    Great Family Resort

Staying at the Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites these past 8 days was an awesome experience with my family. It was a great time to relax with and unwind with the family. There were 3 of us on this trip. The last time we stayed there was in 2024. The food keeps getting better and better at the ala-carte and the buffet. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. The wildlife is fun to watch and entertaining. I would like to give a special shout out to The following staff members who assisted us on our trip and if you should ever need help and get their assistance, you are in GREAT HANDS, they know what they are doing and will make sure you are taken care of: Angela Ubaldo, Montserrat Spezzia, Emma Matos, Scarlette Vertti, and Pepe Gallardo. Along with these staff members, all the other friendly staff members treat you like family. As one can see this is not your typical resort, this resort treats you like family.

    Look literally anywhere else

Easily the worst resort we have been to in Mexico. I don't how they are charging these prices. The food was worse quality and way less of a selection than other resorts. Most of the staff at this resort are not as friendly as other resorts. Barely, anyone says hi to you unless you say hit first. The "concierge" David was a joke. He kept trying to get us to go to timeshare presentations and get massages everytime we tried booking restaurants. He kept moaning, sighing, and saying he doesn't get paid enough to do his job when he just sits there all day. The other concierge would say talk to David. Neither one of them wanted to book restaurants. We talked to others that had the same experience. The funny thing is when we finally got a restaurant we were one of three tables there. Everytime we walked by restaurants with no reservations there was almost nobody in there. This resort had the worst customer service out of any resort I have been to. There were some great people there but overall the service is awful compared to other resorts. The variety of food is also way less than other resorts. The Italian restaurant had a 4 person table that held all the appetizers. Other resorts have entire rooms and buffets of options in the restaurants. The only redeeming quality of this resort is they had bourbon options other resorts dont have. I would never go to Iberostar again. It's actually wild that we paid over $2500 when resorts half as expensive have way more to offer.

    A wonderful vacation!

My husband, our two teenage daughters, my parents and my sister were here over the Easter week. We used USA Transfers to get from the airport to the resort - highly recommend. ROOMS: We arrived right at 3 and they had our rooms ready to go, a 2-bedroom family junior suite and a junior suite tropical view. Oliver was very friendly and we were super pleased to get our rooms right next to each other on ground level in building #61, which is closer to the beach. Our rooms were clean and spacious and the beds were comfortable. I liked that we had a quiet location. My girls loved the hammock chairs on the patios. CHAIRS: The first morning we slept in and then went right to breakfast. We didn't get to the pool until closer to 10, but we did find chairs, even though the resort was super full for the holiday weekend. The beach ALWAYS had chairs, at all times. For the rest of our stay, my husband would go put towels on a couple of beach chairs right when we woke up around 7:30ish. My girls and I would get our sunscreen and swimsuits on, and then we would go to breakfast around 8 to 8:30 and they would drop their things on 2 chairs by the pool on the way over. (I personally like the chair game, and I don't think I'm the only one. There's a reason why everybody does it at every resort and that's because it works for the majority. But our family prefers chairs away from the main activity/noise, so it's easy for us to get seating where we want it.) LOVE that this resort has all the palapas and shade at both the beach and pool. BEACH: We were there the end of April and it was windy, so there was sargassum. It didn't stop anyone from getting in the water and the sand in the seating area is perfect. The snack hut and bar were great. Saw the coatis, but they weren't bothering anybody and are entertaining to watch. Again, love all the palapas. POOL: My daughters spent most of their time at the quieter end of the pool. They weren't too impressed with the lazy river, but did like the slides. They really enjoyed playing volleyball in the pool. It's just such a huge pool and there's something for everyone. The pool area is too hot for me though and I much prefer the cooler breezes at the beach. FOOD: Our whole family was very happy with the buffets. (I've only been to 3 AIs, but my parents have been to about 10, so they have a good base for comparison.) There was something for everyone and the different theme nights for dinner were fun. We only tried one ala carte and that was L'Etoile. We walked up a little after 6 and they said they would have our table ready in 15 minutes, so we went to the bar to get the famous pistachio martini while we waited. The ambiance, food, service and presentation were all spot on. The Star Cafes were wonderful. I brought a tumbler for my iced soy latte every morning so I could take it straight to my chair at the beach. On our excursion morning (Xcaret, had a great time!), we were getting picked up at 7:30 am (used USA Transfers again) so we all had breakfast sandwiches there, which was super convenient. We also went to the mall a couple of times to get the smash burgers and ice cream. Our whole family was happy with the food options and food quality throughout the resort. OVERALL: We would recommend this resort to others, especially families. The overall vibe of the guests at this resort was so friendly and considerate and happy. I saw lots of groups like ours, with grandparents-parents-grandchildren. I would maybe book Lindo next time as we didn't really use the benefits of Maya. I wanted the elevator for my parents, but we lucked out with ground floor rooms. We also didn't go to the restaurants as I just didn't want the hassle of trying to book ala cartes for our large group or getting to the walk-ups and being told the wait would be super long. We probably won't be back since this sort of vacation takes us years to save up for, but it is something we really wanted to do for our family before our daughters graduate high school. No regrets, no complaints, we had a great time and made some wonderful memories! Iberostar is a truly beautiful resort! Just go - you will have a wonderful time! PS: I did not speak to the concierge until the very last day when she approached me about check out so I did not have to deal with the membership sales pressure. They called within 30 seconds of us entering the room the first day but I didn't answer and there was note slipped under the door and that was it. I was stopped at the airport by a guy in a brown vest and asked to show proof that I paid the Visitax. It was kind of uncomfortable because he was yelling at some other guy, saying see, she has it, this is what you're supposed to have.

