This hotel desperately needs refurbishing. It is in a great location, just one block back from the seafront, which is why I booked it, but the photos used to advertise it must have been taken years ago. Our room was dated, especially the kitchenette and bathroom, and the air con unit was noisy and allowed a lot of outside noise in, as it was surrounded by just a louvre blind. The pool area had a lovely view, but the lounger cushions were so dirty stained that we didn't want to sit or lie on them. No housekeeping is offered unless you stay for 6 nights or more. Reception staff were lovely and friendly though.

had an awesome stay at pacific monarch!! i live on the big island and just flew over to oahu for the weekend for a concert. i work on pools here, and so i chose this hotel because the rooftop pool looked very intriguing ... glad i did!! also, i'm sure most people want an ocean view, and they do have great ocean views, but i specifically requested a city view because i look at the ocean every day. i was not disappointed and was totally captivated by looking at all the tall buildings, both from my room balcony and especially from the roof!! also a cool lounge area on the top floor with a pool table. tons of stuff within walking distance, quick block or two walk to waikiki beach

WELCOMING, CLEAN, GOOD LOCATION
My wife and I travelled to the Pacific Monarch at the end of August for 27 nights. This was our fourth time to stay at this hotel. As we were flying from Northern Ireland we had three flights before we knew we would arrive at the hotel. Belfast - London - Los Angeles - Honolulu, all in one day! Collected our hired car at the airport and headed for the Pacific Monarch. On our arrival we were welcomed with a big smile from Catherine, whom we have known from our previous stays. Booking was straight forward, given our room key, wi-fi password, and reminded us to pay for our parking ticket on the first floor of the garage. We were only using the car for three days and were familiar with the parking rules. With the car safely put to bed for the night, it was time for us to take the elevator to floor twenty and to our room. The same room we have had on all our previous stays, and one we are very fond of. Before getting ready for bed, we had a look out through the glass sliding doors onto the balcony, and the wonderful view of Waikiki all lit up. Have to wait until daylight to see the sea. After a good nights sleep, in a comfortable bed, we emptied our suit cases and put their contents into the double sliding door wardrobe and the chest of drawers. There is also a small safe in the wardrobe, at no extra cost. The room is amply furnished, with a table and four chairs, a large settee which converts to a bed, with a lamp on either side of it. The wall behind the settee is all mirror, which gives the impression that the room is much larger. A large flat screen multi channel television adorns the wall, along with a couple of framed paintings. The kitchen is of sufficient size for two guests, with a two plate electric cooker, kettle, coffee maker, rice cooker, microwave oven, saucepan and a large fridge freezer. Cupboards and drawers stock cups, plates, bowls and cutlery. Washing up soap is also included. The small bathroom has a good strong shower, wash hand basin and toilet. there is also a wall mounted mirrored cabinet. Towels and face cloths, and amenities are all provided and topped up when required. The rooms are serviced every third day for guests who are staying longer than seven nights. We were fortunate to have Julie service our room, and she remembered us as soon as she seen us. The Pacific Monarch is very bright and clean, and has had three new elevators which will take you to the thirty third floor where the open air swimming pool is situated, giving great 360 views from Diamond Head, out to see, across the city and Koko Head and Koko Crater. The pool is heated by the sun. Across the roof from the pool is a B-B-Q area which can be used by guests, a a little further is a hot tub jacuzzi. On the same floor there is a Hospitality Room and Sauna. What hotel brochures don't tell you is that this hotel as the friendliest staff that my wife and I have ever seen. With Keiko, Cherley, Catherine, May Rose, Christieanne, Danny and Blake on Reception, all very helpful with any questions or problems. As the time came for us to leave, staff were asking if they would see us again, at the same time, next year. We are already discussing a return to our "home from home." Thank you Pacific Monarch for giving us a very enjoyable and memorable holiday. MAHALO.

Good Location, but Hotel needs improvement
The hotel’s location is very convenient and was one of the main reasons we decided to stay there. Unfortunately, the hotel itself feels quite dated, and the room was not as clean as we would have expected. The air conditioning was extremely loud, which made it difficult to sleep comfortably. In addition, the pool area is in rather poor condition and could definitely benefit from some maintenance and renovation. Overall, while the location is a major advantage, the hotel would need some significant improvements in terms of cleanliness, maintenance, and comfort.

Great place
Location is very convenient, i'd stay here again for sure. I personally loved the tiny kitchen inside the room, able to make my own coffee every morning and also the very useful fridge
