Stunning Beach , Sand and Water!
Just checked out of this resort Jan / 2026. Honest , non bias review … Beach is absolutely stunning!! 5 stars White sand , turquoise water ! Not overcrowded . Always easy to find a lounge chair! They allow you to place anywhere you want! Con: neighboring properties (if you like to walk the beach ) are pretty run down or just public beach restaurants . (Not glamorous) Pool is beautiful. Great gym , loved the spa too Staff were very nice and welcoming although service slow at times . Rooms were just ok , bit damp smelling and walls are thin. Did not appreciate hearing the happy humpers next door 24/7 :0 Like seriously 😐 Was very clean tho , views are into the jungle (no water or sun views) so rooms quite dark . If you stay in building 1 you are close to lobby but further from beach . If you stay in building 5 you are further from lobby but closer to beach and pool . Keep in mind no elevators and 3 levels so book 1st floor if you have mobility issues! Food was incredible and yes reservations required which didn’t bother us at all. I’m laughing at those who thought needing resos was an inconvenience. Go to the buffet then . Be sure when you book you have access to BLoved . Beautiful breakfast / lunch restaurant overlooking the beach! (See pic!) The biggest negative and reason I won’t be back : Too many ignorant European smokers that line the only path through the resort with disgusting smoke and cigarette butts , zero consideration for others and often smoked right on the beach and around the pools . I actually had to stop a woman from France from continually burying her cigarette butts in the sand!!! Absolutely no consideration for those around them. There are designated smoking areas but staff do not seem interested in enforcing them. For this reason I will not be back , it does not feel like a non smoking resort (smoking everywhere was disgusting!) and it makes me sad because I absolutely loved everything else!! Staff needs to do a better job enforcing the smoking rules. Period.

What a beautiful experience
I have been wanting to stay at this resort for years. My husband always wanted to go to other Adults Only resorts that were much more expensive, so we had passed on this resort. We have been going to this part of Mexico for 30 years now. We have stayed at the other 2 Catalonias in the past when we had our young son and more on a budget. We have ALWAYS had a wonderful stay. That's why I wanted to try this resort but was overruled by my husband. I finally got my husband to reluctantly try this resort, and he absolutely was blown away. The beach is the most beautiful beach in the RM. The restaurants were all wonderful, especially the steak house. We did do the Privilege room so we're were able to eat at the Beloved. The Beloved service was soooooo slow!!! That is my only complaint about the restaurants. All the staff is very friendly and happy. Some of the English spoken at this resort is not very well. Some orders were lost in translation, but easily rectified. Overall the staff is wonderful. I had a wonderful spa treatment. The price was very reasonable. 204 .00 USD for a body scrub, massage, and facial. Almost a 2 hour treatment. Definitely worth it. Now we have stayed at a few more expensive resorts that were double what we paid here and left disappointed with the food and service. The value at this resort for the food and beautiful beach experience is unmatched. If you're looking for a more luxurious room amenities is the big major difference of why this resort is probably less money. Our room was very clean, comfortable and perfectly fine for a basic hotel room. We had the Privilege Deluxe. There is no jacuzzi or hot tub like other Adults Only. I'm surprised there are no rooms with that option. We had the jacuzzi at the Catalonia Maroma and it was amazing. So we spent all our time on the beach and bars instead. The pool and beach had plenty of lounge chairs and you never had to fight for a lounge chair. I stayed at the expensive resorts and had to steak out your chairs early or you didn't get one. This was NEVER a problem at any of the Catalonia resorts. This resort is just a beautiful, relaxing, slow paced , very romantic resort. There is no butler or concierge people. But we were able to always make dinner reservations and get the time we wanted. No limits on restaurants. You can eat in any as many times as you like. The Japanese is absolutely breathtaking and romantic. Its outside by the cenote. The steak house and Italian were also wonderful. I recommend this resort highly. The Privilege package is recommended because you can get your drinks at the Beloved bar instead of the pool bar. Their drinks are better than the pool bar. We never ate at the buffet because it was pretty busy and there was always a waiting line. The Beloved was nice to be able to eat and skip the buffet. This resort does miss on some small details. Their app to make reservations does not work if you made your reservation stay on a third party website. So all dinner reservations had to be made by the front desk. We called to have our luggage picked up on departure day and they never came. Room service didn't pick up phone on the only day we tried. The front desk had to put order in and it was wrong. But none of that will stop us from returning.

The entertainment team are fantastic! Paulina, Eddie, Erik, Jaidyd and Diego are amazing! Great fun and very friendly! Lots of activities - dance lessons, karaoke, aqua gym and great evening shows! So much to do! We will be coming back!

Beautiful resort with unbelievably friendly staff
We had an all-around wonderful stay at this hotel! The entire property is truly beautiful — very well maintained, lots of greenery, a great pool, beautiful beach, and you immediately feel like you are on vacation. We especially want to highlight the staff. Everyone was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always in a good mood. You can really tell they work with heart here. A very big thank you to Javier, Elias, and Noe from the Lobby Bar — you made our evenings even better every day! Great service, always a smile, and very pleasant conversations. You immediately feel welcome. We would gladly come back anytime and can absolutely recommend this hotel!

Fantastic resort no need to look any further
Absolutely the best all inclusive we have ever been to. Food, drinks and cleanliness were all top notch. Overall the resort is very clean we even observed the crew cleaning the poolside umbrella bases and floating swans one morning before breakfast. The Wi-Fi is strong everywhere through out the resort if you needed to work or wanted to stream something. The little animals roaming around were cute and photogenic with no other “signs” of their presence. Always enough hot water and our shower was amazing. Quetzabel is the best ambassador for the entire resort. Her smile and friendly banter was a wonderful way to start your day as you arrived to the breakfast/lunch buffet. The food was great, never any long lines, very tasty with a huge variety for everyone’s palette. The pool side restaurant became a quick favourite of ours for lunch for their fast yet good food. No dinner buffet but all of the restaurants were good but we especially enjoyed the Italian and Asian ones. There was never a problem finding a place to sit at the pool or the beach where we spent all day long but would have liked more places with some shade. A few of the umbrellas closer or in the pool would help as the sun could be intense and no place to hide but the bar areas. The entertainment staff were fun during the day (the night entertainment was too late for us starting at 9:45 after we were poolside for 9 hours we were in bed) and the aqua fit class with Jaydid was a no joke good arm work out. Observations. Not sure if the privilege package is worth it. There is ample wait staff pool and beach side who will fetch your drinks. It does give you one more restaurant to pick from but that wasn’t a huge perk in our opinion after trying the others. For ease you need to be connected to your cellphone or iPad for dinner reservations down to ordering room service as nothing was printed. If you’re looking to disconnect it makes this more awkward. Water pressure seems to be weak at times as when you flushed the toilet there was a high pitched whine noise which was annoying but fine during the day but in the middle of the night and a slumbering partner that would waken them.
