Awful
A consistently terrible experience and we’re Diamond members. Check-in line was at least 30-40 minutes. Air conditioning was down in the rooms and the rooms were old and falling apart. We ended up with a connected room and could hear everything that our neighbors were doing and watching. We called for foam pillows and 20 minutes later someone showed up with fans, we told them we asked for pillows and were told she’d come back with some. We waited another 15 minutes and called again. 20 minutes later someone showed up with our pillows + a pillowcase full of full-sized toiletries. 20 minutes later there was another knock at our door with additional pillows we didn’t ask for. The ice machine in the hallway leaked, soaking the carpet. The concierge team was unfriendly and not overly helpful with their suggestions. The icing on the cake was that we ordered a taxi for 4:30am pick-up, to take us to the airport, the night before our departure. We called the bell desk, as requested, at 4:10am and was told our taxi was already there. We were downstairs by 4:17am and while checking out, the bell hop allowed someone to take our taxi. He said he didn’t like that driver, so didn’t want to get involved. He promised that another driver would arrive within 5 minutes, which not only did not happen, but he then disappeared completely, leaving us to fend for ourselves. Fortunately, there was another couple there who said we could ride with them.

Not worth it even after the comps
As a diamond member I’ve stayed at a lot of Hilton properties ranging from luxury Hiltons and Conrads to Hilton’s budget properties. While this hotel had a nice setting including a beach with a breakwater and several nice pools, management issues and their physical plant make this a property to avoid. Not to bury the lede, we checked in on a Thursday evening, noticed our room was a bit noisy and the room a bit warm and told the desk, which shortly after claimed it was fixed. True, it was quieter, but as we learned, the a/c was out in most of if not the entire hotel, and it stayed that way until we checked out on Sunday. Our room was typically 79-82 depending solely on the outside temperature. Yes we got comped for part of the stay, but as my wife and I discussed in the middle of the night when we couldn’t sleep because of the heat, we wanted to be comfortable not refunded for being uncomfortable. Another issue was the breakfast spot. Although a pretty large spread , food was just okay. And, if you waited past 9:00 to go down, the line to get in got longer and longer. Surely there could be a solution that didn’t require people to wait endlessly to get their included breakfast. Also, the line to the front desk was a half hour plus all day with a mix of check ins (first learning about the a/c issues) and people on line to complain about the a/c and other problems. Also the plaster/paint above our shower was badly peeling. Must have been that way for quite a while, evidently no one with the hotel noticed, or cared. The halls in the hotel also smelled musty/mildewy. And while it didn’t happen to us, friends who came with us suddenly discovered late on night that their water had stopped working. Bottom line, this is a hotel that may have been iconic 50 years ago, and still with some potential, but badly in need of being closed for a while and thoroughly renovated/ reimagined. Until then, stay away.

A hotel in the tropics with no air conditioning
It’s 2:30am. I’m wide awake in a hotel room with no air conditioning. The entire hotel is without AC. It’s a sweltering 85 degrees in my room. I’d leave now but there are no hotels available in Puerto Rico as it’s carnival weekend. The staff said to leave the patio door opened and provided a fan.

No Air Conditioning
Arrived on a Friday and had no warning that the entire hotel did not have the AC working. Room is 77-79 degrees. They said we’ll be “compensated”. Have no idea what type of compensation. We got a fan today. Truly terrible to pay good money and be uncomfortable with no AC.

Extremely Disappointed- Should’ve checked out and gone to a different hotel
Stayed in the wave wing. Pros -Location I guess? ( trying to find something positive) -Front desk trying to make things better -Gym ( but make sure you go left to enter, the signs are misleading and all of the newbies go to the right side of the building) -Room and bathroom size was good. Cons -Original room they gave us was dirty. Shower floor was not cleaned and the courtesy robe had stains. -Air conditioning in our room was 76-77 degrees and they said that there is an AC issue in all 3 wings. -Next door guest was smoking weed and constantly coughing throughout the night. Called security and told front desk but did not make a difference. Kept me up all night and so I chose to make use of my time and write this review at 4:30 am. -They said they’re fully booked and offered to move us to the beach wing but the room temp there was 78 degrees! -I couldn’t bear being next to the weed smoker anymore so my only other choice was to wait until after people check out next day to move to a room on the same floor. Crossing fingers that the new room is not hotter than the one we’re in now. -Ice and water machine on our floor was broken Breakfast is from 7 am - 11 am and it can get crowded, so be aware. The buffet is labeled ‘continental’ or ‘upgrade’ so make sure you check or it will cost you more. I should’ve changed hotels on the first day when they gave me that dirty room and the ac was warm. Honestly disappointed in this hotel considering all the ‘positive’ reviews and the Hilton brand.
