Oct 07, 2026Sitting on the Pacific Ocean
So much Hawaii. I have been wanting to go to this resort since it opened many years ago, but knew it probably would never happen however low and behold while planning our Hawaii vacation we rolled the dice and said we’re going. The reviews for this resort were so much better than anything we were looking at on Waikiki. This is a beautiful resort, sitting on a stunning lagoon with a great walking path. Everyone was so incredibly friendly. Our Spa experience was incredible and we have both been to a lot of resort spas. Vicki was such a great masseuse. I wish I could afford to fly there a couple times a year just to get a massage. I spent almost every evening and every morning sitting on the balcony, listening to the Pacific, hit the shore and the rocks it was an unbelievable sound. watching the sunset - pictures could do it no justice. it’s an incredibly clean resort. The lazy river was a lot of fun. And a little reef they have on property was fun because I knew I would not get eaten by a shark. The hard thing about staying there is there are so many activities at that resort along with it is such a beautiful place you don’t go explore very much. I will say logistics is a bad thing because most everything we did was back toward Waikiki such as hiking Diamondhead, Pearl Harbor eating at Dukes. It was all painful drives in horrific traffic. But my cousin and I both said yeah, we go do it again. There is a Starbucks and a little shopping area not even a quarter of a mile off property. Very walkable.

Oct 04, 2026Struck in the head by a kayak
We stayed at Aulani soon after it opened. The property itself is very nice, and our daughter loved the water slides. While swimming in the resort's lagoon, a guest in a sea kayak rammed me directly in the head. The impact knocked me under, and I struggled to resurface and get myself back to shore. The on-duty lifeguards failed to engage. Paramedics evaluated me and told my wife I was lucky to have survived. They advised me not to fly or travel for a few days. We paid to extend our stay so I could lay in bed recovering before the long flight. In hindsight we are incredibly grateful we didn't allow our daughter to swim/snorkel in the lagoon. As a former Disney executive, I was very disappointed in how the staff handled all of this.

An Appaling Experience
The Ko Olina location was great. Out of the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. The hotel was awful: - There was dried vomit on the toilet seat in one of our bathrooms. - It was ridiculously crowded. We could never find chairs at the pools and the pools themselves were as crowded as a town swimming pool on a hot day. - At $3000/night there was no complimentary water in the room - My grandson was unable to enjoy the volcano water slide because the line was always too long - I tried to make a Luau reservation one month before our trip and they were sold out - We couldn’t watch a Disney Movie in the room without signing up for 12.99/month subscription - We ate one meal at the hotel. It was expensive and mediocre. - Overall an appalling experience, especially at $3000/night

Children's fun Paradise resort
We went to Honolulu Airport through Alaska Airlines & Hawaiian Airlines to reach this Aulani , Disney and Spa resort on 2nd September & stayed upto 7th September 2026. As soon as we reached Honolulu Airport, my son rented a vehicle from Hertz and we drove to "Down to Earth " and purchased vegetables and fruits and provisions for our one week vacation. We took Milk shakes & Lunch at this spot & reached at Aulani Disney and Spa resort around 2 pm and at the concierge we checked in & got a Double room at First floor nearer to the Pool area at 3 pm only. The Assitants of this Hotel Resort brought our Baggages and Bags through a wheeled Trolley to our allotted Roomate EWA Tower ,first floor. This double room resort is very well furnished with 2 Queen Bed cot in guest room & 1 big King Bed Cot with attached bathroom and a Kitchen with all essential utensils and coffee maker & a microoven . The dining area and family room , though covered with a small space, contained TV , Washer & Dryer and dining table & chairs and a Patio is very adjacent to the Road access and pool area. The Bathrooms contained a Tub & shower & all Toiletries including Towels. There is a closet in each room for keeping the luggages. Our Patio is very adjacent to the main entrance of this EWA Tower where all the Characters are meeting the guests & children for an autograph & photos. The daily schedule of activities are displayed on screen at the Lounge area and as well as through the Aulani app in our mobile. Our daily morning walk along the Beach Trail starts at 6 am & will end at 7.30 am. After a coffee/ Tea at our room, we go to the Pool area to get the access band & Towels to keep on the beach chairs for our use after a swim walk along the Lazy river stream with a Life buoy ,as we are Senior citizens & our children & grand son 4 years old,got a Life guard and they swim across the river and enjoy through a forcible slide. The Life guards are watching the guests and children on either side of the banks from 8 am to 6 pm . We can attend pool party with Mickey & other characters at this Pool & and book for Break fast & Lunch with characters. Lot of Fitness and Yoga programs can also be prebooked through the App. We with our grandson met the Characters " Chip and Dale" at Ball room & took photos & autograph on wooden design board purchased from Lounge Shop. We also met Mickey,Minnie ,Daisy Duck & Stitch. We went to ABC stores very nearer to the Roadside of this Resort to purchase Micky & Minnu toys & dress material for our grandson. We booked for Rainbow Reef for fish feeding spot and they offer the feeding material for the children to feed various colourful Fishes coming nearer to us to get their food. We went to Japanese Bitani Garden & then to Ganesh Dosa , an Indian vegetarian restaurant, "Ganesh Dosa " at Honolulu for lunch & took yummy Crispy Dosas . Room service cleaning is done every alternate days replacing the Bed sheets & Towels. I approached the Concierge & met Mr. D J . for supply Shaving Kits & repairing of a Lamp at our room & he is very kind enough to supply immediately. Overall look of this Resort is excellent. We had our first stay at Aulani after years of Disney trips and resorts. It is a typical Disney resort minus the parks and add an ocean. If you couldn’t see the Ocean you would swear you were in a resort at Disney World. Plenty of pools, restaurants, characters, friendly staff and immaculate grounds. Beautiful property and a nice way to spend a few days in Hawaii.
