  Would recommend!!

  I went here with my girlfriend. We went back and forth between resorts and are extremely happy that we chose Secrets Moxché. The pools were incredible, food was great, and the service was top notch. We would like to shout out Señor Marco from Allora bar who was the friendliest and the best bartender we met on the resort. Señor Benito from the Market Cafe was also really kind and always greeted us when we went for breakfast/lunch. Overall, we had an amazing time and would 100% recommend.

  DO NOT STAY - FOOD POISONING

  Trip Dates 10/16 - 10/22 Our stay at Secrets Moxché was nothing short of a disaster. What was supposed to be a luxury, adults-only vacation for my 28th birthday with my partner, turned into an expensive and miserable experience that was completely overshadowed by food poisoning and the resort's shocking lack of concern for guests in distress. The most serious issue occurred on our third day when both of us became violently ill after eating lunch at Preferred Club Rooftop Lounge at the resort. By the time we sat down for dinner at the French restaurant, we both started to feel ill and quickly departed back to the room. We then suffered from relentless vomiting, severe diarrhea, painful stomach cramps, high fevers, and extreme dehydration for the next 8+ hours. Instead of enjoying a vacation we spent thousands of dollars on, we were trapped in our room taking turns getting sick and wondering whether our condition would continue to worsen. The illness completely ruined our trip and turned what should have been a relaxing getaway into a frightening medical ordeal. What makes this experience truly unacceptable is how the resort responded when we asked for help. After hours of being violently sick and unable to keep fluids down, we contacted the front desk and requested something as basic as Pedialyte or electrolyte drinks to help combat the extreme dehydration we were facing. We were told that they didn't have any and that they could only provide bottled water. Left feeling helpless and increasingly weak, we had no choice but to call the on-site doctor around 3 in the morning as we started feeling lightheaded and increasingly worried for our health. The result was an outrageous $580 charge per person, totaling $1,160, simply to receive medical attention and basic treatment. Even more infuriating, electrolyte drinks suddenly became available after we paid for the doctor's visit. The entire situation felt less like guest care and more like being forced into an unnecessary medical expense when we were at our most vulnerable. After returning home, we were disturbed to discover numerous recent reviews from other guests reporting similar cases of food poisoning this past month alone. Seeing so many complaints describing the same symptoms raises serious concerns about food safety, sanitation practices, and whether the resort is doing enough to investigate and address these recurring reports. One complaint is alarming; dozens of similar complaints are impossible to ignore. Unfortunately, the food poisoning was only part of a long list of failures. Upon arrival, we were forced to wait five hours in a hot and humid lobby for our room despite paying premium prices. We paid extra for a Preferred Club Ocean-View room only to find ourselves staring at an active construction site next door. The resort pools closed at 6:00 p.m., severely limiting guests' ability to enjoy the amenities they paid for. Construction within the resort was loud and constant in the main areas by the pool. The beach was covered with seaweed, and the ocean water was brown and uninviting, falling far below the expectations of a luxury resort destination. Individually, each of these issues would have been frustrating. Combined with the food poisoning and the resort's inadequate response, they created an experience that felt like a complete waste of money. The resort failed in the areas that matter most: guest safety, accountability, transparency, and customer care. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Secrets Moxché. Between the food poisoning, the severe illness we endured, the resort's dismissive response, the $1,160 in unexpected medical expenses, the excessive room delay, the misleading room view, the early pool closures, and the disappointing beach conditions, this vacation was nowhere near worth the price. We left feeling angry, ignored, and deeply concerned that a resort charging luxury rates appeared so unprepared and unwilling to properly support guests during a serious health situation that they caused. Resort is situated behind two sets of secure gates far back from the main road. Food is the main safety concern at this resort/Illness very likely Walkability: Main sidewalks at resort are under construction and blocked off. Side paths with wooden planks to get around. Food & drinks: Food is dangerous at this resort/Illness very likely Noteworthy details: Construction ALL day, tile cutting, hammering, all in the middle of the resort by the pool. Constant loud noise. Beach was horrible, seaweed and the water was brown. No dinner buffet, must make reservations at restaurants for the entire stay otherwise you'll be stuck ordering room service for dinner which also was not great.

