    Good value for money

We had a great time. Locations of restaurants, bars in relation to the pool and beach is great, everything is really close by and accessible. We had fun snorkeling right outside the hotel. Multiple pools ensured we always had a spot to relax. The food options were ok but quite similar across the various restaurants. Would have liked to see more variety and more flavor in the food as it, as well as the drinks, seemed a bit watered down. Was unfortunate that restaurants would close without any information from the lobby about when they’d open. Wish there was more proactive information sharing about this from the reception. Liked the availability of a gym and a games room. We also really enjoyed the cafe with coffee and ice cream. The hotel really need an overhaul though. Paint is chipping and it all feels a little old. Shower didn’t have much pressure. Toilet flusher was borderline rusty and toilet didn’t flush that well. Would still consider coming back - snorkeling at the reefs south on the island is a spectacular experience!

    Great staff

We went to secrets aura with two other couples and had a great time. We did the preferred club, and think that is the way to go. I am not sure his official title, but Arbey (coordinated activities) was great, he got people involved, is super friendly, and very accommodating! He even rescheduled some activities because someone in our group wanted to do karaoke before we left. When you go here, look for Arbey! Another staff member that stood out was the preferred club pool concierge Pat, another very friendly and helpful staff member.

Incredible Beach...lack luster food...poor customer service!!

We had to be evacuated from our room at 2am in the morning due to sewer gas (methane). My wife and I were both sick and my wife felt like she was going to pass out. My wife has epilepsy associated with sleep and needs her rest nightly. We were moved to a nice room after about an hour. The next day I reached out to the general manager Antonio to discuss the problem. He was in a meting. The hotel could have left me a message on my room phone, slipped a note under my door or called me on my cell phone. Instead we were contacted that night around 7pm to see if we wanted to change rooms. We told them we had already changed rooms. When we checked out the next day I asked to discuss the situation with Antonio. He told us that they had called us at 7pm to offer us a beach side room. There was no offer of a beach side room just an offer to change rooms. Plus the sun was already set and we were leaving the next day. Antonio gave us no discount for the ruined night and was standoffish in insisting we pay our bill with no concessions and felt he had adequately addressed the issue by offering for us to change rooms again. We were offered no apology for what we went through. Very disappointed that Secrets does not empower their managers to make things right. This was the hotels problem not ours. We will be reaching out to Secrets Corporate to tell them how we were treated. We should have been refunded for the night. Secrets claims to have great customer service but this is not the case. We travel to Mexico two to three times a year and will not be staying with Secrets again.

    Incredible staff

Absolutely beautiful and outstanding resort. Above all, the friendliest and attentive staff I have experienced. Arby the entertainment supervisor interacts and makes accommodations for guests requests and needs in order to have the best experience. He is truly a gem and makes everyone feel welcome. Pat and Irving were also very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant staff was great, Sergio at oceana was great. This staff works so hard and builds great relationships with their guests. We can't wait to come back to see our friends and have a blast next year!

    In desperate need of renovations

We stayed at this hotel in 2016 and had a great experience. The problem is that no one has touched the property since—the buildings are in desperate need of renovations (leaking roofs, wet falling plaster everywhere). It took four days to get the hot water working in our room (we had tepid showers every day before) and as long for staff to stock our room with the proper Nespresso coffee pods. The food was decent, and the staff was hard-working and attentive. But for a hotel that advertises itself as a 5-star resort, it fell far short of the mark.
