  Fabulous hotel (ignore the negative reviews)

  After booking our holiday, I started to read some negative reviews that very nearly got me running back to the travel agent to change our hotel! So glad I didn't! We have just returned from this lovely hotel and had a fabulous time. All the staff are friendly, helpful and can't do enough to help. The food was great- those who say the buffet is repetitive must be very picky eaters! There was always Mexican, an oriental section, pizza and pasta section, always a whole grilled fish or large joint of meat, always grilled meat like chicken or pork, a Japanese section, a chef special, loads of salads... I could go on and on... We were there ten days and never got bored. We really enjoyed the breakfasts and had something different everyday. Tropical fruits, yogurts of every possible variety, smoked salmon, bacon, all varieties of egg, sausages, delicious pastries ...I was particularly impressed with the chef who is responsible for the bakery! The a la carte restaurants were incredible and I had no problem getting reservations before we arrived and even changed one when we were there. Yes the room smelt damp when we first arrived, but we put the air con on and within half an hour it was gone! The room was clean and tidy and our view across the palm trees to the sea was great (and we didn't book a sea view!) My only criticism, the bed is hard and even with a mattress topper, my other half was uncomfortable. The pools are super, cleaned everyday and it was never a problem to get a sunbed. The drinks were great, not watered down in our opinion. We walked along the whole beach and yes, in parts, beach shoes are useful, but by the quiet pool it is lovely and sandy. One day I walked along the beach and was paddling with a manta ray! The next day taking photos of pelicans. Yes there is wildlife around the whole site, but for us that was part of the charm of the place. We have had a fabulous holiday at this hotel and hope to return one day.

  Wonderful stay

  From our check in to check out everything was excellent. i have to give Rafael at check in and Caesar one of the bellmen a super thank you for your excellent service. Food was good , room was very comfortable and clean. had a wonderful time and will be back. Had no issues whatsoever. Our second day there we were approached by the privilege club reps and we politely declined they were very polite and gracious and did not pressure us at all. We saw them occasionally during the week and they were always nothing but friendly and even helpful if we needed directions or other information. Thank you to Angie and Sexy Chocolate.

  Perfect family escape to paradise!

  My family had a wonderful time at this huge resort. There was so much to do between the many pools, beach and shows. The food in the buffet was plentiful and tasty, lots of variety and different specials each day. Rooms were all clean and comfortable. While I'm not the biggest fan of the new open concept, it does make packing up a breeze and probably easier to clean. Restaurant reservations for our group were problematic, we were unable to prebook, consequently were unable to choose the restaurants and dates we wanted. Staff was very helpful in booking us so we were able to get in some ala carte. The grounds are beautifully manicured and there is abundant wildlife all around. The trolleys are awesome! We'll be back.

  Ok, but needs improvement in some areas.

  Hotel has good points but can improve in many others. Pros: Everyone is very nice and food is good especially in specialty restaurants. Buffet is not bad, staff is attentive, but it can be a mad house. Food becomes repetitive after a few nights. Cons: Rooms are outdated and have a musty smell which we can still smell on our clothes even after getting home. We were supposed to be in a renovated room, but it did not look renovated at all. Needs a refresh. Only 2 reservations permitted for 5 night stay. Would be nice to have more access to specialty restaurants. Those were our favorite as the vibe was so relaxed, service excellent and food very good. Would probably not go back to this resort.

  Limited restaurant options...

  The resort was nice and kept up well, the staff were always friendly and helpful. We were disappointed that we could not make any reservations at the ala carte restaurants because they were all booked, even though we tried making reservations as soon as we arrived. When the resort advertises multiple restaurants but offers a very limited number of tables per night at those restaurants, it is frustrating. For this reason, I would consider a different resort on my next trip - eating a buffet, with the same basic options twice a day, was a bit much.
