Christian was a great waiter at Portofino at Secrets!
This review is for Portofino. Best restaurant in the resort! Christian was our waiter and he was phenomenal! Ask for Christian!!! Try the tomato cream soup and the shrimp ravioli. So good. Central location in the resort so easy to get to. No wait.

Just what we needed
Just what we were looking for - to get out of the PNW rain and find some sun. We wanted to sit, relax and NOT go exploring. We didn't want to work to find places to eat. We wanted adult only to avoid loud wild children. Stay was Monday to Friday. Early days were very quiet, mostly older folks with same purpose as us. Starting on Thurs the younger crowd (late 20's and 30's) showed up and were more loud but nothing like a spring break crowd. Pool always had loungers - Prime spots are taken by 7:30/8:30 but there were still good spots available around 10 and always a few remaining. Towels are rolled up by staff and placed on loungers - to reserve your spot (to go eat breakfast or take a walk on the beach) just unroll the towel, lay it out, and place a personal item on the lounger. Just be considerate and only take what you will use within an hour and you won't have any problem. We were in building 5, junior suite ocean view - Room was spacious, 2 separate vanities with 2 sinks which was great . Overhead fan worked great. Drawers and wardrobe were perfect. Plenty of phone/electric plugs. Nice TV that we never turned on. Big soaking tub, large shower with good water pressure and temperature. Lighting is a little on the dark side although there are number of lights, none of them are very bright. Mattress sagging from people sitting on the edge of the bed - probably should flip & turn it or replace but otherwise it was a king and basically comfortable once I moved towards the center. Room/balcony faced the water but view looked at construction hillside and golf directly in front. Large tree growing against the building blocked much of the view towards the water. Not a great view but other buildings/rooms likely have better views. Breakfast restaurant was great. It had a large variety of choices (omelets, eggs, meats, waffle/pancake, fruit, salads, pastries, juices, etc.) Staff at breakfast was very attentive. Tipping was not consistent - some people gave tips and others didn't. Seemed not expected but appreciated. We tipped the omelet maker and the server. Dinner restaurants easy to get into if you get there right at opening but food definitely not a highlight. Small menus made over and over - you get the point. Even the Italian restaurant that gets good reviews was not great. Carbonara was a bowl of noodles with paste. We weren't there for the food but after 4 nights we were ready to move on. We always tipped the waiter although again, this didn't seem expected. It is just strange to finish a meal and then get up and leave but that's how it works. A number of large businesses ("president clubs" award type groups - meaning company was footing the bill and guests were living it up) were there so starting on Thursday the line to get into restaurants definitely formed if you were not there right at opening. Staff is a mixed bag. Most of the staff is extremely nice and attentive. Mixed in are a few waiters that definitely pick and choose who they are going to give their attention to. Even with regular tipping we had trouble getting drinks at the pool while the single ladies got tons of attention. On our last night at the Ocena restaurant we had terrible service - water glass never filled back up, glass of wine never arrived, waiter never slowed down to focus on us but spent lots of time discussing food and wine with the two single ladies at the table next to us. It was the only meal we didn't give a tip. The pool was chest deep throughout and perfect for relaxing, taking in the view, and having a drink. Never overly crowded but got close a few times. Beach is beautiful and definitely worth finding and taking a walk (swimming is not allowed for good reason). Plenty of loungers away from the pool and focused on the beach. We didn't do any of the activities but I was surprised to see three pickelball courts right off of the main lobby area. Overall I would recommend to those looking for a similar experience.

Portifino's Christian was phenomenal!
The entire trip was wonderful. While all the restaurants were delicious, our favorite was definitely Portifino. Our server at Portofino, Christian, was phenomenal-10 out of 5 stars! We will be going back for dinner, and we will request Christian!

Exceptional Service by Angelito (Angel) and Roberto at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos
We recently stayed at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos in Cabo San Lucas, and while the entire experience was wonderful, the highlight of our trip was the incredible service we received from Angelito (Angel) and Roberto, the pool attendants. From the moment we arrived at the pool, they went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, refreshed, and taken care of. Their attentiveness, warm personalities, and genuine desire to make our stay special did not go unnoticed. Whether it was setting us up with the perfect spot by the pool, remembering our favorite drinks, or simply checking in to make sure we had everything we needed, Angel and Roberto were consistently outstanding. Because of the amazing service they provided, we already decided we’ll be coming back to this resort as soon as possible. Angel and Roberto truly made a lasting impression, and I can’t thank them enough for their hospitality. If you're headed to Secrets Puerto Los Cabos, make sure to say hello to these two—you’ll be in the best hands!!

Don't set your expectations to high
Staff, grounds and location were great. Food was average except for the Hibachi grill - that was great and fun. Unfortunately being this is one of the older Secrets resorts, it show's it's age and decor, a major overhaul is needed. Do your homework as the price you spend may not meet your expectations.
