Exceptional Service and Stunning Views at Bel Jou!

I just finished a wonderful 3-night stay at Bel Jou, and it was the perfect St. Lucian getaway. The views of the Castries harbor from the property are absolutely stunning—I spent so much time just taking it all in. What really sets this hotel apart is the incredible team! A huge thank you to (apologies if misspelled): Princess in the restaurant for her wonderful service. Tinikah at the snack bar for being so attentive. Mikey, who was so helpful with my luggage. Tariq and the Rooftop bartender for being friendly and the lovely ladies at the front desk for making check-in and my entire stay so smooth. The food was another highlight; everything was delicious, and I really appreciated the wide variety of dishes available. It kept every meal interesting! Also, the free shuttle to the beach was a fantastic, stress-free perk that made it so easy to enjoy the ocean. to My room was just perfect, comfortable and kept clean and accommodating by Kevel. I enjoyed the little touches like the welcome letter in my room and being able to get an early check-in. I highly recommend Bel Jou for their hospitality and those unbeatable views, wonderful value for your money. I can’t wait to return!

Great Location and Value for money

We stayed for a week. The hotel was well located with a view of the whole of Castries. The rooms were clean and everything was in working order, from the A/C to the iron and kettle. It was very good value for money. The noise level was manageable and there was warning if there was going to be any noise. The daily shuttle to town was handy. The manager Dean was excellent, visible friendly and helpful. Nothing seems too much for him. Sherlorne and the staff at the front desk were very helpful. I would recommend Bel Jou to travellers planning to stay at Castries in St Lucia.

A nice taste of the Caribbean.

Yes it is up a hill and not really a place you can go for a walk around (lots of steps in the complex and no lifts), although there was a couple in their 70s who regularly stay and walk to the beach, wow in many ways. We used the free shuttle bus for the beach and Castries town, both worth a visit at least once. The vast majority of the staff are excellent and the rest are good, nothing bad with the service we found. Don't be afraid to ask for anything, as they said to me "you pay a lot of money to stay here so we want you to enjoy". Garden view room we had was spacious and very nice. Issues we had with sink were dealt with quickly. Yes, some exterior parts of the buildings look like they need a refresh, but the ground staff work very hard on all the aspects they can. Various food nights were very good to excellent, standouts for us were Asian and the must do every Thursday Caribbean night. Check the boards for what's on. Found the Hummingbird restaurant okay for the food, not extra special. Found the humming birds flying around spectacular. A fair amount of entertainment put on if you want to join in, yoga, pilates, walks, pool aerobics, cocktail making, beer pong etc. Bring some cash (USD) not only to tip the staff who are outstanding but for your trips outside.

    Lovely place for a holiday.

We spent Christmas at the Bel Joy and had a great time. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with everything we needed. staff polite and very helpful. Joule was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. The lower pool area was quiet and not overcrowded with a help yourself bar. The upper pool was a little busier but still quiet. Christmas Day food was exceptional with a lovely roast for dinner. On the whole food was very good. A 10 mins walk down to Castries or a shuttle down and back. Beach was a short shuttle down and back. The hotel is in a very steep hill giving it spectacular views of the sea but shuttle is very welcome. Defiantly a place we would return to.

    Small Gem.

This hotel is small but had everything we needed. While all the staff were good, some truly went above and beyond with their friendliness and service. Special shout-out to Kayah, Princess, Brendan, Mikey, Quincy, Jeanham (hope I spelled that right), and the main cook/chef whose name I unfortunately can’t remember. Dean, the manager, was also very hands-on—I saw him multiple times helping out, including at the front desk when it was busy. There were always sunbeds available, as the hotel clearly enforces the no-saving policy. I only saw one situation where guests attempted to save chairs for hours, and another guest politely moved the towels—refreshing to see this rule actually followed. The grounds were immaculate, with constant cleaning, trimming, and maintenance. Drinks were delicious; if you didn’t see something you liked on the menu, the bartenders were happy to make something for you. The house wine, Heineken, and Piton beers were perfect. One downside was that espresso martinis came with an extra charge, which was disappointing at an all-inclusive resort. The buffet lunch and dinner were fine, but the Hummingbird Restaurant was our favorite by far—the food there was fabulous. The Thursday night BBQ and fire show was a highlight with great food and entertainment. The coffee shop was okay—mostly drip coffee with snacks and fruit—but it was charming with hummingbirds buzzing around the feeders. We loved the rooftop area; it was quiet (likely due to the stairs), had amazing views, and was a great place to hang out. The dartboard and darts could use an upgrade, and unfortunately it was closed our last night for a private function, which was disappointing as we wanted one final visit. The spa had potential. We won two half-hour back massages and tipped $20 USD each time; however, both treatments were shortened to about 20 minutes, including when I went alone for the second massage. While the massage itself was good, being shorted on time made us hesitant to return. The beach was close and easy to access with the shuttle. Bring your own reusable water bottles—the hotel has filtered water refill stations, which was great to see and helped reduce plastic waste around the property. Our room was on the top floor, which we didn’t mind at all—the views were amazing, and the stairs helped work off the food and drinks. We experienced slow drains and occasional low water pressure, but since we weren’t in the room much, it didn’t bother us. Evening entertainment was enjoyable, with casino night and BBQ night being our favorites. We didn’t see some of the posted daily activities (cornhole, yoga, ping pong/beer pong, scavenger hunt), possibly due to low participation. Water aerobics did happen one day, but it was at the upper pool after we had already settled in at the lower one. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for the incredible staff and beautiful views. It’s on the quieter side, but by midnight we were ready for bed anyway—perfect for a relaxing stay.
