    Somewhat disappointed with resort

Having gone to Dreams in Puerto Vallarta with the family, I knew somewhat to expect. The resort is very pretty and our hopes were high. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and I think the staff were all great and very helpful. However, there was construction going on below our room and many of the elevators were not working. There was a shortage of towels , granted part of our visit was during a holiday but I’m expect they knew the numbers and should have planned accordingly. The lounges are older, many in bad repair. I think they are trying to upgrade the hotel, new elevators for example. All this aside, the food is a five out of ten. Much of it unacceptable and we ended up eating meals offsite. The last day, the eggs Benedict had been sitting under a heat lamp and should never have been served. I’m sorry to write this and I have never left a bad review before but they have to try harder…

    Back Home Again in 2024

As you can tell, we have been going to Dreams Los Cabos for many years (23 years). We have a few timeshares at this property. The main reason we return every year are the people. They are extended members of our family. Starting with Hectors welcome home and the entire Bell Team with their smiles and welcoming personalities. The property itself is very aged. The good news is that since being bought by Hyatt, they have begun a complete renovation. They have started with the restaurants and di a nice job with Bordeaux; it is refreshed. They are almost complete with Oceana and it looks wonderful. The lobby bar is now very warm and has become the meeting place as it used to be. The rooms are rumored to be renovated as well. They need it badly. The furnishings are old and have a great deal of stains on them We only wish the food was better; it is very inconsistent, but we still eat plenty. The bartenders in the lobby bar are inventive and efficient. Th current Captains - Pedro, Eloy, Elvis & Diana are the best team the resort has had in many years. Their priority is that you enjoy your experience at each of their restaurants. The best servers on the property are in the Seaside at lunch time - Irvin and Victor are definite keepers. Omar, the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager, is a great leader and we consider him a friend. Always there on the property as a great example of leadership to these he is responsible for. Biggest highlight - the main pool area. Perfect sized pool with a swim up bar. But with Luis & Elsa the lead pool servers (Francesco is new, but he appears to be learning well) are the best of the many resorts we have stayed in at Cabo over the past 30 years. They are so personable, happy & tireless. Lastly, a new great addition - Luis the Butler for the property, A great representative for the property and a strong problem solver. We will be back at least once next year if not twice. We provide certain comments because we care so much. Thank you fr being our second home.

    Aged understaffed all inclusive

God I hated this hotel. They didn’t disclose there was construction going on while we were staying here. Jackhammering at 9am which could be heard from our room, from the pool and from the beach. I only booked this place because the Hyatt Ziva was under construction. Had I known there would be construction here too I would have just stayed at the Hyatt. For $600 a night I expected things to at least be passable but instead it was pretty unpleasant. Overall, it was just very understaffed. It felt like all of the guests were competing for their attention. The food was mediocre with room service taking 2 hours and the order being wrong. The drinks were so watery I was left longing to pay for a real drink. I found Portofino for dinner was especially terrible. We sat there for no joke 20 mins until we got water. It was painful. We found the buffet to be the only acceptable option because then we weren’t beholden to the slow service. Even the pool was bad. There were people “reserving” pool chairs at 8am so there are no seats by 9am and I had to perch next to a tree while 30% of the seats sat empty but were “reserved” and the staff did nothing. Besides there not being enough pool chairs there weren’t even enough towels for the people at the pool so my family of 4 shared 2 chairs and 2 towels. And were left to hope we could catch the eye of one of the few staff to get another towel.

    Great Staff & Kids club

We're on our final day of a one week stay- in a premier club jr suite with our 7 year old. Before we booked we read the reviews and arrived without expectations. Favorite experience- definitely the kid's Explorer's Club. They are so organized and the activities are great. Claudia, Mimi and the rest of the team are amazing, and really know how to work with kids. They have a full 12 hour program with different activities every day. Because the Explorer's Club was so great, it allowed us plenty of time to relax at the adult pool. Octavio ran the show the entire time we were there, and made sure everyone had drinks and food. He was personable and kind to everyone, and remembered everyone's drink of choice. I usually avoid organized resort activities but the entertainment staff was too fun. They worked really hard and deserve kudos. I wish I remembered everyone's names, but a big thanks to Nirvana and her team. The Premium Club concierges were so helpful- Luis went out of his way to check on us each day to make sure we had everything we needed, and Yamileth was always smiling and ready to help. It took us about 24 hours to get into the flow of the resort, and to figure out that if we couldn't find what we needed (towels, pool chairs, different drink, dining options- anything really; all we had to do was ASK and staff were more than happy to help). The staff work so hard- they are really hustling. The no- reservations system worked out fine as soon as you realized that you were in a resort that had food and snacks all around you, and you wouldn't starve if you had to wait 30 minutes to eat. We did see some ridiculous guest tantrums that staff handled with grace and dignity. The room was large and comfortable- plenty of room for 2 adults and 1 kiddo in the comfy pullout sofa bed. The plumbing is a bit outdated but the resort is going through some different upgrades, so that might be a future stage. All in all, this resort definitely grew on us, especially because of the people.

    Will not return

I had higher hopes for this property based on prior reviews and pictures but it did not live up to the expectation. The restaurant options were quite limited and the food was subpar. My eggs were undercooked in the buffet and mixed with meat when I am vegetarian. The service varied between horrible and okay. It was impossible to get waiter service by the pool, and they do not take reservations at the restaurants so if you have hungry kids, it proves to be difficult. The hostesses at the restaurants were quite rude and concierge was less than helpful. The vegetarian options are really limited. Our best meals were had off property. The cleaning staff were excellent and serviced our rooms quickly. I have stayed at other properties in Cabo and wish we has just returned there rather than try this property. We went with a family and not one person liked the food or the service.
