Will not recommend.
Stayed 7 nights and left disappointed. Food was poor overall—even the à la carte restaurants were worse than the buffet. Service was inconsistent and clearly tip-driven; without constant tipping, staff felt indifferent, which defeats the purpose of an all-inclusive resort. Pools were dirty and poorly maintained. Entertainment was just okay. The worst part was the aggressive Privilege Club sales team, who repeatedly pushed memberships and ruined the relaxed vacation vibe. Would not return. Not recommended.

Second time it did disappoint a bit, but still had a great vacation
Spent 8 days at Fantasia Bahia Principe Punta Cana from Dec 31st 2025 till Jan 7th 2026. We arrived with big expectations since we have visited the hotel 6 years ago and we loved it before. The check in went very well, super quickly through the app of the hotel 5 days before arrival and upon arrival getting our bracelets was really quick and smooth. We have gotten a ground floor castle view hotel on the left side of the property. The rooms were a bit worn compared to how we saw it 6 years ago. Maybe the maintenance is not as thorough as we have expected. Specifically meaning the bathroom that was very easy to flood because the shower door was not sealing and if we didnt direct the water towards the wall, the bathroom and the room was flooded in no time. We learnt the lesson on the first day. The room cleaning was impeccable, very attentive, every single day a new towel creature was waiting for us on the bed, the kids loved it and us parents too. The property is huge, there are 7 hotels together. We have spent a lot if time at the Fantasia pool which is always clean, the temperature of it was refreshing but not too cold. The pool bar was great but the staff didn't seem enjoying their work, couldn't get a smile out of them. The entertainment at the pool was a bit disappointing except for the foam party. We felt that the games were boring and the staff wasn't energetic at all. Again, we had previous experience , I remember the pirate party and all the fun kids activities at the pool from 2020. This time there were some "crazy games" which weren't so engaging. The kids have tried the Kids Club for 2 hours, they didn't want to go back, they said the staff wasn't as nice and they had preferences between the kids with whom they were way more engaging. My daughters loved the water parks, we tried all 3 (Fantasia, Esmeralda and the main Waterpark close to the entrance of the whole property). Their favorite was the one at Esmeralda because the water was deeper there and there was no waiting line at all to get on the slides. We loved the beach, it was great. The sand is soft and clean. There was some sargassum when we were there but it's nature we didnt mind it. It was collected many times during the day. I have signed up for Volleyball on the beach court from the activites, but was able to play only once a 10 points game because it was always super busy, and some people barely could play while others were holding up the court for pretty long time. We spent some time at the pool of Grand Bahia Principe close to the beach and we loved that pool. The entertainment team was so much more energetic there. For the night shows we couldn't really understand the system, it has been changed since we were there last time. Not every night there was a show and the castle lightshow was not consistently at the same time. We have watched the Pirates of the Caribbean show, the Circus and the Magic show. They were great, the Candyman show didnt really entertain the kids. We have attended the Mini disco with the kids multiple times, it was cute but always the same songs and same dance moves were presented. Also we have been there for the Fluo party, it was couple of songs to dance with the kids and then the parents were competing to dance to the Gasolina. It seems like its a common "challenge" at the hotel but having every second day a parent dance challenge for Gasolina, is a bit boring. They could change the song or the concept of the challenge. The food was really good, we loved the breakfasts at the Buffet, lot of variety every day, fresh fruits and veggies, eggs freshly prepared in multiple ways. It was the highlight of the day in terms of food. For lunch we had done the buffet twice which was good, again lot of different things to choose from. Also we have had lunch at the beach restaurant which was also great. For dinner we choose restaurants and some other nights we had dinner at the buffet to stay in the proximity for the evening activities. For restos we tried Italian (8/10), Mexican (10/10), Garden circus (7/10), Japanese (9/10). During the day we also tried the snack bar at the Fantasia water park and it was good for one. Nothing amazing but since we had a great breakfast every day, we didn't feel very hungry during the day. The property is beautiful, lot of nature, birds, flowers. We have seen multiple hummingbirds which was the first time for me. The shuttle service is great and if you want to discover the other hotels you can do it with different shuttle "cars" just need to ask the driver where he is going. Overall we liked our vacation, even though we were not crazy about the room and the entertainment at Fantasia since it feels like things that were great in 2020 were missing now. We felt that the entertainment team changed completely and it seems they were way younger than the ones we knew from before, they were not so engaging and welcoming. Before I was giving a 10/10 for our stay, this time its a 8/10 since we paid more than before, but the value was less for the higher amount. Not sure if we will return to Fantasia, maybe yes. I do like Bahia Principe but there are other hotels in the area where you might pay less for a similar experience.

