    Weekend stay

Overall the short weekend trip was good. The room itself was a nice room with the necessary amenities. The beds were average but the pillows were nice. Every staff we encountered were respectful and nice. The entire hotel including the bathrooms by the pool were kept very clean.

    Worth it for the price

This was my third time staying at barcelo. This time it was only my husband and I for our honeymoon. Overall the trip was great, and our stay was great. Only thing I was disappointed about was they only had the Italian restaurant open the entire week we stayed (we stayed during a slower season in September) I was looking forward to their other restaurants but we ate at the snack bars and buffet which were decent. Overall I recommend this hotel whether it’s for a couple or family.

    Average Average Average

We arrived after 7 PM and had paid for Premier Services. We were greeted with "your room is not ready", not even a welcome drink, just an "I can put you somewhere else but no balcony". HUH????? Not exactly the way to start a vacation. We got our room, not sure what the difference actually was because we were put in the premier level with a balcony. So not sure why we were made to sit and wait. So that kinda set the tone. It's an older property that needs upgrading. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't "premier" either. Oh, and fair warning, the room got HOT, uncomfortable and difficult to sleep. We survived and made the best of our time at Barcelo. Definitely will return to beautiful Zihua and Ixtapa but will not return to Barcelo.
