Relaxed
You will have to bear with me on this, our experience was amazing, apart from the things that bit my ankles to death, (possible sand flys because of the hight). The building work, which we were notified about, didn't bother us,but there was a bit of it, and if we had a room overlooking it, it may have been different. I have to give high praise to krystal (guests services) for her service, when we had a water leak, and also this year the staff service seemed much better, last year was questionable. Overall this hotel got my heart. On a side note if anyone from the hotel or any hotel in the area reads this, maybe all the hotels can get together and help employ someone to clean punta cana area outside the hotels, as last year we were with another couple ,who refuse to come back ,because of the state of the rubbish, which obviously effects your businesses (this isn't linked to any hotels themselfs)

Overall nice Resort
We had a good experience at this resort, the food was good the pool area was very nice, we knew about the construction but didn’t bother is too much , there is no good time for renovations, what we like the most was the signs by the chairs at the beach ,don’t leave your towels there and disappear for hrs , the only bad thing is the bus was 1/2 late for our return to the airport and he ran out of gas, go figure and the constant reminder of don’t forget to tips, it’s not up to the clients to pay your staff

Catalonia Bavaro Resort – Punta Cana – November 19-26 2025
For the most part, the Resort, food, beach and pool were good. We watched a review on YouTube, which was the main reason we picked this resort. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPxAFi0-3z4&list=PLfjbj_t1JhNx7Jec8FJ_7law9JaoT9WJp&index=2 We booked PRIVILEGED. This should have gave our group beach front rooms, based on all the information they had on their website. The problem, since this video was created, a number of things changed. They changed Restaurant names, so the map from their website no longer matched what was on site. Also, as we booked Privileged rooms, we expected to be on the beach. In reality, they were on one side of the Resort, in Building 10. Not near the beach! They have since (the video) added their own EXCLUSIVE TRAVELLER CLUB, which now use what was once the Privileged buildings. Also, because of this, the Beach Bar, from the website, is no longer for the Privileged, but for the Exclusive. The same holds true for the private Lobby Bar. They added a small beach bar for the Privileged. Where one was a very large and nice bar, with a seating are, now we got a very small one, with no seating. As with every other time we travelled, we expected an orientation meeting when we arrived. What we got was a 3 hour sales pitch for the Exclusive Traveler Club, a 10 year, $17,000+ Canadian investment. For our room, it did match the website, but we never had working Air Conditioning. We had called them a number of times, went to the Front Desk, and Customer Service. All we got was a worker come and take a picture of the thermostat. Because of the temperature and humidity in the room, we were infested with mosquitoes. None of the others in our group had this problem. They had rooms around 20 degrees. Every time we arrived back in our room, we went on a killing spree to clear the room as much as we could. Another couple in our group, when they inspected their room, they found lipstick and makeup on the pillows, what they thought was pubic hair between the sheets, and around the toilet. The floors and tables were very dirty and stained as well. They asked to change their room, and if they couldn’t, they were looking for flights to return to Canada. In the end, they were fine. I feel that there is an element of FALSE ADVERTISMENT happening when what is on a Website doesn't match reality!! Other websites like Sunwing also use the same false information.

Despite the Resort, It was Fun
This is a nice resort....dated, but nice. The pool area is beautiful. The Beach is nice and well taken care of, although you should be ready for rocks and seaweed once in the water. The food is okay....not terrible ...not great. The steakhouse was probably the best of the restaurants, but remember , this isn't Ruth's Chris. The staff range from pleasant to downright miserable. Special mention to Irrael for great service in the beach bar. We were in the "Privileged " section, which as we discovered , gives you nothing much in the way of service. Sometimes you would be served at the beach...mostly not. We were a group of 16 people celebrating our Anniversary. The Resort offered us absolutely nothing as the anniversary couple. As a group , we had 8 rooms, and everyone experienced something different. Air conditioning going out....no phone in the room to call the lobby....one flat pillow per person.....electricity and water went out for 10 minutes ( across the country I heard )....Safe's not working....some with towels, some not....some with hammocks..some not. We played the golf course....one of the worst I have ever played....not worth $ 63 US....should be free., or perhaps $ 10. If you ask for a trolley, as we did to pick up our elderly Mother, it's hit and miss whether they show up. In summary, we had a great time because of friends and beautiful weather . The food and miserable staff and things breaking were just things we accepted and still enjoyed ourselves. However, we will spend a bit more money next time and choose a different resort.
