    Annual Tradewinds Trip

We stayed for one week at the Stellaris Tradewinds level. We have been coming to this hotel for several years and were always pleased with the food and service provided to Tradewinds guests. We also enjoyed the beach palapa access and adult pool. This year we ran into a few hiccups with our stay. Upon checkout we spoke with Manager Julie-Ann Dijkhoff who was not aware of some of the issues we had. Julie Ann was polite and professional and thanked us for letting her know how to improve the Tradewinds experience. Julie-Ann assured us that these problems would be fixed on our next visit. We were reluctant to return but Julie-Ann did right by us and made us feel confident to return next year for another family trip.

    Wonderful resort

I had a great stay here Loved being on the beach Food at Mercat and Atardi was good Nice to have a casino on site Clean and comfortable rooms Yoga and Pilates by the beach was nice Everyone was friendly, service was great. If you get tired of going to Starbucks, there is another cafe next door at the Marriott Ocean Club or The Ritz Carleton.

Love Aruba / Skip this resort

Given room 444; Extremely dated; Made reservations 6 months before arriving - $500 a night with a view of the roof and noise of workers drilling and banging all around us. *See photos* - a/c worked great though. They were never able to stop the bathroom mirror from blinking; sometimes we had a full sets of towels [without asking], sometimes we did not. Cooler in room stopped working so maintenance brought a whole new refrigerator and just plugged it into the wall near TV and left the broken cooler in place. Odd. Room was not associated with their vacation club but they still tried to sucker me into that. I laughed. Guy knew the room we were in and understood why I laughed at the prospect of joining their club. Nighttime turndown service occurred every evening- thanks for that, I guess. I’ll stick to IHG properties where I’m actually treated properly. Love Aruba - Been several times. Will never stay at Marriot property again.

    Pluses and minuses

Check in was more stressful than necessary as we arrived admittedly early but were not assigned a room till after 4:30 PM. Not realistic. The staff was friendly enough but mot terribly helpful. Room was nice and large with comfortable bed and roomy bath area. Service was spotty with towels never completely missing hand towels or washcloths. Nice property with a nice beach and decent on property dining. Parking inadequate during midday periods. Really bad. For 500 per day I would expect better.

    Overall, a good stay!

We enjoyed our stay at the Marriott Stellaris hotel. We had the Tradewinds and were happy with the amenities it provided. Our room was nice, nothing fancy but we loved our ocean view. I want to recognize the several staff members who were amazing! Nelson, best server at the pool! Friendly, warm, efficient, interested in meeting guests & learning about them. He shared a bit about his family & life in Aruba. James, security guard around the pool area. He has a contagious energy! I think he gave a friendly greeting to EVERY person he passed. It was a true joy to see him dancing along to the music. Just a wonderful asset at a resort IMO! Kathleen w/ concierge desk was so thorough in helping us decide on excursions, really took her time w/ us. Most of this team was really great! I apologize that I don’t recall everyone’s name. Margaret & Steven in the Tradewinds lounge really stood out to us also. Hard workers, friendly, seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs & enjoy speaking w/ the guests. We felt the service in the restaurants (particularly Mercat) could use some extra training. The staff in this area didn’t seem happy, were not eager to help. Just a blah atmosphere. We came back from an excursion on a Sun at noon and went down in our swimsuits/coverups (totally normally acceptable) for brunch. It was packed! Unbeknownst to us, we were the only ones in swim attire. Everyone else was dressed up (perhaps locals?!). We felt uncomfortable that we were not told by the host that this was the attire for this particular Sun buffet. Instead, she sat us away from everyone near the bar, far from the buffets. If she had let us know, we would have gone & changed & come back. It was so uncomfortable and we got many “looks”. Every other day, everyone was dressed in their swim coverups etc! The casino was fun to do in the evenings! Overall, a great stay in a great location if you’re not looking for anything fancy. The rooms while adequate did seem a bit outdated. Also to note, the reservation system for the palapas could use some work as well. The app seemed more complicated than it needed to be. We would stay again and hope to see future improvements!
