NOT a beach hotel. Do not book this hotel.

The hotel was booked as a beach hotel, but there is no beach and sea swimming is forbidden. The loud shouting constantly American guests were annoying. Some food was un-cooked. One meal, the meat was rancid. Loud music from wedding kept us awake. Staff were polite but did not care about anything. Gardens were lovely. Room was dated and old (yellowing toilet, etc) Everything was overpriced, eg: $75 each to get to town. Tours were super over priced. Golf buggies everywhere, constantly running us over, very annoying. I would not go back even if it was free.

YOUR SAFETY AND WELL-BEING ARE NOT A PRIORITY!

I strongly advise anyone considering El Dorado Royale to think twice—your safety and well-being are not a priority at this resort. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a wedding, and our experience was nothing short of a nightmare. During one of the event dinners, we specifically asked the staff if there were nuts in the food due to my boyfriend’s severe allergy. We were assured there were none, but after eating, he began having an allergic reaction. He is anaphylactic, and we had to wait over 30 minutes for the on-site doctor. When the doctor finally arrived, they told us we needed to go to the hospital. We were taken by ambulance, and a staff member promised us a ride back to the hotel once we were discharged, giving us a phone number to call. However, when we called the number, the night manager, Francisco, informed us that the hotel would not be picking us up, leaving us stranded in Cancun at 3AM. To make matters worse, no one from the hotel staff bothered to follow up or check on my boyfriend’s condition in the days that followed. When we finally spoke to the front desk, they claimed the resort was not responsible and refused to reimburse us for the taxi we had to pay for ourselves. They told us that because we “chose” to go to the hospital (as if we had a choice when he could literally die), they would not cover any expenses. This resort ruined our vacation, showed a complete lack of accountability, and clearly does not care about its guests. We will be contacting corporate to address this negligence and lack of compassion. Avoid this place at all costs.

    2nd time at this resort

So I’m going to leave a realisticbalanced review. Ultra short version. I am giving this 5 stars through as this is the 2nd time I’ve been to this resort. I have in the past revisited places and never felt it was as good as the first time however this resort was as good as the first time and I think I would come back a 3rd time so that’s saying something. So longer version, I think overall the biggest assets of this resort are the staff, everyone is very friendly and welcoming. They all have top memories and remember personal things about you and tailor their approach as this evolves over your stay it’s nice and genuinely makes it sad for leaving. Top people in no particular order- Willbert, your old school waiter who is all pro Angel and memo, another couple of top guys, friendly and great Gabrella- very friendly good memory and personable (maybe even remembered us form 2 years ago or just good a blagging) Edwardo on concierge and Yale at front of house listened to all my problems (and were great unlike my airline)x The yoga lady Ariana was awesome too, And off course Dr Luis literally saved me. (I’ve probably given away who am now) Finally I forgot the guys name but he runs the bar in casitas outside on the beach really good guy! Also demographically the hotels other guests are great; this is what stood out the last time we were here everyone is kind of like you regardless if they are from Texas, Canada or the uk. This makes conversion interesting and different all the time, which is part of a good holiday. Food, I think the food here is good it’s far better than other resorts I’ve been too (say Roylton royal for example) and worse than say the Maroma that I have stayed at which is twice the price so understandable, overall the food is tasty it’s fresh is safe I’ve never had any issues at the el dorado resorts but lived in the pan at the royalton for example. Drinks here are also generous and top shelf if you ask for them, The booking system is easy to use and room service is fast and hot it’s all good. Fuentes was really exceptional and worth the extra money, The hotels gardens are really well kept and beautiful; the hotel is clean and I’ve haven’t seen a single cockroach for example here. Yes there is mosquitoes and bugs but that’s Mexico, The negatives. Certain things in the room don’t make sense / aren’t thought out well but that’s just standard Mexico sometimes. Like locations of lights and mirrors and fittings of Things but aesthetically it all looks ok The only bit of constructiveness I can give is I think the fish lunch buffet is great but some people aren’t good with fish like me would be awesome to get like some tacos or something like that chicken / beef based when that’s on as the La isla restaurant is really nice and great to be in but I just couldn’t handle all the fish! (Probably in hindsight if I asked for a burger or something I’m sure one of the guys would of got me it) I think spa is really expensive too if you don’t get a deal btw so push for deals . Oh and the price or champagne is like triple what you would pay in like the ritz in London which I thought was funny….. understand though France love an export tax. Cigars too, are very expensive in the shops but maybe real or very good regardless: the guys on the beach to all my American boys aren’t selling real cohibas to you at $20 each these are like 150 dollers in Cuba so go figure lol Overall I’d return and I like it here it’s probably our favourite place in Mexico to visit, Pitty about the travel agent

Home away from home not so much. Maybe soon?

