  Skip the Resort!

  Review: Royalton Hideaway Punta Cana I recently stayed at Royalton Hideaway Punta Cana, expecting a true adults-only luxury experience, but unfortunately, it was a massive disappointment. While the rooms were spacious and comfortable, the resort was not truly adults-only—children were only restricted from one small pool and one restaurant, yet teenagers were everywhere, often loud and disruptive. The Good: • Rooms: Large, comfortable, and well-maintained. • Pools: Plenty of options to swim and relax. • Spa Treatments: Reasonably priced and overall a good experience. Do not book ahead of time, as you’ll get better prices booking onsite. • Hydrotherapy: A highlight of the stay. The Bad: • Food: Very poor quality. • Vegetarian options were extremely limited, and vegan options were nearly nonexistent. • The buffet had very few plant-based choices, and even those were not clearly labeled. • Despite requiring reservations for restaurants, we were never able to book before 9 PM via the app. Even Diamond Club members struggled to get reservations despite their butlers handling the bookings. • Lack of Restaurant Availability: • No walk-in option. We were not allowed to wait for a table to open, even though restaurants were never more than half full. • This raises the question: Why were reservations impossible to get when tables were clearly available? • Out-of-stock menu items: Every restaurant we dined at was missing at least one dish we ordered, even though we were just a party of two. • Only got into three restaurants during our five-day stay due to lack of reservations or only late-night (after 9 PM) availability. • No Food Options from 4-6 PM: • This is when most tour groups return, yet only the sports bar was open. • We waited 30 minutes at the sports bar, were completely ignored by the wait staff, and never seated. • A long line of guests was waiting for food, and no staff even acknowledged us. • Drinks: • Terrible quality. The alcohol seemed diluted or altered, making cocktails taste completely off. • Customer Service: • Exceptionally rude staff at restaurants and bars. • Orders were consistently incorrect. • Buffet staff ignored drink orders and often ignored guests entirely after seating them. • Room Reservation Issues: • We booked a double room but were told at check-in that only single king rooms were available. • Staff promised to move us the next day, but when we followed up, they denied the guarantee and got an attitude about it. • We were told room types are “preferences” and not guarantees. • Housekeeping Entering Early: • Housekeeping entered our room at 8:15 AM. • They knocked but immediately opened the door before we could reasonably walk to the door or get dressed. • Drunk College Kids Everywhere: • The bars were filled with obnoxious, drunk college kids, making the experience unpleasant and far from a relaxing adults-only getaway. • Music Killed the Vacation Vibe: • The music throughout the resort did not feel tropical or vacation-like at all. • Weddings at the Resort Lack Privacy: • Wedding receptions held in the main square were completely exposed to resort guests. • Strangers were sitting at tables watching the weddings like performances, making the receptions feel awkward and lacking any sense of intimacy. • Broken Furniture & Poor Maintenance: • Furniture throughout the resort was damaged or broken. • Religious Music in the Lobby Bar: • Christian music played in the background, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere for those with religious trauma. • Foam Party by the Beach: • This killed the relaxing beach vibe, especially being so close to the “adults-only” area. • No Elevators: • If you have heavy luggage or mobility issues, be prepared to carry everything up the stairs. The Ugly: • Sunscreen Price Gouging: • Bring your own because the resort charges $25-$50 for low-quality sunscreen. • Eroding Beach: • The beach appears to be eroding in an unsafe way. • Salon Hygiene Issues: • Brushes and clippers were reused without sanitization. • Misleading Spa Upsells: • We were misled into purchasing a body scrub separately, despite asking if it was included in a wrap treatment. Either the staff was poorly trained or intentionally dishonest. • Horrible Communication & Booking Issues: • Calling ahead to schedule spa treatments or excursions was pointless. • Staff didn’t answer or claimed they didn’t know how to book things. • Tour Group Restrictions: • If you book an external tour, you must wait outside the security gate since non-hotel-booked groups aren’t allowed in. Final Thoughts: My friends and I had a great girls’ trip despite the resort, not because of it. I would never stay here again or recommend it—this is not the luxury experience expected from a Marriott property. If you’re looking for a true adults-only experience with great food, service, and inclusivity for dietary needs, look elsewhere.

  Terrible experience!

  One of the worst vacation experiences in my 51 years on this earth. The food is terrible, and the staff clearly does NOT enjoy being there; including management when you share concerns. Save your money or your points and book elsewhere. We filed a complaint with Marriott as well, but they don't care. So disappointing!

  Great trip

  We upgraded to Diamond club to get an ocean view room...the way the resort is set up, the rooms run perpendicular to the beach so it's not really ocean view....with diamond club you get a butler..our butler was Valentin. I've never had a butler before, so I'm not sure all of the services they offer but Valentin was available for whatever I needed. He came and checked on us throughout the day at the pool, he made our dinner reservations for us, he set up a taxi for us to go shopping, he decorated our room one night. He was great, always had a big smile on his face, very polite, and made sure we had what we needed and made sure we were happy. 10 stars for Valentin! The beach was beautiful, the pool was nice, Food was good....for breakfast at the buffet I suggest getting there before 9.

  Stop looking and book this resort!!

  Just completed our THIRD visit to this fantastic resort (this time a "work trip") and cannot recommend more highly. Yes the resort is on the beach and has delicious food and very clean rooms... but it is the STAFF that goes out of their way to make this place so wonderful. Lenny- Butler: We've stayed at a few all-inclusives and Lenny has been the best butler we've had. He's kind and funny and really wants you to have the very best time in paradise. He fulfilled our requests on the first ask and checked in at least once in the morning and afternoon to make sure we were all set. It was perfect. Massiel- Group Coordinator: Massiel organized our team dinner the first night at the Diamond Club Bar. It was the highlight of the trip!! Our group had the bar and beach area to ourselves with a DJ. She was so friendly and had a special cocktail made for our team. Just a delight. She's organized and took care of everything once we booked our room block. Maria- Diamond Club Bar Server: She's a star! We love her smile and her friendliness. She wants your team to have a good time. We looked forward to seeing her every day! Yeraldin- Main Pool Server: You will love her!! She's friendly and really wants you to enjoy your stay. She takes care of everything and we feel fortunate to have gotten to know her. Housekeeping: I never saw our housekeeper but the rooms were spotless. Very appreciated after a day in the sun. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. That is what sets this resort apart from others. Bring 10's & 20's for tips, these people rely on them (including housekeeping). And they EARN that tip money, so hand it over! :)

  Fabulous time at Hideaway Punta Cana

  We had a fabulous time at this resort. Staff were very friendly and service was excellent. The beach was beautiful and we never had trouble getting lounge chairs. We ate all but two of our meals at Dorado restaurant - food and service were perfect. Any issues were sorted out efficiently and to our satisfaction. This was our first time at this resort and we will happily return.
