to the staff at the main resort. Helen forbid you want to speak to someone behind the reception as they constantly look at their screens or mobiles not even trying to make eye contact ! Trying to work out which concierge to go to was an absolute nightmare, when you get past the “management” who appear to be everywhere you can finally have a discussion. Be careful about the sales pitch ! And vouchers which are not actually worth anything. Would we personally recommend, I am afraid no. Would we say it’s 5 star no more 3 plus. The resort is fine but 90% of the staff need some assistance with their hospitality training. I think we should have reviewed more and listened to some of the reviews. The majority of from people who are only here for a few days. So may not of experienced what we have. It all started at check in, we were given a cooling towel really nice then rushed to a small bar and had to try and listen to the receptionist over the noisy bar. We were not even offered a welcome drink ! One thing which we have never noticed before while staying at Hyatt resorts all over the world was so far at this hotel we have not even seen or been approached by the senior management team. ? Really unusual in our experience. Are they hiding for a reason? Our advice if your thinking of a few days then it’s fine but anything over 7 nights there are better resorts under the Hyatt banner and competition from others would be a better choice. Hope my post helps some people

Nice resort for a calm getaway
Bed was great, shower was nice, rooms were really clean! Beach club was a nice addition since the resort is not actually on the beach. Eduardo and Ayex took amazing care of us at the pool. Never waited for a drink! Great time! Pools were never busy. Felt like we had the place to ourselves.

Great experience in Tulum, we will visit again!
We visited Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club from January 24, 2025, for a week with friends, and it was an unforgettable experience. Nestled in the jungle, the resort exudes a serene, chill vibe that instantly puts you at ease. The new Tulum airport is only about 40min from the resort and we had a free transfer to and from that was included in our booking. The staff at the resort were incredibly warm and helpful, making every moment enjoyable. A small downside was the daily persistence of salespeople promoting bonus vouchers, which we declined, but this was a minor hiccup in an otherwise amazing stay. The lobby bar is the heart of the action, and the rooftop pool and bar hosted a lively weekly foam party that was a blast. During the day, we made it a point to visit the beach club, located about 20 minutes away via a complimentary shuttle that runs hourly (with the last ride back at 5:30 PM). The beach was pure magic—soft, beautiful sand and a serene, walkable coastline that seemed to stretch endlessly. Truly, one of the most stunning beaches I’ve ever seen! While the water was choppy on windy days, the overall experience was incredible. The beach club itself was well-equipped with lounge beds, chairs, and attentive service. A big shoutout to Mike, the beach club concierge, who ensured we were set up perfectly each morning by 10:30. The food was casual and delicious, with highlights like pizza, nachos, guacamole, and unforgettable shrimp and fish tacos from their small restaurant. Drinks were generous—unlimited mimosas, cocktails, or anything else you’d like—and definitely not watered down! Special mentions go to Jhonny for his infectious energy and engaging activities, as well as Yvillebaldo and Cristian, who were fantastic servers, always prompt and accommodating. The main buffet was a highlight, offering something for everyone with two fresh cooking stations. We particularly enjoyed the best omelets, thanks to Rosalia. Please remember to tip your cooks, bartenders, and servers—they work tirelessly to make your experience memorable. A special thank you to Alfonso, who served us every meal with a smile and even pulled us from the line to seat us in his section. A tip truly goes a long way for personalized service. Our room was spacious and modern, featuring dual sinks, a huge rain shower with a bench, bathrobes, slippers, a mini bar, wine fridge, and a safe. They also supply a Nespresso machine, though we loved our daily visits to Coco Café for coffee. The room’s thoughtful touches included a motion sensor light under the bed frame to avoid fumbling in the dark and plenty of storage space. You can request additional pillows and hangers as needed. Our balcony overlooked one of the three main pools, and we stayed in room 2245. Housekeeping services were provided daily as long as we hit the green button on our way out for the day. Throughout the resort, sand is a recurring feature, which adds to the charm but can be a bit of a nuisance, it surrounds each pool and also appears as decore in the main lobby area. One improvement would be adding more foot showers around the pool areas to help wash off sand before returning to the rooms. Another tip: bring humidity control bags (like DampRid), as the rooms are humid, but these helped immensely. The gym was well-equipped with everything needed for a good workout. The Wi-Fi was reliable throughout the resort and even at the beach club. While the pools are not generally heated, they are refreshing on hot days. Food and beverage service were also included, pools were never very busy. There is a pool restaurant which had amazing, and huge, chicken wings, do not miss this! Back at the resort, the bars were well-staffed, and the drinks were excellent. Evening entertainment was fun, including a silent disco, live performances, and a DJ at the sports bar, which stayed open until around midnight. After 10:30 PM, the resort does quiet down a bit, so we often created our own fun! One night, we ventured into the beach town for dinner at Ilios, and it was spectacular. The ambiance, with its outdoor setting, dim lighting, and vibrant fire show with acrobatics, was worth every penny—though it is pricey, so be prepared. The cab ride for six cost around $80 USD round-trip, but it was well worth it for such a unique dining experience. For coffee lovers, the Coco Café, tucked beside the gift shop near the main lobby, was a hidden gem. They serve every coffee imaginable alongside some of the freshest, most delicious donuts I’ve ever tasted! Dining at the resort was equally enjoyable. The three main restaurants don’t require reservations, which was convenient. Olio offered delicious Mediterranean dishes, including fantastic hummus, while Jasmine became our favorite, serving incredibly fresh Asian cuisine and sushi (by far the freshest I have ever tasted!). The steakhouse was unfortunately closed the night we tried to visit, so we dined in the main buffet, which was just okay—likely due to our late arrival at 9:30 PM. Occasionally, the resort set up outdoor buffets near the specialty restaurants, offering a relaxed, social dining experience with great food and drinks. We visited the Jungle Place spider monkey sanctuary one day and this was a very fun and humbling experience. David and his mother and partner work tirelessly on caring for and feeding over 100 rescued, abandoned and injured spider monkeys, only with visit donations. We highly recommend you see this awesome sanctuary. One small tip: You can bring your own wine to dinners. While some staff might ask for a corkage fee, a polite discussion usually resolves the matter. All in all, Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club offers a perfect blend of relaxation, fun, and outstanding service. With its stunning beach, delicious dining, friendly atmosphere, and thoughtful amenities, it’s a destination I can’t wait to visit again.
