    Great, but not quite a 5 ⭐

We stayed in the Junior Suite Superior and found the room charming but very outdated. There were no convenient places to charge devices, the TV had no working channels, and the Wi-Fi barely worked in the room. Only one key card worked, and the room door needed real force to open. The room is comfortable enough but doesn’t match 5-star expectations — more like 3-star. In contrast, the Junior Suite Premium rooms looked significantly more modern and closer to 4-star quality. The pool areas were a highlight of the entire stay. The main pool near the beach had a fun, high-energy vibe, was impeccably clean, and looked freshly updated. The local pool near our building was quieter, warm, very clean, and had tons of shaded seating. The swim-up bar service was excellent — fast, friendly, and happy to fill large tumblers. Food was fine but not impressive. There was variety, but the quality felt average. Breakfast service was inconsistent; we were seated multiple times before we actually received attention. The truck restaurant had potential, but the ordering system was chaotic. Numbers weren’t picked up, some were skipped, and the flow fell apart. Still, the self-serve beer and wine was a definite plus. The standout meal was at Rodizio Las Olas, the Brazilian steakhouse. Excellent cuts of meat, attentive service, and a beautiful beachfront location. We didn’t spend time on the beach but it looked clean and well kept. The Circus Show was surprisingly great and worth making time for. The spa was very clean, and our couples massage was relaxing and a good value. The resort provides golf carts for transport, though we never figured out the schedule. Walking was easy and enjoyable, but some guests may want clearer transportation info. Check-out was smooth, and even without a late checkout, the staff let us continue using the facilities — including offering a shower before heading to the airport. Principe Village has several convenient shops. Most carry the same items, but occasionally you’ll find a different size or version by checking another shop. Overall, we had a good trip. The pools, entertainment, and dining experiences made it enjoyable, and most guests looked like they were having a great time. Our expectations were just set too high for what is advertised as a 5-star resort, particularly when it comes to the Junior Suite Superior rooms.

It used to be a good resort

This is our third time in Bahia Principe. First time was in The aquamarine, second in the Bavaro (now punta cana) and this time in Turquesa). We were very disappointed with the food quality in the Las Dallias buffet. The breakfast was always the same, no nutella, the peanut butter with very bas quality and quantity (was always empty). The good point of las Dallias was the fishes that were always available. Also the lunch buffet was terrible, always something was finished and it took more than 15min to replace it (so we finished the lunch before get it). Bahia Turquesa is a children (family) hotel, so specially for breakfast should have more kids food. Another very bad change was the LasOlas restaurant opening time. To be sincere it was the decisive point to make us look for another hotel next time in Punta Cana. There is no place to have a brunch after 10am, there is no available fruits from 10am to 12:30pm and from 4pm to 7pm. This ours we have to eat junk food at the truck or los corales pool restaurant. LasOlas should be open from 10am to 6pm or put healthy options in the TheTruck Menu.

Ia not a 5 stars hotel

Turquesa is located near a lovely beach; however, the hotel is described as 5 stars, which to me is not even 3. First of all, the room is big with plenty of space, but it was very, very dirty. The towels were ripped, I had to clean the hairdryer because it was full of sticky residue and dust, and the bedding was torn. The fridge was broken (they did replace it), but it’s clear they never properly check the rooms to ensure everything is working. Buffet: In Europe, “all-inclusive” usually means a large buffet full of variety, but here it’s quite small (remember — 5 stars!). The food was undercooked, with very limited fruit and vegetable options. Most of the staff were quite rude — until they realized you speak Spanish, and then their attitude suddenly changed. I’m not comparing the Dominican Republic with Mexico, but I am comparing it to the cheapest all-inclusive holiday I’ve ever had in Majorca — a 3-star hotel that was very clean, had lovely, friendly staff, and offered a wide range of food. Most of the tourists here are from South America, with very few from North America or Europe. Be aware of the shops near the hotel: The items sold there are mostly from Temu or Shein, but they’re priced at ten times their actual value. They clearly try to take advantage of tourists, knowing most people won’t leave the resort. If you’re a smoker, buy your cigarettes as soon as you land at duty-free — you can get 200 for about $45. Inside the resort, they sell just 60 for $33. It’s a complete rip-off and honestly a joke. Would I come back? Definitely not. For the money we paid, I’m sure we could have found much better service and quality elsewhere.

    Do NOT go

I am writing to express my profound disappointment regarding my recent stay at the Bahia Principe resort from October 21 to 28. Unfortunately, the experience I encountered fell significantly below the standards I have come to expect from your renowned brand. Upon our arrival with a group of 14 at approximately 3:30 PM, we were greeted with an unexpected lack of hospitality, as there was no welcome drink provided, which I believe is a customary gesture in travel, especially at a resort of your caliber. Additionally, several of our rooms were not ready upon check-in, which I found highly inconvenient. Regrettably, the quality of service did not improve throughout our stay, leading to increasing frustration. Our group, comprising four single women, was placed in building #55, which felt particularly unsafe due to the inadequate lighting and a noticeable absence of visible security personnel. This matter of safety caused unease amongst us, especially at night. Moreover, I observed a concerning disparity in guest treatment; some guests were offered complimentary massages while others, including our group, received minimal acknowledgment. Additionally, the entertainment activities were primarily conducted in Spanish, which left the English-speaking members of our group feeling sidelined and disappointed, particularly considering the expected diversity in the guest demographic at your resort. Dining during our stay posed its own set of challenges. We experienced lackluster service at meal times, and I found myself frequently having to follow up on housekeeping requests, including a request for an urgent bathroom issue that resulted in me slipping and injuring my ankle. Despite this being brought to the staff's attention, no maintenance assistance was provided, which was quite alarming. Another unsettling factor was the absence of an Air Canada representative on-site, especially in light of potential emergencies, which left us feeling unsupported. Additionally, reserving a la carte restaurants proved nearly impossible, severely hampering our overall experience. The only redeeming aspect was the quality of the buffet food, which I truly enjoyed. As our stay progressed, the situation worsened when the resort became quite crowded with local guests on Friday. It increasingly felt as though their requests were prioritized over ours, which further compounded our frustrations when we addressed the issue of the overwhelming Spanish music with no response from staff. Attempts to communicate through WhatsApp also yielded little to no engagement from your team. Furthermore, I found the pool and buffet areas to be chaotic rather than relaxing—this was particularly disappointing as we had previously enjoyed outstanding stays at other Bahia locations. Regrettably, I must also mention the poor condition of the accommodations. I encountered old, uncomfortable beds and evident issues such as leaks and black mold in the bathroom. When I attempted to maintain our privacy with a 'do not disturb' sign, I received a perplexing letter from the front desk requesting that we visit them to discuss room cleaning—this communication left us further confused. Throughout our stay, I reached out via email, expressing my concerns, but regrettably, I did not receive any acknowledgment of my messages.
