    Bad food, bad entertainment, vague information when you check in and terrible resort!

    Travelers beware!!!!!! We stayed at the Bahia Principe in Runaway bay and while the people there were fantastic the resort itself was terrible. We stayed for 7 days and there was two of us, We chose this resort because of all the restaurants what they don't tell you is that many aren't open or are open only on certain days. Your only allowed 3 a la carte restaurants and booking these restaurants are nearly impossible! We arrived on a Saturday yet the first availability to book wasn't until Wednesday! Now our first experience with the restaurant was great it was clean and quite and was nice, as for our second dinner it was a nightmare!!!!!!! We went to the Mikado Japanese restaurant for teppanyaki which is one of our favorite things to eat, we received our main meal once it was cooked in front of us, half way threw my meal i noticed some weird white worms in my plate i immediately stopped eating and took one of the worms off of my plate and took a closer look upon inspection I realized it was a maggot and it had been cooked with our food, the resort did very little regarding this! The rest of our vacation was ruined I had a very hard time eating anything after this point. This resort isn't worth the money there are far better places in Jamaica for around the same price I'd say go to any of those instead!!! The entertainment was also lacking at this resort, it was slow and there was so much down time between things and on one of the nights to see one of the shows you have to pay for it, so i guess all inclusive isn't really all inclusive after all!!

    Great of you just want to relax

    Rated 5 star which I would not agree, some rooms are very dated (very dark and brown) which we got unfortunately, Had a leaky toilet yuk. The premium rooms are bright and the decor is a lovely colour blue and spacious. Restaurant /reception staff are mostly lovely, food is also good lots to choose from unsure why baked beans had sugar added to it! Alcoholic drinks not so great. WiFi is not stable but overall the stay was nice but wouldn’t stay again unless all rooms are updated and WiFi sorted out.

    Low Occupancy is no excuse for providing a poor experience!

    This was the poorest experience we have ever had at ANY Bahai Principe hotel and one of the worst in 45 years of travel. When your staff has to keep apologizing for services, activities, foods etc. and keeps blaming it on low occupancy, it a systemic and operating culture deficiency and thus an acceptance of providing a poor customer experience. If the occupancy was low, then one would expect some level of ADDITIONAL perks for loyalty members staying at the Grand Jamaica property for the first (and last) time. To the contrary, what we received even less than we paid for or expected. We would encourage anyone to find another option to the Grand when visiting Jamaica and share the same with our many travel clubs and friends. I suggested that they send some staff to the Ambar or Bougainvillea in the DR for them to see that the experience they provided is significantly lower than the other locations they are competing with. We had not been back to Jamaica in over 25 years but we will be back again soon but not to the Bahia Grand!

    Amazing Vacation at Bahia Jamaica

    Staff is the most courteous people I’ve met. Food is great - did not miss home cooking. Hotel room is spacious and clean with great ocean view. White sand beach is clean and amazing all around. Overall stay was wonderful and I will certainly return.

    Beautiful Resort with Rodents In Restaurant

    Although the resort was absolutely stunning, rooms were nice, and I was able to book a spa appointment for a stylist to finish some braids in my hair, she was friendly, quick and amazing. I was unhappy with my group dinner reservations and experience. First there were only 2 slots that could accommodate us during our stay. It was either Saturday night at the Knife at 9:45pm or Mikado Hibachi Friday night at 7:45pm. My mom originally booked the Knife for Saturday but we ended up changing to Mikado Restaurant for Hibachi because of time and our early flight on Sunday. When we arrived at resort there was a concerns about rooms. For 8 people with 3 rooms we were giving King size accommodations, when It was requested double beds at initial booking. This issue was rectified by check in time but the women at the first desk were not friendly about making the changes and the attitudes were unwelcoming. Customer service was displeasing from the start. The first night went well and the food was good. I enjoyed the guys singing birthday songs to my Grandmother. The next day we went to conceirge to confirm out reservation for the night, and Julia informed us that only one room was changed to the Mikado restaurant, one room still had the Knife restaurant and the third room had no reservation at all. After speaking to Julia at the resort she was able to squeeze all rooms in the Japanese restaurant for 9p but with NO hibachi. We came to the dinner and thats where our experience became unacceptable. We asked if we could move into the Hibachi room being that another party had left, we were told no it's still unavailable, even though my mom called days in advance of our stay to make accommodations, they were not honored. So we sat down at our table, I noticed that the menu was very non traditional and limited, so I walked my daughter over to the buffet so she can get something else to eat. We came back and sat down and my daughter saw and pointed out to me small roaches on the floor. The waitress tried to step on one but was unsuccessful. After that my sister saw something going up and down the wall in the hibachi room behind us. My daughter said maybe Its another roach and my sister said, "no thats way bigger than a roach". She refused to eat and we were slowly picking over our food, keeping a lookout in that area and after 10 minutes we all saw a big rat run up the wall! We all screamed and ran out! Clearly our 1 and only complementary dinner was ruined. My mom spoke to the manager, Tanisha who stated she would file a report with guest services. We proceeded to go to the Roundhouse for late night snack who were supposed to open at 11pm, but we waited until 11:15pm until they opened their doors. After they opened we found all the food was cold and displeasing. My appetite was ruined. My biggest problem is that they didn't offer anything that was an acceptable exchange, that could help excuse the bad experience that we had! My mom discussed our concerns numerous times to numerous employees and nothing was solved. They didn't even get incident report submitted to the management team regarding the restaurant. All the complimentary alcoholic drinks were watered down and not good. I had to ask the Bartender to remake one of my drinks on a simple strawberry Margarita. The buffet food was good. The Mikado food was not good, and the roaches and rat put the cherry on top of an unforgettable and an unacceptable dining experience. As a travel vlogger who has visited Jamaica a few times, I will say this resort was my worst experience yet. I am overall dissatisfied and disappointed with Bahia Principe. I plan on letting my other platforms know about my experience with Bahia Principe.
