  Large wedding party has fun!

  We came to this beautiful resort for a wedding. This resort is not in downtown and is not near anything. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The hot tub on the deck was a bonus. The pools are expansive but some are not heated so in January they were somewhat on the chilly side. The food and beverages were plentiful! We did tip so always had great service. We found the food to be very good quality for an all inclusive. The buffet was very big. There were lots of food choices for each meal. Room service was right on time for breakfast and delicious. They set out linens and a beautiful table. The food was hot and exactly what we ordered. The restaurants were very good and service was excellent. The bars were large and very fun. We traveled here for a wedding and it was a truly beautiful affair. The resort is very long so be prepared to walk a lot. It is in the flight path of the airport but after a day or two we did not even notice it. We were a group of 65 people and I believe everyone enjoyed themselves.

  Overall, had a nice time with my large family, but this is not a 5 Star resort, more like 3 Star resort

  I've been a member for over 10 years. Have visited practically all Legendary locations. First time at AVA. This place is a 3 Star, not a 5 Star as they advertise, IMHO! I reserved 6 rooms for my immediate family and in-Laws. Total of 16 of us. After booking all the rooms, which was the easy part, it took over 5 weeks of back and forth emails (maybe 20 emails) with several AVA employees to reserve restaurants for all seven nights. And many more emails to reserve Spa services for many of my family members. The biggest issue was not receiving replies to emails. This was extremely frustrating. Some times, 3-5 days would pass, after follow up emails, to finally receive a reply. Extremely unprofessional as far as I'm concerned. It took over 45 minutes for our transportation to get to the airport to take us to the hotel. Unprofessional when the resort is 15 minutes away. Check-in took way to long. The guy checking us in had a personality of a slug. Nice way to treat a member! They had already assigned rooms andI had no say in where I wanted to stay (North or South Building) I have always had a say in where we would like to stay. The sales guy left us after I told him I was not interested in a sales pitch in the morning. Very rude unprofessional. I believe his name was Edgar. He had said he was going to give us a tour of the resort, he never did, once he knew we would not sit in on a two hour sales pitch. He disappeared like a ghost, wow! smh Many family members never received their morning room service they ordered the night before. Multiple days of this.....This was very embarrassing for me as the member. We had 3 nights where they did not turn down our rooms at night. Several days, my family members never even had their rooms cleaned during the day. Inconsistency was the theme. This was the case with all the other rooms. Water bottles were not replenished in our room and other rooms. Not enough towels left after taking our towels during day cleanings. I could go on and on, but for the sake of not writing a dissertation, while you can tell everyone tried to do the right thing, you can tell they lacked training! This is the GM's fault and other Managers fault in their respective departments. Not bringing a creamer for coffee, asking 3 times for green juice, not bringing water after asking 2-3 times...not having spoons to stir the coffee, not having ice cream for a dessert that was supposed to be accompanied with ice cream at a Restaurant ....lot's of detailed things that you had to constantly ask for. This is not the case at a Ritz Carlton or Kimpton, of which I've stayed and can a attest, was amazing service. That was 5 star service, not this. There are many other things I'm sure I've missed but they have a lot of work to do. TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES!!! Make sure they understand people are paying good money to have a nice relaxing time! And they wonder why members are not interested in sitting in on a sales pitch.....why would I want to write a check for a large amount and update my membership, when I constantly receive sub par service?

  Such a beautiful resort and an amazing stay.

  My husband and I were unsure about this resort after reading mixed reviews, but I glad that we don’t go by what we hear we have to see for ourselves. From the time we got there until we left everyone was so friendly and happy. Our rooms were always cleaned and restocked daily. While the resort is huge and there is a ton of walking it was also a great way to walk off all the great food you will eat. The taco stand was always a hit and stayed open very late. The buffet food at lunch was very good and Black Iron was by far the best dinner we had on the resort. The food overall was good especially for resort food. The adult pool was a vibe and the water temp was perfect. And lastly yes the beach that they do have was not bad at all. Go see for yourself we can’t wait to go back.
