Nov 30, 2025A solid 4.5 stars given the location, amenities, and service
We stayed here for 5 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday as a family of 3 which included my 2 children (14yo and 11yo). It was somewhat last minute as our friends also traveled to Papagayo that week and were staying at Four Seasons. Very few rooms were available at Four Seasons but fortunately, I was able to secure a bay view room with 2 Queen Beds (326) via AMEX at Andaz which is only a 10-15 minute shuttle ride from the Four Seasons. We arrived around 8p on Sunday evening but we were greeted with smiles by both the porters as well as check-in staff. In fact, the man who checked us in remember all of our names the entire week (despite being 95% full) and went out of his way to ensure that we were enjoying our stay throughout the week. If you've stayed at Mandarina in Punta Mita, you will note some striking similarities as the property is on a hillside with magnificent views of the bay. The nice difference is that its easier to walk down to the pools, restaurants, or beach at Andaz vs. One and Only Mandarina although golf carts are available. Our room was spacious and well laid out. The bathroom was of good size, albeit with 1 sink, and the shower was large with a full view of the bay. Other Pros - Every staff member was extremely friendly and helpful. You could tell that it was sincere, and they all enjoyed working at Andaz. In fact, we met a former Andaz employee at the Four Seasons who only left because her boyfriend was at Four Seasons. Also, requests were handled promptly via WhatsApp - Concierge was very responsive as Oscar and his team booked several activities (e.g., UTV, Mangrove, Aerial Adventure, Golf, etc.) in addition to dinner reservations via email a week in advance. He was also able to make modifications during our stay. - The property is spread out and while it was close to occupied, I never felt like a sardine in the restaurants, at the beach, etc. We had dinner a couple times at Four Seasons and the restaurants and lobby were simply bursting with folks. - Gym is 24x7 and it has ample cardio equipment and weights. There's also an outdoor gym where one can use weights, etc. Cons - You need to take a boat or shuttle to their main beach and beach club (Casa de Playa) which is a minor annoyance. More importantly, the beach itself is not soft sand...again, not a huge issue but just being transparent. - Restaurants were all pretty good with exception of Gaucho (pop up steakhouse). Our meal there was subpar as other venues like Chao were very good and actually not terribly expensive. I would recommend that the breakfast selections at Gaio be improved. - Golf course was super easy and not too challenging which made it quite boring. Overall, I would recommend this property if you're considering a visit to the Peninsula given its location and service level.

The Ideal Escape at Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo
We had an amazing stay at Andaz. From the moment we arrived, everyone was warm, friendly, welcoming,you can tell the staff truly enjoys what they do, and it creates a wonderful atmosphere. The pools overlooking Papagayo Bay are breathtaking, and seeing monkeys and iguanas around the property made the experience even more special. It feels like being surrounded by nature while still enjoying all the comfort of a luxury resort. We visited in late November, and it was the perfect time to come. The start of summer in Costa Rica means everything is lush and green, with bright blue skies and fantastic weather. We ended up spending most of our time at the resort because it was so peaceful and relaxing. We were recommended nomad tourscr at the hotel, and we’re so glad we went with them. Gabriel was incredibly easy to communicate with through WhatsApp and suggested the best private tours, like the Rainforest and Buena Vista Adventures,beautiful, well-organized, and not crowded at all. A special thanks to our guide Luis; my family truly loved him. They also helped us with our airport transfers, which made everything even easier. We highly recommend Andaz Papagayo for an unforgettable stay in this amazing place.

Best place I’ve ever stayed
Best Hotel/Resort I’ve ever stayed at. Amazing property for family and kids. Fun and beautiful pools. Incredibly delicious food. I never visit the same place twice but might be back to the Andaz Papagayo again!
