Overall A Good Experience
We just returned from a week long stay. This trip quickly came together since we were supposed to go to Cuba, and our flights were cancelled. This is a very nice hotel- so it may have been a little lost on my husband and I. We went just the two of us, and kept to ourselves for the week. When we arrived check in took about 45 minutes, however we did get upgraded to a swim out room, which was lovely. We were away from the main lobby area, so our area was quiet and we enjoyed our time together. The drinks were great. The main lobby bar had the best drinks, while the strongest drinks were in the family area. The last couple of days, staff started to make their own adjustments to drinks that didn't suit us. For instance I asked for a Mojito and they just added passion fruit to it. I didn't finish those drinks. At the swim up bar I had asked for a Passion, the bartender said I have something better for you and gave me a drink that they had already made in the blender for someone else. I am allergic to banana, and had been avoiding drinks with bananas. When I asked if there was banana, they said no and then asked if I was allergic, and I said yes as they took it quickly away from me as there was banana liquor. The food at the buffets was great. A large variety of food and would be a little different throughout the week. At the beginning of the week, they tended to label everything, but slowly started to label less and less. We had to guess a lot of the time, so steered clear of things that we were not used to. We could have done without the restaurants. The food wasn't consistent, and they ran out of some of the food that I was excited to try on the menu. We ate twice at the Italian restaurant and at the Asian restaurant. The first meals at both were great, the second were not. I will admit I am picky, but I also have a lot of uneasiness with uncooked meat. The meat at the Asian restaurant was cooked perfectly. The second time, the sauce was different, and the meat wasn't cooked well. My husband and another person on our bus back to the airport had a burger from the pool bar snack back on the adults side and got sick. My husband was in bed for about a day and a half. The resort itself was so well kept. There were crews out all day fixing things and maintaining the grounds. We struggled with the housekeeping staff. We would get a knock at the door and yell "no thank you" and they would still enter the room. They entered the room when we were napping, I was using the bathroom and when we were sleeping at the end of the night. After the third day of this, any time we were in the room we would place the "Do not disturb" sign on the door- but it often would blow off or get knocked off of the door handle. We would spend time in our room, but often tried to get of the room in the morning to allow them to clean. There was a day we were at the beach for 3 hours, came back for some air conditioning and then again out of the two hours, and they still hadn't cleaned our room. When we left for dinner, we passed a housekeeping staff who asked "can we clean the room now?" We tipped well. We noticed we were one of the few who did tip. We had a good relationship with the staff, often got extra drinks, people remembered who we were the whole week and we had great service from the hotel staff, food service workers and bar staff. Our second last day we were playing pool and one of the bar staff (I wish I remember their name) walked out of the bar with peanuts and two beers for us. We were kind and respectful to the staff, so I think this helped too. We also had some tricky moments with other guests. Guests were abrasive, entitled and quite rude. We witnessed people walk to the buffet counter and knock on the counter and just said "table". I witnessed someone scream at a bartender because they were going to add something to their drink that they didn't like. Our first breakfast we were approached quite aggressively by another guest and it made us extremely uneasy. We had just arrived to the counter at the buffet, explained that we had two people and were going to get seated when these two guests became upset and aggressively asked why they were not being seated first- they had appeared to be there for a long time waiting. The staff member said that there were four of them and two of us, it was going to take longer for them to be seated. Apparently they wanted to be seated as two, and we were asked to wait by the staff member. We were a little confused at the entire context of the situation and when the guest started to explain it to us what was happening, we must of looked confused as we had just arrived by they very aggressively asked my husband "What do you have a problem?" My husband patiently said no and I told them they can do what they need to do. It was extremely surprising. We didn't go in the ocean and we didn't attend any of the extra activities/parties/entertainment as it is not our interest. This is a beautiful resort, and when you are kind to the staff you are treated well. We are very grateful for the time away and the beautiful memories that were made. However, some of the parts of the vacation left us wondering if we would be returning or not. If you are looking for a party resort- this is not it- it was very quiet and the entertainment/later activities allowed for more laid back involvement. A beautiful resort, but at times did not meet expectations of a five star resort.

Small but nice location
Small but beautiful location. Decent place for snorkeling. They built artificial coral reefs to attract fish. Great choices of food to eat everywhere. It’s just a bit complicated to make reservations for most of these places. The beach was very nice, but you have to get there early in the morning to secure a good sitting spot. Most employees are very friendly and hardworking. Sequetel was a very friendly employee who came to us and talked about his passion for music, which is what I do for a living. Very patient and friendly to help us practice our Spanish. Just a week is enough to have a good stay over there.