Below a zero
Review Where to begin. Let’s start with the airport. Waited over an hour for suitcases. Once getting to Fantasia I remembered why I have not been to the dominicain in 6 years. The staff is not welcoming whatsoever. The rooms are disgustingly. We were in a junior suite and the bathroom didn’t flush. My son slept on the sofa bed and they didn’t have proper sheets to go around the mattress so every night he ended up sleeping on the mattress instead of sheets. I called 4 times for extra pillows even went to the front desk nothing. It took me writing a note to the cleaning staff with a twenty dollar bill to get extra pillows. Let’s talk about the food. So lunch option was an outdoor grill when it was open but they would randomly close for who knows what reason. The pool food restaurant was a choice of a hot dog, a grilled cheese and ham sandwich or pizza. So if you’re gluten free you have an apple or pear as an option. Went to an Italian restaurant where I told staff my daughter was allergic to nuts. She orders a pasta where the waiter says no nuts. Low and behold it’s drizzled with pesto. I ask the waiter if it was pesto he says no. But it was pesto luckily my daughter didn’t eat the dish! Then one of the staff members apologized and says yes it was pesto. Honestly the lack of attention to allergies in 2026 is appalling. The resort was dirty, old, staff was rude. I will never go back to the dominicain republic and definitely not to the Fantasia. Is there a rating below a zero? Oh did I mention I think we got bed bug bites..,.

The staff steal
Nice resort . Food is mediocre . I wanted authentic Dominican food what they serve is not! At least the fruit was fresh and the dining hall attendants were excellent. Beware if you go don’t put any money in the safe !! The cleaning crew stole my money!! I was there after the death of my father literally a week before and that just devastated me further !! Keep your money on you at all times!!!

Great weather, pols and beach, the rest was a let down.
Check-in & Orientation: Our stay started on the wrong foot with a rushed check-in and no real orientation. We weren’t given basic information such as buffet times, show schedules, or how to book a la carte restaurants — we were simply told to download the app. Unfortunately, the app isn’t designed as an orientation tool and was confusing to use. It often showed different restaurant availability than what the concierge could see, and we later learned we could have booked restaurants five days before arrival — a detail no one mentioned. Room Quality & Maintenance: The room felt outdated and somewhat worn, especially the bathroom. The shower drain clogged immediately, one sink was broken, and the water temperature swung from scalding hot to usable after 30 seconds — not ideal after a long travel day. Dining & Booking Experience: Booking a la carte restaurants was frustrating, with several days showing no availability. The concierge eventually explained that New Year’s menus were the same across restaurants and helped secure spots despite the app showing “full” — something the front desk should have explained. Food handling practices raised concerns — we saw an omelet-station worker handle waffles with a hand covered in raw egg. Service overall felt indifferent and sometimes rude, with limited English and little warmth. We arrived ready to tip generously but quickly felt most service didn’t warrant it. Food Quality: Buffet desserts were generally poor, and the themed restaurants were hit-or-miss. Menus sometimes felt mismatched — for example, the Greek restaurant serving “shish taouk” that tasted more like dry chicken tikka. One positive was lunch at the Garden Restaurant, which featured a charcoal BBQ with freshly cooked meats — a highlight in an otherwise uneven dining experience. Resort Layout & Amenities: The physical resort is well-designed. Pools, slides, and the beach were all easy to access, and we never struggled to find chairs — even later in the day. The kids enjoyed the water areas, and the weather helped make the trip enjoyable. Staff Support: A bright spot was the manager, Gavilin, who listened sincerely and helped secure restaurant reservations when neither the app nor concierge could. Bottom Line We still had fun because the pools and beach were great — and that was our main goal. But for the price, the service gaps, food inconsistencies, maintenance issues, and confusing systems were disappointing. I wouldn’t consider this a true 5-star experience, and we don’t plan to return to Bahia Principe properties in the future.