  Pros and cons of Moxche

  Pros - Beautiful and extremely clean property, True oceanfront view, modern and stylish decor, amazing pool selection and expansive/spacious property overall especially for an exclusively adults only resort, Leaves a lot of room so explore, convenience of app for making bookings, good entertainment options Cons - less attentive staff service at pools and at some restaurants compared to other resorts of similar ranking, restaurant experience overall was underwhelming from decor to service to food, heavily watered down drinks outside of restaurants, subpar staff guidance on available activities/entertainment, lack clear advantages of preferred club member upgrade outside of private check-in and rooftop (which non-members were still able to access)

  Serious Food Safety Concerns and Disappointing Management Response

  Our experience at Secrets Moxché has been extremely disappointing, particularly regarding food safety and the hotel’s response to our concerns. Throughout our stay, we’ve repeatedly been served cold, undercooked and, on more than one occasion, raw food, including chicken. This has left us genuinely worried about eating at the resort for much of our holiday. When we first reported the raw chicken, the Hotel Manager phoned our room and promised to meet us during our evening meal. Nobody turned up, and we’ve had no further contact. Even our tour operator, TUI, confirmed they’d been trying to contact the hotel unsuccessfully and had received no response since the previous day. After being served undercooked chicken again, we reported it to concierge and spoke with the Deputy Manager. Her response was perhaps the most concerning part of our experience. She insisted there had been no reports of guests becoming ill or being served undercooked food. When we mentioned the numerous reports of illness on social media, she simply replied that she wasn’t a member of those groups. We suggested perhaps she should join them to understand what guests are experiencing. We also explained that we’d personally spoken to another couple, one of whom had been so unwell they’d spent several days confined to their room and required a doctor’s visit. She denied any knowledge of that incident too. Most astonishingly, she claimed our chicken had been tested and confirmed perfectly cooked. How could that be possible when the chicken had already been thrown in the bin and the hotel had only seen our photographs? I want to make one thing absolutely clear: we weren’t seeking compensation. We simply wanted the hotel to acknowledge a serious food safety concern and take appropriate action. Raw chicken presents a genuine health risk. Mistakes can happen anywhere, but what matters is how a hotel responds, particularly when guests are raising concerns about their health and safety. For a resort marketed as a luxury five-star experience, the lack of communication, accountability and reassurance has been incredibly disappointing. Our biggest concern isn’t simply that unsafe food may have been served. It’s the apparent unwillingness of management to acknowledge the problem or take our concerns seriously. Sadly, this experience has completely undermined our confidence in the resort, and we would struggle to recommend it to others.

  Third Visit to Secrets Moxché – Still Our Current Favorite Resort!

  This was our third stay at Secrets Moxché in Playa del Carmen, and once again, it did not disappoint! There is a reason we keep coming back. It's truly an incredible resort with beautiful grounds, excellent food, and some of the friendliest staff you'll find anywhere. We booked the Preferred Club again, which I highly recommend. The check in process was quick and easy, and the additional amenities and access to the exclusive rooftop infinity pool, bar, and restaurant make it well worth the upgrade. Our room was absolutely incredible, beautifully designed, spacious, extremely comfortable, cold AC at night, and the views from shower and balcony were great. One of the things that really sets this resort apart is the amazing selection of pools. With seven pools, three man made cenotes, and a beautiful lagoon style beach area, there are so many different places to relax and enjoy the day. Whether you prefer a lively pool atmosphere or somewhere a little quieter, there is something for everyone. The rooftop infinity pool available to Preferred Club guests is another great bonus. The food throughout the resort was excellent. There is a great variety of restaurants, and we thoroughly enjoyed the dining experiences. The quality of the food is definitely a step above what you typically expect from an all-inclusive resort. And of course, the staff deserves a special mention. Everyone we encountered was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about making our stay enjoyable. Great service really makes a difference, and Secrets Moxché consistently delivers. After three visits, we can confidently say this is currently our favorite resort in Mexico. If you're considering staying here, I highly recommend it, and I would absolutely recommend upgrading to the Preferred Club. We're already looking forward to our next visit!
