Peaceful, jungle oasis
Beautiful location in jungle setting. Very lush and felt like staying in a tropical jungle which it is! Lots of wild life and natural setting. Room overlooking the water was very nice. Nice that there were no cars too. Bikes and golf carts to get you around. Pool was average looking. Staff excellent

Great Boutique All-Inclusive Experience
We visited Andaz for our 10th anniversary, and spent a week in one of the beach-side rooms - we were very impressed & had a great time! Many of the other guests were couples, with some small children in tow (no loud party groups, which made relaxing by the pool a lot more enjoyable). The staff were all fantastic & the quality of the food was top notch (try the lobster tail at Sotavento or the duck at Casa Amate). There are two pool areas, as well as a gorgeous beach. You get around the property either with the communal bikes or golf carts, and we found there was lots to see and do when not relaxing on the beach or at the pool in between on-site activities / cruises of the natural canals / visiting the cenote / golf / walking over to the adjacent Fairmont property / biking the 5km nature trail. Would go back without hesitation!

Just incredible!
Wow. If I could give this hotel more than 5 stars, I would. We had an incredible trip! Service - amazing! All of the staff were incredible. It was my son's 2nd birthday and everyone treated him so special. We were treated with a room upgrade with the plunge pool (we also used a GOH award and prive benefits). I know how difficult it is because of thanksgiving week, but the staff made it happen. Thank you also for the gifted alligator - he still sleeps with it. My son LOVED the plunge pool as it was heated and an amazing place to relax at the end of the day. The golf cart service was very efficient. I read reviews that others waiting >30 minutes. The most we ever had to wait was 10 minutes and most of the time it was waiting for us. This complimentary service was so helpful as the property is huge as it was difficult to walk everywhere with a toddler. All of the restaurants had a cute little birthday surprise which he loved so much. He still remembers! Food: Breakfast was included thanks to our GOH and it was incredible and huge. One of the best breakfast I've ever had! They had pretty much everything you could imagine. Waffles, pancakes, fresh tortillas, omelette station, pastries, bread, cheese, fruits, juices, etc. The fresh quesadilla station was a huge hit! We were stuffed until the late afternoon! Property: So, so beautiful. The sand on the beach was super soft. The staff has some sand castle toys that my son could use and he loved that. The kayaks and paddle boards were fun! Both sides of the hotel had its charm. The ocean, is well the ocean. Gorgeous sunrises, water, etc. The pool is a tad smaller on this side and not heated. We would have loved for this pool to be heated. But we had out plunge pool so it was completely fine. The pool on the lagoon side was where we spent most of our time. There is a section that was heated and it was WONDERFUL! We would spend all day here. Plus the cabanas are super cozy! Overall, our vacation was absolutely wonderful and one of our favorites. We will definitely be returning! I wanted to especially thank Ana for going above and beyond to make sure our stay was nothing short of amazing. Also, thank you to Adrian the boat driver/golf cart driver for a fun lagoon tour. My son had a blast! Thank you to the entire staff at Andaz for making my son's birthday incredible!

Great week and can’t wait to come back!
My family just returned from a wonderful week at the Andaz. The highlight of the trip was the kind and attentive staff. The staff is extremely accommodating. They go above and beyond to make your experience memorable. From the front desk, to servers, to golf cart drivers, to housekeeping, everyone made us feel welcomed. The staff is what makes the resort feel like a luxury resort. We spent most of our time during the day at the beach and the beach pool. Service and the food were perfect. The tuna tostados from the beach grill menu were delicious! Dinners were also amazing at Casa Amate and the beachside restaurant. We ate at Casa Amate twice— the kampachi starter and the red snapper were so good! I would suggest making reservations the week before you arrive. We also ate at Banyan Tree and the Rosewood. Service at the Rosewood was great, food was ok. Service at Banyan Tree was subpar, but the food was wonderful. Top scores for cleanliness both in our room and around the property. The only thing that could have made the week a little better would have been better communication. For example, we had no idea there was live music in one of the restaurants on Wednesday evenings or that there are Mayan dancers at the Cenote in the afternoon once a week. We learned about both of these after the fact. I visited the spa and it was nice. The service itself was good, and the staff were great, but the sauna and steam room were both off when I arrived so I didn’t get to use them before my services. I do think it’s overpriced for what you get. I wish I had gone to one of the other spas in Mayakoba. We played golf and loved it. We didn’t do any water sports because it was very windy, but I highly suggest booking a private breakfast ecotour. Our guide was knowledgeable and we loved learning about the wildlife. This was a highlight of the week. We also enjoyed visiting the cenote. We love the Andaz and will definitely be back!

Mediocre
I have been to the Mayakoba complex 10+ times and stayed at the Fairmont and Banyon Tree on prior visits. I think my Mayakoba is a fantastic destination. I wanted to try Andaz by Hyatt because I perceived it as a vibrant lifestyle brand and that they would be offering plenty of options for my vegetarian husband. The property definitely lacks luxury. It feels very old and tired. The main pools are not well maintained. One is very, very warm. The other is fairly cold. Service at the main pool by the Lagoon rooms lacks. The food service is the room service menu.Lounge chairs are not comfortable. The pool at the beach had better service. The restaurants have similar menus so it’s very difficult to get your value on the all-inclusive package. For example, we traveled to the Banyan tree for Thai food and the Fairmont for Italian food. Breakfast buffet is OK, not great. The Mexican fiesta dinner on Wednesday nights in Casa Milagro was excellent. The team very enthusiastic. The entertainment good. Staff is friendly, but not warm. There are rumors the property is for sale or changing hands or being rebranded which may be part of the problem. We booked a lagoon room and I had expectations from Banyan tree and Fairmont of being on the lagoon. We have a tree view with a peekaboo of the lagoon. The walking or golf cart ride from the lagoon main section of the resort to the beach section of the resort is longer than Fairmont. Room service has a limited menu, but they have been prompt every time. Very difficult to get dining reservations when you want them where you want them. I can only imagine they are short staffed because occupancy is very low so we should be able to get into any restaurant at any time. They have been accommodating for my husband, but there is absolutely a lack of true vegan and vegetarian options. You have to be creative and go off the menu. They changed their vegan bar menu to include animal proteins. All in all, the destination is fantastic, the value was excellent however I think it’s because they’re struggling so they are offering incredible promotions. I heard many guests say they got a great deal and that’s why they were here. The pool complex is child friendly. They also have a kids club that looks good, I have no idea because I didn’t have children on this trip. The Eco tour by boat through the lagoons is excellent. Access to El chameleon golf course is a plus. Spa treatments are expensive, they look good but we opted not to partake. Looking for a festive environment they have very, very few holiday decorations. If you’re planning on going, I recommend reading recent reviews.
