    Staff make this place AMAZING

We spent 10 days as privilege guests and had a wonderful vacation. The people, the food and the drinks were certainly next level but we paid for that as well. Daniel in guest services went above and beyond every time we saw him. Paulina, Regina and Diego on the entertainment staff were great. Regina the drink server on the beach was wonderful and always pleasant. The a la carte restaurants were delicious but often had problems with the AC as did our room. The beach was wonderful and they tried to clean it but the equipment was not sufficient. We are not big party people or late night folks but a little more action around the pool and beach in the afternoon would be great….even music at the swimup bar would be a plus. The no smoking rule should be better enforced…at least have a designated area away from other guests. We had an excellent vacation and would certainly recommend this resort. With just a few small adjustments it would perfect. Thanks CRT

Fourth time to Mexico; an honest Canadian review!

My husband and I stayed at the Catalonia Royal Tulum from Apr. 26- May 4th 2024. The beach/ ocean is AMAZING. Crystal clear blue waters and fine white sand beach. It was windy the first few days we were there so the sargassum blew in. The crews were diligent in cleaning up the beach everyday (the best that they could because sometimes it’s just a losing battle!) There is plenty of beach to walk which we did every day in both directions!! We had a blast playing in the waves. Bring your goggles if you’re a swimmer! There are small reefs and fish so bring your snorkel and fins too! There is a snorkelling booth on site and you can pay to go out for an hour with a guide. We had Marco and he took us to a nearby reef where we saw plenty of coral, tropical fish and even a spotted eagle ray! You can also just swim out yourself and find fish and sting rays on your own. The resort itself was very lush and jungly. I enjoyed my walks to the pool on the cobblestone walk ways, and you’ll pass by many iguanas and coatis. If you have mobility issues you may find the walking difficult. The resort was also very clean and well maintained! Our room was spotless everyday and included a turn down service in the evening. Our king bed was COMFY! My only comment would be for cleaning staff to take a mop to the balconies every other day as there were pee spots from wild life or bats or birds. It got a bit smelly. Other than that our balcony view was of the palm and mangrove trees which was cool. We could see coati nests and birds and there was plenty of wildlife to watch. We spent most of our time beside the pool which was great! Other reviews say the pool was shallow when in fact it’s plenty deep. My husband is 6’2 and the water was up to his chest. I’m 5’4” and the water was up to under my chin. Bring a pool float! I also recommend being an early bird! We were at the pool by 7:30am each day. We would throw our towels, bags, and books down and go for breakfast at La Palapa. Our belongings never got moved or stolen. Quetzabel and Astrid always greeted us with smiles at La Palapa and were very professional and super kind!! For our a la cartes we ate twice at the Grille where we had Juan and David as our servers. Again, they were very kind, attentive and quick on the refills! Order the Tenderloin- it was fantastic! Tanner at the Rauxa restaurant was also very attentive to us and worked his butt off the night we were there, along with the other servers who made that evening a success before the show! A shout out also to Diego from the entertainment team who would walk around the pool and check in to see how everyone’s vacation was going. He is very energetic and personable and kept the mood up around the pool. One last shout out to Mildred, one of the pool servers who made sure drink glasses were cleared and would also grab you another drink by the pool! For food- there’s only a buffet dinner one night of the week which is Saturday. You have to book your a La cartes online which always went smoothly for us. Compared to other resorts I found there wasn’t much option at the a la carte dinners, but that’s not to say what they had wasn’t good! We definitely didn’t go hungry. We loved not having to carry a key card with us. Your bracelet on arrival is your key card for your room! We also enjoyed the fact that this is a smaller resort. All in all the staff were wonderful, we can’t say enough about how hard everyone works and how they very much seem like a family at the Catalonia. The grounds were impeccable and Xpu Ha beach is probably the best beach in the whole Mayan in my opinion! Thank you to everyone at the Catalonia Royal Tulum for a wonderful stay 😊
