The process of check in is slow, and they try to give you one of the worst rooms first. Speak up.
AC not working and they made us spend time at the room to check if it was resolved. It didin't work and we end up with a room with 2 full size beds for a 6ft 3" man. The receptionist very rude. Other than that is an average place to stay.

Hotel and resort review
My husband and I chose this hotel thinking that it would be the same service as Barcelo karmina in Manzanillo because we thought that they belonged under the same company name then we expected. Thank you.

First time
My stay at Barcelo was great. The show was amazing. Every day at 9:30pm. Carolina and Daniel are great. She explain pretty much everything in detail. Super friendly and knowledgeable. I really suggest you walking at the beach at night. You might spot a turtle ❤️🐢 laying her eggs. The rooms are clean and the people at work are super attentive and friendly.

Fun stay at Barcelo Ixtapa
Barcelo staff was great with their activities especially Feria Mexicana. My kid had a great time playing the games. We recommend the resort to families wishing to relax for a few days. The weather is great and the family enjoyed the stay here in Ixtapa.

They didn't seem to get it right...
By either taking the towels and not returning them until the next morning (upon request... twice!) or not providing coffee and beverage refills in the mini bar... they just didn't seem to get it right. The hotel is old and hasn't been renewed in a while. I wouldn't expect to pay more for a decent service so "Premium level" is definitely not an option. All-inclusive is not cheap so I wouldn't expect to need to upgrade. The food was ok. Ixtapa is a very small place with very little entertainment so, be wise on your accommodation decisions. A lousy stay can definitely ruin your vacation.
