A solid property which won’t wow, but probably won’t disappoint you either
This was our first time at Blue Bay, but we have been to the Puerto Plata area numerous times, as well as other locations in the DR. We don’t have anything really terrible to say about this facility and its people, and also nothing really spectacular. Given the price point our experience was better than average with no real surprises. A quick recap. Travel: Our flights through Sunwing left and arrived on time. Our luggage came out quickly and transport to the resort, just 25 minutes away was routine. Check in at the Front Desk was efficient. We landed at Puerto Plata at 830 PM and were in our rooms by 10! ROOMS: We had a superior room with a king bed, which we requested ahead of time. Because of the compact nature of the resort, you’re never really facing a long walk anywhere, The room was clean, if somewhat spartan. The doors locked, and there was enough room for our stuff. No issues with water pressure or temperature, FOOD: Buffets are what they are. There was a reasonable selection of food, with a few things changed up on a nightly basis. None of us had any gastrointestinal issues, so that’s good, A LA CARTES: There are three. An Italian., a seafood and Chinese. They were all pretty good. We were pleased with the menu selections and their presentation, Probably not as good as you will get from home, but better than usual for a resort. BARS AND DRINKS: We never had much of a wait. Staff was friendly and helpful. Both of us have portions of evenings we don’t remember….thats a good sign isn’t it? ENTERTAINMENT: Not really my thing, but their team works very hard and endeavour to keep people involved. Themes range from Dominican to Rock and Roll to Karaoke. OVERALL: It’s a solid place. It could use a little TLC because it’s getting a bit old, but generally in good shape. TIP>. We have never been anywhere with as much of a frenzy surrounding pool chairs, People were reserving them sometimes just after midnight. Clearly there are not enough chairs , and even though there are signs posted asking you not to reserve….we all know what happens right? So be forewarned.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas
My significant other and I visited Bluebay Villas Doradas for our first time ever and for our first ever trip together and overall was a good experience. The staff was very helpful and quite friendly for the most part. At first, guest services lady came off a little “rude” at first but when we went to visit another day she was friendlier. The staff at the resort was always ensuring that when we had come across them if everything was okay and if we needed any help with anything which was nice gesture of them. We had went to the buffet on the resort for majority of our meals like breakfast and lunch and the occasional dinner and was alright for the most part. The only thing is for breakfast buffet they could have had little more options to choose from and there was few days where they didn’t have maple syrup for selection but then they did near the end of our visit. We had tried the a la carte restaurants and by far the Chinese restaurant was the best - 10/10 if not better than back home here in Canada. The gentleman and Manager were all super friendly and great absolutely no complaints there. We had the spring rolls and sweet & sour pork and these were above par - highly recommend. We were able to visit this restaurant 3 out of the 7 days we were there. Another thing we didn’t really like is the fact that we were only allowed to book the a la carte restaurants for a total of 3 times we weren’t allowed to book more than that only if there were cancellations so that was something we didn’t really like but thankfully we were able to score a cancellation and enjoy the Chinese restaurant yet again which was nice. We also tried the Italian restaurant - we got the chicken parmesan and the carbonara pasta and both were delicious again highly recommend. We were told that we got to build our own starter salads that they had and even the salads were delicious but again, Chinese restaurant wins. We were told by couple of visitors that had been here at this resort more than once to stay away from Seafood a la carte restaurant which we did so can’t say much about that. The overall resort was very well kept and was a little outdated but that did not stop us from having an enjoyable time. The Black & White bar at the main lobby was by far the best tasting and best service aside from all other bars we tried. The other negative we had experienced was not having new shower towels replaced when they came to clean your room we had to wait 20 plus minutes to get new clean towels. I feel like they should wait until all towels and linens are clean and ready then clean rooms completely and that way you don’t have to wait for new/clean towels. Other than that, our visit to Bluebay Villas Doradas was very good and relaxing.

Alfredo made our visit!
Blue Bay has been our getaway for three years now. As we have been spoiled by the employees of this hotel. Alfredo when he’s doing entertainment is nothing short of AMAZING! He interacts with the guests always with a smile and his infectious personality! Afredo has brought so much energy to the entertainment and his humour always makes us laugh! We’ve had no doubt that Alfredo is great and always a pleasure to be around. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to the guests of this hotel!

Would come back
Had an amazing time bartenders and entertainment staff are amazing. The food was good. Need more chairs and umbrellas around the pools and the resort is showing its age but still a very nice place to come to. Can't wait too plan my next trip here!
