Oct 29, 2026Barcelo aruba a great place to stay.
Stayed here about 10 times. The hotel is a bit older compared to other hotels, but they have upgraded rooms. This is a all inclusive hotel but people book this place still go out to eat off the property. The hotel is conveniently located on the strip to other bars and restaurants. The staff is extremely friendly but I think you will experience that at most hotels. We always book using the Royal level which gives you top shelf liquor, the bar on the beach and the Royal restaurant upstairs which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Never had a bad experience at the Barcelo. We try to go here once a year. Not many things for young kids to do. There is a place on the beach to the right where you can book water excursions.

Oct 27, 2026Do better Barcelo…upgrade your property
Let’s be honest this is by no means a 4 or 5 star experience. The staff are amazing but the property needs major updating. Where shall I begin? Check in was slow as room was not ready at check in time, we had to wait an hour. Problem #1. We had a deluxe king room with ocean view ( it’s more like an ocean peak). Honestly a room with a pool view is a better choice. When we entered our room it was not ready for guests. The bed had no sheets, there were maintenance tools on the dresser and the room was wet as it was recently mopped. Needless to say back to the lobby we went for a new room which was better but still had problems with broken shower and shampoo dispensers falling off the walls, lamp that didn’t work and a/c that worked a little too well! TV reception isn’t very good but WiFi worked well. Food and drinks were just ok. We didn’t go to every restaurant but we did enjoy the Italian and Mexican both food and staff. Breakfast daily at the palm buffet was great but it’s tough to mess up breakfast. Mimosas helped too. Here’s what I learned.. bring your own shower gel, shampoo and lotion. Don’t expect luxury accommodations and enjoy the positives like the location, all the shops and restaurants in walking distance. Enjoy the pool, the ocean (get up at 6 am if you want a chair on the beach) and daily games and water aerobics with Mr Valderama! Music by the pool was very let’s say “American” needs more diversity. Overall we made the best of it but for the money we spent we’d probably stay elsewhere next time. We came because we were invited by friends so it was more about a group of 8 enjoying Aruba than inconveniences. Aruba is truly “ one happy island”.

Amazing Staff
This hotel is in a fabulous location and we have stayed here many many times. The best reason for booking Barcelo is the amazing and caring staff. The First Club is staffed with hard working professional staff, most notably Belinda. Belinda is always there to assist and fulfill your every need. Fabulous working with her. The food is good, especially for breakfast and lunch. We basically eat dinners out a lot since there are so many excellent restaurants in Aruba. There are a few things that could use improvement at the hotel (i.e., pool needs updating, need chairs not just lounges on the beach, alcohol upgrade at the pool, etc.). We will continue to book this hotel based on the staff that has become like family.

Birthday Get a way
We had a total of 16 people go to Barcelo Aruba and we all had a great time. Making dinner reservations was a bit tricky was an issue. The wait staff were great.
