Great pools, but challenging getting around

I'm conflicted about this property. The pools are awesome and plentiful and the grounds are pretty. Our room was pretty nice (Palace Tower) but showed a bit of wear. Very clean and they made it up daily which was nice. The negatives were pretty significant however - the resort is huge and there are 2 trams (no boats anymore). We never knew when they'd come, and some of the cars had broken AC which made it miserable. We walked most of the time because it was quicker. The pool bar closed at 5 and we were sent to a nearby restaurant to get drinks. After walking there, they said they didn't open the bar til 530. Seems like a big resort should have seamless bar service. We ate at Nui Italian Restaurant which was very good - beware, restaurants close at 9. I believe the Tap Room stats open later but mostly appetizers. All in all we enjoyed our visit but with the transportation challenges I would hesitate to recommend.

    Beautiful property, lots of walking

The property is huge but beautiful, we tracked 20,000+ steps a day exploring. The rooms are large and included several chairs. The lagoon is amazing, so fun to swim with the ocean critters. Staff was friendly and helpful except at checkout - surprisingly just printed the bill and never inquired about our stay. Our room fridge was unreliable. Food was fine but very expensive. Walk to king/queens marketplace takes about 20 minutes and worth it to access more restaurants and a "grocery" store. The hotel needs to work on sustainability, they do offer bottle filling stations next to the ice machine but at the same time use lots of plastic cups and straws - so sad to see straws floating next to sea turtles in the lagoon. Guests, of course, need to be responsible for themselves to reduce these problems, but the hotel management could eliminate straws and the luau could use washable cups instead of thousands of disposable cups each night.

Mixed bag. Maybe some people just are having a bad day.

Expensive, good amenities, front desk and cleaning services…trash. I don’t enjoy being mocked when I ask for a new room key because mine isn’t working. Nor do I enjoy begging for my room to be cleaned. I’m paying enough money that they should provide these basic with a smile. I always go out of my way to be polite but my polite demeanor and friendly giggle don’t mean you can treat me like crap. Breakfast is outrageously expensive, don’t bother. The lagoon is cool but just getting a paddle board for an hour is $45 so, I don’t know. I would have sucked it up and said thank you sir can I have another until I was treated like a a@@hole by staff, then it becomes less worth it.

    Mixed Review

I have very mixed opinion on the Hilton Waikoloa Village. Good: location, amenities, friendly staff. Bad: very pricy restaurants with mediocre food. No umbrellas nor shade you have to pay for the very expensive cabanas. Outdated furnishing and decor. And the biggest problem no beach access at all.

    Disappointing at best

Brought the family here for a vacation usually go to the Marriott on the same site.. facilities here are very poor regarding guest amenities… I’m at the lagoon as I write this, and there are half as many Sun loungers as are needed.. very crowded.. and not into lying in the sand for 350 a day…additionally, very few umbrellas for sun protection, so unless your interested in skin cancer, you may be out of luck. Pool’s aren’t any better… no umbrellas, no chairs.. but… you can rent a cabana for 200 dollars… come on Hilton, spend some money on more loungers and umbrellas, we’re paying a lot of money for this place…no boats running ….though plenty parked up in the boat house, and very long waits for the train that takes you from buildings to the lobby add 30 minutes to to your journey when you head out…next year we’ll be going back to the Marriott, they seem to be a lot more interested in looking after the guests, and that’s why we go on vacation isn’t it? To be prepared? Not to be disappointed with the facilities for the price this place charges..
