Not the best experience
I usually don't leave bad reviews but here we go. I'm huge on reviews. Prior to booking I read most of them and it was 50/50 so since we stayed at Bahia Principe Jamaica with no issues (IT WAS TRULY AMAZING FROM THE TIME WE CHECKED IN UNTIL THE TIME WE LEFT). We decided to give the Fantasia a try. This is our third time visiting the Dominican Republic. Our first time staying at the Fantasia. I honestly would NEVER stay here again. We arrived at the Fantasia on Christmas Eve. We booked 2 rooms in advance, castle front view. Once we arrived and checked into our room we noticed a bloody pillow, dirty room and left over items in the drawer from the previous guest. We immediately contacted the front desk and they sent someone from house keeping to clean the room. The second day, Christmas Day we woke up went to run the water and it was scorching hot. Thank goodness no one burned themselves. There was a horrible sewage smell coming from the shower. We went to turn on the jet tub and a piece shot up and hit the ceiling water running everywhere. There was also water running from the bathroom sink on the floor. At this point I'm upset this is not how we expected to start our vacation after paying our money. We went downstairs and spoke to someone at the front desk. They decided to change our room due to the issues but we couldn't check in until 4pm. Another huge inconvenience. Thank goodness we had another room we could take a shower in until our room was ready. Now for the second room our family member waited 3-4 days for a working remote. We called several times for a working remote and clean wash cloths. Which took forever to receive. Our family member couldn't turn her tv on or off for days. Finally after 4 days she received a working remote. We had to actually bring the old remote to the front desk hoping to get a new one. Back to the first room. We checked in to our new room at 4pm on Christmas Day. The room was much cleaner except the wash cloths were very dingy. The curtains on the balcony were gross. The only huge issue was we no longer had a castle front view that we paid for. They claimed the new room was a front facing but all we saw was the top of the castle, the pool and the garden. At this point I'm so over the Fantasia. The grounds were very clean. All the food we tried was delicious. The pools were very clean. The only downside about the pool was people coming down dropping off towels on a chair and disappearing for hours which made it harder for anyone else to grab a chair. Some of the staff were very nice and friendly. Some had a chip on their shoulder. One young lady I wish I knew her name. We booked a reservation at the Indian restaurant Thali near the beach. She started as our waiter but was rude the entire time as if she doesn't like her job. We asked for appetizer. She never came back with our appetizer. Then told another waiter to help us when all we did was ask for our food. The second waiter was much nicer but by then we were disappointed and ready to go. We also booked a reservation at the Brazilian steakhouse. We arrived and were told we didn't have reservations. We waited about 20 minutes with multiple phones calls and me having to get real upset before we were eventually seated. On our last night, We requested to speak with a manager, since we were told someone from customer service would call us back on Christmas Day. We waited 4 days and no one called us. No one pretty much cared we didn't receive our room we paid for. We finally spoke with someone and all they could offer us was a $100 store credit at the gift shop or a bottle or rum. (NEITHER ONE COULD COMPARE TO A FRACTION OF WHAT WE PAID. NOR THE INCONVENIENCES OR CHALLENGES WE FACED) Which was a slap in the face after we PAID FOR TWO CASTLE FRONT ROOMS. We checked out today and was told to just email customer service, include our complaint letter and someone will get back to us which is B.S. Moral of this long review BOOK AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! WITH THE NAME (BAHIA PRINCIPE) AND OUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WE DEFINITELY EXPECTED BETTER. WE ARE STILL LOOKING FORWARD TO SOMEONE REACHING OUT TO US!!!!

Bahia Principe La Cucaracha
The hotel has beautiful grounds, good food, good service but Terrible quality of rooms I was killing cockroaches every day in our room. And question myself if there are cockroaches in the room, then what's going on in the kitchens? The shower, is broken, the ceiling is failing, and the water was going through from the bath to toilet.

Exceptional service...Mississauga Ontario & Brooklyn New York
It was an exceptional experience for my family, especially my nieces who loved the colour display of the castle at nights. The staff was friendly and respectful while offering exceptional service to everyone. My housekeeper for the week was very thorough and helpful. Thank you Bahia Fantasia Privilege Club/Lounge for a wonderful Christmas vacation with family. Karen A K

Few issues but still worth visiting
No elevator but only 3 floors so it was manageable. Towels could be cleaner, newer, rooms were clean, minibar stayed stacked with juices, water and snacks and were replenished daily. Buffet had a huge variety with 2 persons at each end doing eggs in the morning or preparing fish at nights. Desserts were plentiful too. As for the a la carte restaurants, Le Gournet has the best food! Staff was amazing. Darlin, a supervisor or manager at Garden Circus restaurant is the sweetest; he understands English well and truly cares for his guests. He truly made my family and I feel special. We would return. Overall, 8/10 for this hotel.
