It was good for the most part.

There were many positive aspects to my visit. The food was very good overall, with a wide variety of options, and the sports bar had excellent wings. The drinks were amazing, and I appreciated how easy it was to request stronger pours. Additionally, there was plenty of entertainment, easy access to other resorts, and ample seating available at both the pool and the beach. I found the pricing to be fair for the services received. However, there were several issues that detracted from the experience: - Pest Control: While the rooms appeared very clean, I encountered two cockroaches in my room at different times. - Amenities: The room refrigerator barely worked. When I contacted guest services, I was told this was normal. - Dining Reservations: Securing restaurant reservations was extremely difficult. Upon check-in, no slots were available, requiring me to check the app constantly. Despite the lack of availability, the restaurants were nearly empty when we arrived. At one location, the host claimed I did not have a reservation; even after showing proof on the app and pointing out the empty tables, I had to argue to be seated. - Activities & Shopping: A fire show was advertised, but staff members were unaware of its location or existence. Additionally, the shops in the village shopping center all carry identical merchandise, which was disappointing.

Great holiday but would not return

We have just come back from a fabulous two weeks at Ambar. I personally would not say it’s a 5* hotel as it could do with a bit of a face lift - our room had a faulty fridge - only warm and not cold - we did complain but it still remained warm, broken hairdryer and socket - we did complain and it was replaced the same day, the shower rarely had pressure so for myself and my daughter to wash hair was a mission! - we did complain and eventually in week two we were offered a new room - we declined the offer as we only had about 4 nights left and loved the location of our room and generally little decor bits could do with a tidy up. We had payed for adults only and weren’t aware that the hotel is part of about 6 other hotels on the same complex and quite often had kids and adults walking through and trying to use the facilities - not great as we deliberately wanted adults only. In general we loved our trip but there were a few things that became annoying and frustrating at times - We are well travelled so we are used to different counties and cultures but when the entertainment team would not take no for an answer and would constantly be “Telling” us to join in and move seats for the entertainment it became frustrating and very annoying. One one occasion one member of the team - luis Angels (? We think that’s his name) was VERY forceful with our 22 year old daughter, getting her to write a positive review on him - she declined several times and he would not stop, eventually she did and he took her phone to check it was positive - not acceptable and VERY disrespectful- she later removed the review as it was false. On another occasion we were sat having a drink in the evening and chatting and he came over and refused to leave, staring at myself and my husband and TELLING us to move seats to get closer to the entertainment - no thank you! The spa - wow! You are asked if you want spa treatments at least times a day - after the first few days you would think they understood NO Feedback - we were asked to give feedback one morning at breakfast which we happily did - this was where we explained about the fridge, hair dryer and the shower - but overall it was positive. We were then asked again at lunch and most breakfasts after that - no thank you The food was ok - repetitive but we always found something. The beach was amazing apart from some days when the seaweed was bad which is out of everyone’s control, the hotel did have workers trying to clear it. There were a few occasions where the pool bar ran out of beer, lemonade etc which was frustrating. If you want a more chilled out vibe and a change of food the sports bar is great - we often ate and had drinks there in the evening. Loads of lovely cats hanging around the place - they aren’t used to people so can hiss a bit! Bookable à la carte restaurants - for the ones we could get into during our two weeks - Greek and limbo - the Japanese wasn’t open! , both restaurants were not great at all - food was bland etc We did do a day trip to Saona - amazing day and very well organised! Overall we had a great time apart from the pressurising staff and small issues with the room but unfortunately would not come back and stay at this hotel again. Hope you find this review useful

    Great time !

This hotel is very nice , however o have a few things I saw and wasn’t to found of. The bathroom needs a bit of an upgrade . The inside shower looks old and needs to be painted and the hardware needs to be upgraded . We were suppose to get a Happy Anniversary banner along with some sweets which we never got and a lady ( cant remember her name) even took our room number down never showed so that was disappointing . The floors outside of the lobby area needs to be changed it rained really hard one night and the ground was so slippery I felt like I was skating on ice . The same concrete block used at the sports bar should be used outside the lobby. Also the transportation from one hotel to another is very slow . Felt like I was at an actual bus stop . Limbo restaurant the young lady was nice enough to take us but when we got there that place was so hot no AC? A hotel as big as that should have just like the main dining area . Speaking of dining area we gravitated to our waiter Miguel he was excellent , so everytime we saw him we went straight to him , however they was another waiter whose name I will not mention and because we didn’t go to him he did a hand gesture like yea whatever and that I am not a fan of . I spend my money there and I did not come for that type of behavior . Overall we had a great experience.

    Great Holiday

Our rooms were spotless and cleaned every day, the mini bar was stocked daily and anything we need was no trouble with the staff. Food was great and there was plenty of choice We went for three weeks and it was great value for our money, we met a number of people who return on a regular basis and we are already planning to return next year

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Bahia Principe Escape Ambar / Hyatt

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Bahia Principe Escape Ambar / Hyatt We are currently staying at Bahia Principe Escape Ambar in Punta Cana, and unfortunately, our experience so far has been extremely disappointing. Before arriving, we made it absolutely clear that both of us are strict vegetarians. We do not eat meat, fish or eggs. We specifically communicated our dietary requirements in advance and expected a resort of this standard, particularly one associated with the Hyatt name, to take this seriously. Sadly, that has not been our experience. Extremely poor choice for vegetarians The choice of genuinely vegetarian food is very poor. For an all-inclusive resort of this size and standard, this is simply unacceptable. Being vegetarian should not mean having to survive on a few vegetables, salad or basic carbohydrates while watching other guests have a huge variety of food available. What is even more concerning is the apparent lack of understanding of what proper vegetarian food actually means. Cross-contamination is a serious concern The biggest issue for us is cross-contamination. We have seen pasta being cooked in pans that are also used for meat. This completely defeats the purpose of offering a vegetarian option. If a guest specifically says they do not eat meat, fish or eggs, the food cannot simply be called “vegetarian” because there is no visible piece of meat on the plate. There needs to be proper separation of utensils, pans, cooking surfaces and preparation areas. We should not have to stand over the kitchen staff and repeatedly explain something as basic as vegetarian food must not be cooked using equipment that has been used for meat. Hyatt should be concerned about this What is particularly disappointing is that we expected considerably better from a resort carrying the Hyatt name. At present, it feels as though our dietary requirements simply do not matter. This is not about demanding special treatment. It is about expecting a hotel to provide safe, clearly identifiable and properly prepared food after the guest has made their dietary requirements known in advance. There are millions of vegetarians around the world, and a major international hotel group should understand this. We are still here until 31 August 2026 We are currently still staying at the resort and will remain here until 31 August 2026, so this review is not based on one bad meal or one isolated incident. We will continue to see how the resort handles our dietary requirements during the remainder of our stay and will update our review accordingly. At this stage, however, our experience has been extremely poor. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar is, in our experience so far, not vegetarian-friendly at all. And if Hyatt genuinely cares about its brand standards, it needs to look very seriously at what is happening here. For us, this is not simply about food preference. It is about respecting a clearly communicated dietary requirement and providing what was promised. Very disappointing. Very poor vegetarian provision. Serious concerns about cross-contamination. And, most disappointing of all, a feeling that nobody appears to genuinely care.
