Too big too busy - very impersonal.
First impressions would have been 1 out of 5 but we did warm to the place as our stay continued. JOYS : position and location in PR. large bedroom and decent bathroom with large walk-in shower. Good bed , aircon , room safe. Decent lifts . Mini fridge. Giant tv. Tea/coffee maker WOES : 5th floor in wave tower means view of bins , car park and numerous noisy delivery Lorries peeping when reversing. (Need to be on floor 11 or above for a view). The balcony was not really useable . Dusty , peeling paint etc. lots of areas were grubby and need more maintenance. Connecting door has no sound insulation so coughing and conversation from next door sounded like they were in there with you. Breakfast was included - but it felt like we were being done a favour and had to sign and pay obligatory substantial service charge. (I know it’s customary in PR. but I still prefer to give tips when they are merited - and rarely 20%+ of a pretty hefty menu price). Plenty of choice for breakfast but hectic and having to queue at times …ick ! Outside areas , pool , beach etc are good and ideal for families and sun worshippers and good towels readily available - but crowded and swamped by sun bed-hoggers. The HUGE resort charge is supposed to support these facilities which is fine but we hardly got to use them much. This charge was higher than we were told about and did not include tax - even higher still. Some staff were pleasant - others - not really ! Not the place - best suited to us on our holiday but did have its plus points and is obviously massively successful for Hilton.

Honeymoon at Caribe 10/10
We messed up our honeymoon to St.Martin by forgetting our passports. Last minute at the airport our airline was able to change our vacation package to Caribe Hotel in PR !! Our experience was absolutely wonderful! The staff were very welcoming & friendly. We felt accommodated & taken care of. The hotel was clean my only critique is the way the bathroom is set up. The shower curtains didn’t protect the floor & it felt impossible not to create a puddle after showering. It got a little messy with the towels bc of that, but our beautiful ocean view was enough to make up for it !! The hotel staff even surprised us on our 2nd w/ a bottle of champagne, a charcuterie board, & a special card congratulating us on our Honeymoon 💕 There’s a lot to do at Caribe, they have schedules each day for beach yoga, Pilates, & times when vendors visiting, late night live music, etc. They have delicious restaurants inside the resort so you don’t have to leave, they also have a Starbucks w/ some special PR exclusive menu items. The pool area & the spa were my favorite. The pool bar was fun & the drinks were delicious. The private beach area was alright. The sand isn’t soft probably bc it’s a small overused area. It wasn’t a big deal the landscape was still beautiful. I highly recommend staying here! My husband and I felt so safe!

Nice Hotel / Resort
This was our third time staying at the Caribe Hilton. It’s in a good location relative to Old San Juan, it has a great pool and beach area and the open air lobby is very inviting and festive. There are several restaurants onsite that serve very nice Puerto Rican type food dishes and a Morton’s Steakhouse for more upscale dining.

Disappointed with room and pool
I read some negative reviews, but often feel people can be extra picky. I selected this hotel because of the amenities and it being close to Old San Juan. We stayed the first part of our trip at the Wyndham Rio Grande. I can honestly say I wish we had stayed there longer. Paying nearly $600 per night was way too much for the room we were assigned. The Caribe Hilton is not well maintained. The pool walls have mildew on them and broken tiles around the pool. Furniture around the property is soiled and cushions don’t have shape. Many of the lounge chairs are also in bad shape. Trash around the property isn’t picked up, straws in the pool, etc. Room- We were also disappointed in our room. The room itself wasn’t bad, but our particular room had a view of ductwork and a roof. It was on the 2nd floor, so you really couldn’t see anything else. It also didn’t have a balcony. We didn’t request it, but were assigned an ADA Accessible room. The shower is poorly designed with the shower head on the long wall, so it’s impossible to shower without making a complete wet mess of the entire bathroom. The water also didn’t get hot. You also have to wear plastic wristbands, which seem outdated. Many reports now have elastic or something you can remove when you want.

Not for mixed families.
Visited here a couple years ago and I was actually blocked from writing a review on the Hilton website as a Diamond member or speaking to Corporate. Honestly, I think the hotel has a colorism problem. They don't like mixed families and assume you have no money. I was embarrassed to be a member, and have invested into Hilton Grand Vacation as a owner after visiting this property. The waiting staff was not welcoming and even the restaurant door man refused to open the door for my significant other and I but did for an older Caucasian couple. I expected better and got worse, where our next door neighbor was extremely loud after 11pm and because they spoke Spanish the front desk took their concerns over ours, even though we called them (almost fighting). Honestly, I would never visit this location ever again. If I did go back to Puerto Rico, I would try Marriott over Hilton, it was just that bad.