This has been one of our favorite destinations for the past 13 years. Now it is really in a transition and that is no secret. Karissma management is gone and the Family has it back. Yea! I am rooting for them. However, at the moment it’s a real struggle. Let me first give the positives: Food is still delicious and fresh. The server staff is excellent. The management is working hard to update the property. We stayed in the new Diamond elite 2 bedrooms. They were great with a couple of little things that need to be corrected. Drawers for clothing and plugs for nice desk area LaIsla has taken the roll of spot for a quaint breakfast spot May the manager was great Feliepe Guillermo and Enrique were great with the others and the chorizo is fabuloso with the divorcado Now for the negatives They are still charging and treating members like the past while allowing huge local discounts Capacity numbers are way way lower than they are reporting. Less than we have ever experienced including during Covid times Morale from staff is at an all time low Customer service is anything but: the new dorado bucks program is a total scam and staff does not even understand the rules. Lomis travel and the resort do not maintain a cooperative billing system. The charging and Monday over forces occupants to buy stuff they would not , over priced and no transaction carry over. The customer service department is willing to create thousands of dollars of negative PR and word Of mouth to get an extra $100.00 on transaction disputes. It is forcing service staff to mediate with no empowerment to make a happy customer. Cesar was introduced to us as the head of customer service. If he has not been empowered to make existing loyal members happy then shame on upper management and Cesar do your self a favor. Fight for it or move on. If the decisions made are by Cesar, he should be replaced. CS 101 create a happy customer. Management 101 your people are your most important customers. If your team is treated right they will treat your customers right. To conclude. I gave the property a three because we love it , the people, and believe in short order they will get it right and be back. We really look forward to that and our future visits. All the Best!

Great atmosphere, really enjoyed our stay

My recent stay at El Dorado Royale and Casitas in Riviera Maya, Mexico was truly unforgettable! We stayed in a swim-up casita suite, and overall, our experience was fantastic. Here's a breakdown of our stay: Pros: service, staff, resort atmosphere, pools (especially Casitas), spa Cons: beach, dated rooms Check-In & Room Experience: Check-in was super easy, and our luggage was delivered within 15 minutes of arrival, which was much appreciated. The casita suite itself is a little dark and slightly dated, but it was incredibly spacious and comfortable. Each casita has an outdoor shower, in addition to the indoor shower and a large jacuzzi for two. Since we had a swim-up suite, our balcony door opened directly onto a private terrace, which led into a lazy river that connected to a semi-private pool with a swim-up bar and friendly servers. Room service is available 24 hours a day, and our mini fridge was restocked daily with beer, water, and snacks. Dining & App Experience: Upon check-in, we were instructed to download the resort app, which allowed us to make dinner reservations throughout our stay. It was easy to use, and we had no trouble securing reservations. The restaurants were very accommodating, and the food quality was excellent, with a variety of options at each venue. The service was always attentive and friendly, making dining a pleasure each time. Resort Grounds & Beach: The resort itself is incredibly lush and tropical, with palm trees, long meandering pathways, and plenty of romantic nooks to discover. There are hammocks and Bali beds near the beach, available to use without any need for reservations or extra charges. The beach, while beautiful, is a bit eroded. There are concrete breakers in the water to help replenish it and create a future natural reef. While they aren't the most scenic, they did not detract from the overall ambiance and charm of the resort. Spa & Relaxation: We indulged in the on-site spa several times and were consistently impressed with the level of service and the quality of the treatments. While the pricing is higher than what you'd find in the U.S., the pampering we received made it worth every penny! Jose at the spa front desk is a gem! Weddings: We noticed several wedding groups during our stay, all of whom seemed to be having the time of their lives. We noticed a variety of wedding venues throughout the property, and it’s clear that it's a popular destination for couples. Transportation with Lomas Travel: We used Lomas Travel for our airport transfers. They were punctual, friendly, and got us to and from the airport safely and on time. Lomas also checked in with us during our stay to ensure we had everything we needed, which was a nice touch. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at El Dorado Royale and Casitas. The combination of attentive service, excellent dining, relaxing spa treatments, and the serene, tropical environment made it a vacation to remember. I highly recommend this resort for anyone looking for a romantic, all-inclusive getaway in paradise!
