  Great Resort

  We stayed at Catalonia Royal Bavaro. We loved the resort. The adults only feature offers a nice mellow atmosphere. The rooms were quite comfortable , clean and with nice views. We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The front desk staff we dealt with were Ana, Pamela and Gabriela. They were very friendly, helpful and professional. The dining room staff were attentive and friendly, marking sure we had what we needed. Breakfast buffet was great., especially with Chef Jose cooking up omelets for us every morning with a friendly smile. The cleaning staff always greeted you with a smile. The sandy beach was picturesque and relaxing. The layout of the resort makes it easy to get around. The 9 hole golf course was also quite enjoyable. We would definitely stay at The Catalonia Royal Bavaro Resort again. We definitely felt we got our moneys worth staying there. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay enjoyable. Gracias!! Ola!!

  Honest review

  Stay: January 18–25, 2026 Room: 3636 – Privileged Deluxe (Adults Side) Overall, we had a good stay and enjoyed our time, though there were a few issues worth mentioning. Our room had a couple of maintenance problems. The TV didn’t work (not a huge deal for us), but the main issue was the air conditioning. It was set to 16°C but consistently showed 23–24°C. We requested maintenance a few times, but no one ever came. I did mention it again at checkout so hopefully it’s fixed before the next guests. The room itself was a bit dated, with some visible wall damage. On the positive side, we always had hot water and the water pressure was excellent. The resort itself was very clean. Public bathrooms were consistently well maintained, and the workers worked extremely hard every day to clean up the seaweed on the beach, which we really appreciated. The staff were fantastic across the resort. The beach servers in particular were amazing — always attentive and on top of things. Making dinner reservations through the app was difficult, as the restaurants we really wanted were always fully booked. However, when we walked down to Ayami and explained the situation, the host was AMAZING and got us in — excellent service. Restaurant highlights: • Ayami – The chef was fun and very entertaining, and the food was amazing • Mamma Mia – Very good, especially the pasta • Thalassa – Great lunch and dinner menus, and a solid breakfast buffet • Sorrento – Not bad, but if you prefer thin crust pizza, this isn’t the place • Bloved – Not for me, though my husband didn’t mind it • Family buffet – Huge with tons of options, almost too much 😅 (we only went once) Entertainment was decent. I really enjoyed the circus show. Unfortunately, the beach party was rained out. You can tell the entertainment staff work hard to put on good performances. We didn’t visit the casino. The beach was beautiful and there was never a shortage of loungers there. Pool loungers, however, were a different story. If you want a pool day, you need to get there early to save a spot, even though pool rules say reserving chairs isn’t allowed — everyone does it, and staff seem to allow it. At check-in, the concierge offers a free gift and breakfast in exchange for attending a vacation club presentation. We politely declined since we like trying different resorts, and they completely respected that. As for beach vendors, some will take no for an answer, while others can be quite pushy. All in all, it’s not a bad resort. Despite a few hiccups, we enjoyed our stay.

  4 Day Getaway

  We stayed 4 nights @ Catalonia Royal Bavaro in mid January. The location of this resort is ideal. It was 22 min with a private transfer from airport to resort. We arrived at 4PM and there was no lineup for check in. It took 8 min max. Very wonder service from the front desk team. As always in most all inclusive resorts, the concierge greeted me and wanted to set up a breakfast meeting for me to give me a “gift” As a Canadian, I am just not interested to be sold something on my 4 night vacation. He admitted that he received points & money for these types of arrangements. We were in a Privledged Junior Suite room. The room was huge, yes quite dated, but had no issues. I have to note the amazing shower in the bathroom. The Bed was very firm and uncomfortable but better than being too soft I guess. Beach: White powder sand, lots of loungers and the privledged section had adjustable daybeds which made it easy to lounge at the beach. The water was a bit cloudy but the seaweed was not much of an issue. They cleaned it up well all day when it was there. Pools. 2 pools. I only went to the infinity pool (not really an infinity pool but it’s huge and a great location. Close to a restaurant for lunch and steps away from the beach. Restaurants/Food. the food was typical for the level of resort. Had lots of misses and a few hits. Had a nice dinner @ Tao DInner Buffet at the Family side was good but total chaos and very busy. Dinner @ Steakville was very good. The breakfast at Beloved would be my recommendation for breakfast. The Beach food truck never opened while we were there. The snacks beside Beloved were a good replacement. Highly recommend Catalonia Royal Bavaro Resort.

  Another great visit

  This is our 3rd visit in 12 months. A great stay. the team is always there to help you out to ensure a perfect vacation experience. we are already scheduling our next visit.

  New Hockey Fans in the Dominican Republic

  The week at the Catalonia Royal Bavaro was excellent. The trip started with the pleasant, professional and helpful Ana and Gabriella, during check in. They were very accommodating and may be new hockey fans! Well done ladies. The food was outstanding, the rooms were clean and staff were always courteous and sought customer satisfaction. My only complaint is stocking only one beer-Presidente. Your customers deserve a more varied choice of beer including imports.