    Do Not Even Consider

I would like to start off with the only positive, which is the lobby, the resort, the pools, the rooms are beautiful and clean. #1, We arrived and when we checked in we were informed that they have 2 rooms but only king beds. I booked a king room and a room with 2 double beds on the same floor due to children and a medical condition. (Medical note presented as well). This vacation was booked months in advance so there is absolutely no excuse. This is not acceptable, Marco informed us that they do not guarantee anything at anytime. I immediately asked for a manager who was just as rude. She informed me that if she can accommodate us it would be on different floors or different buildings. My answer was NO. We felt as if she was paying for our vacation as Marco just stood there smirking. After an hour of this and becoming aggravated we were told to come back in an hour or so and she will she if anything becomes available. When I came back after an hour they were still being difficult so I immediately called IHG and corporate, a miracle occurred and they found 2 rooms 10 rooms apart. We arrived at 11:00am and instead of enjoying the resort, the vacation I had to deal with this UNNECESSARY aggravation until 4pm. Absolutely disgraceful way to start a vacation. #2, Next course of aggravation: My daughter in law went to make reservations for the steakhouse and the Japanese restaurants, she was informed that without a room number she cannot make a reservation. Ok, so we had a room number at 4:00pm and went back to make the reservations only to be told both restaurants are booked throughout our stay. Now I am fuming from all these lies. Again, not acceptable. The next morning I began to address this matter instead of having breakfast or enjoying the pools. Met Tony at the concierge who stated he will take care of it all for me. (tipped him generously and he disappeared). I kept going back and forth and met David who said it will be done (tipped him) he disappeared as well. Spoke to Mariana who stated it was out of her control. Finally I called corporate again and met Raul who got us into the steak house but not the Japanese. Called corporate again and was told to go to the concierge of the building we are staying at. I did and met Alexis who already knew everything that was going on. By some miracle he was able to immediately get us in for 6pm the next evening. Another unenjoyable morning with aggravation until late afternoon. FYI: Neither restaurants were at full capacity at all. Steakhouse was empty for the 2 hours we were there. (VIDEO TO PROVE). Food was just ok at best all over. Resort is way way to massive, shows not good at all, drinks horrible (watered down). The talk of the pool among all the guests was rooms not being accommodated and reservations at the restaurants. I will never recommend this place. Actually, I will let people know not to consider this resort. My apologies for the long review but everyone needs to know.

    Bad Customer Service

We had an awful paint smell in one of our rooms. They didnt do anything to correct the situation. We had small children that all had to pile into one room. When we brought it up as we were leaving, they basically said oh well. How this whole situation was handled was completely unprofessional
