Great time at the Azul Grand Ixtapa.

Located 8 minutes from Ixtapa and 20 minutes from Zihuatanejo on Playa Linda. Local bus 13 pesos to Itapa and 20 pesos to Zihuatanejo. Azul Ixtapa has a little beach that stretches for a kilometer to a nice little eco area with crocodiles, a large colony of birds and green Iguanas. You can take a boat, 100 pesos, to Isla Island for snorkeling and 4 beaches. You can do free non-motorizd water sports. Plenty of other activities available. Lots of restaurants, bars and pools. The Azul Grand Ixtapa is a few hundred meters down the beach. Great rooms with and facilities. They also have shared privileges at the Azul Ixtapa. Pickelball and tennis courts at both resorts. Also mini-golf and bikes.

    Pleasantly Surprised

After reading some of the negative reviews here, I was a little worried about our stay at Azul. But once we got past the front desk, it was really a great experience. The people working there (outside the front desk) were amazing and helpful. Most of them speak little or no English so be prepared for that if you dont speak some Spanish. Also, make sure you convert to pesos before leaving he airport because many taxis do not take US dollars. Overall, the pool areas were very clean and the kids had a great time. The food was above average as were the drinks. They do have shows at the theatre facing the southern building so staying in that building can be loud from 8.30-9.30pm. You are a 200 peso cab ride to Ixtapa and there is nothing just ouside the hotel. Playa Linda is a short walk and Ixtpapa Island is a short kayak or water taxi away. The beach is not beautiful but it is clean. Also, there are several racoons that visit the pool after after they close at 7pm so dont let that freak you out.

This was HELL. Do not stay you will regret it.

DO NOT STAY HERE. I always look at reviews and think people are too critical but please see this as a true experience. Have stayed at AZUL hotels 15 times before. This time it was pure hell. The 2 rooms we had 3416 & 3417 are directly in front of he theatre and beside wedding and event field. The wedding go late into the night and the shows rock your room. After first night asked to change rooms. Told needed to come back 3 times then needed night manager since he is the boss? No one in charge during the day! He was useless and said he would leave a message for morning. Never did. Next day the hotel was under repair. Jack hammers in the he pool area. When I complained we were not notified at check in, I was told they do not have to tell quest. I would not have paid 10 days at check in, which I was told was not refundable. I was told it would only be between 10am and 6pm. Again asked for room change, told needed the night manager again no message. Gave up 3rd night. Obvious hotel is going under and not likely to be feasible. The high-lite was we never worried about chairs at pool or seats at restaurants. The resort had minimal guest. Staff member said it was the worst he had seen in his 11 years. Building need repair, escalators not working, restaurants closed, grounds failing. Had great memories of the AZUL hotels but heed my warning - do not stay you will regret it.

    Stay elsewhere

⭐️ Disappointing Stay – Not 4-Star Quality Unfortunately, this resort did not live up to expectations, especially for the price we paid. Our room had several basic shortcomings: the bed sheets didn’t fit the bed properly, there was no mini fridge, no beer, snacks, or coffee in the room, and no room service included. While the view from our room was nice, that was one of the few positives. Food was a major letdown. There is a snack bar available mid-day, but options were limited. Of the two restaurants on site, only one was open our first night and the food choices were very few. Everything we tried was flavourless and mushy. The following day we tried the other restaurant, which was noticeably better, but still not impressive. The buffet overall lacked variety, eggs took a very long time to be prepared, and most dishes were again bland and poorly textured. The beach was another disappointment. The sand is hard and dark brown, not what you’d expect from a resort destination, and there were no chairs set up. The pool area was extremely busy and loud, with constant music and entertainment, making it difficult to relax. Check-in was frustrating. The staff member was not helpful and did not explain basic logistics—such as where the elevators were, or that to reach the beach you must take an elevator to a floor below the lobby and then change to another elevator that isn’t close by. I am in a wheelchair, and no accessibility guidance or suggestions were offered at all, which was especially disappointing. We also tried multiple times to get smaller bills for tipping, but were repeatedly told that no change was available. Overall, the price was far too high for what felt like a very low-budget experience. This property is definitely not anywhere near a 4-star resort, and we would not return.

My room was on the !9th floor and had a marvelous view of the beach which I enjoyed very much. It was very clean, and the housekeeper was very good. Recommendations to make it upscale, is to add a mini fridge with a couple of soft drinks, chips & nuts and candy bars, and of course water bottles. Also, the towels where rough to the touch, they need to be renewed. We liked that they had a coffee shop in the lobby, and it was pretty good, it would have been excellent if they had a better selection of flavors to add to our coffee, it also lacked a better selection of bakery goods. The attendant was always courteous and provided the best possible service. Pool area definitely needed more waiters, in the entire week that we were there, we were only attended once. The restaurants were equivalent to Denny's in the states, with the exception when you are given the opportunity to fine dining at the specialty restaurants 3 times only. The menus where very limited, Seafood was not available with the exception of a crab cake appetizer. Overall, our stay was average! We went out to dinner in town where we took advantage of the 5-star seafood restaurants.
