  70th Birthday in Negril, Jamaica

  It is a lovely hotel with waterfront dining and 2 pools. We had beach front rooms. Perfect! In the morning I got up, put on a bathing suit, opened the doors and had my coffee at the table meant for the room. You get 2 lounge chairs also. I walked the beach and love to go shelling. They rake the beach every day. There are many but you can find some. You can go to breakfast in your bathing suit & cover up. They have a free continental breakfast. They had a manager's night with music, lots of h'orderves and drinks. The only negative was that they do not give you any water. It is very hot in September in Jamaica and you need lots of water. I have never stayed at a hotel that doesn't give their guests water.

  Transactional and money-led

  We had a lovely week in Negril and there are things we genuinely liked about Coco La Palm, particularly the location and many of the staff, who were warm, friendly and clearly doing their best. However, I came away quite disappointed by the overall approach to hospitality and management. This trip was for my 40th birthday and we contacted the hotel twice in advance to mention that we were celebrating a milestone birthday. I wasn’t expecting anything extravagant, but there was absolutely no acknowledgement whatsoever. Not even a simple “happy birthday”. For a hotel operating in the special-occasion/holiday market, that felt surprisingly indifferent. Our original room was also a real disappointment and we ended up paying extra to upgrade once we arrived. Throughout the stay, we increasingly got the sense that almost everything came back to an additional charge. Individually, those things may seem small, but collectively it left the hotel feeling much more transactional than hospitable. What makes that particularly frustrating is that the staff themselves were generally lovely. My criticism is not aimed at the people working day to day around the hotel — if anything, they often seemed to be doing their best within the system they were working in. It felt more like a management culture where the commercial bottom line takes priority over making guests feel genuinely looked after. We still had an incredible holiday because Negril itself is wonderful, but for a milestone trip I had expected a little more warmth and care from the hotel itself. Coco La Palm has an amazing location and plenty going for it, but the hospitality side needs to feel less like “what can we charge for?” and more like actually valuing each individual guest

  Great beach hotel in Negril...

  ...recently returned from staying at Coco LaPalm and had a great experience. It's a super location on the beach, the rooms are spacious, the staff is nice and they serve a good little continental breakfast (included with your stay). The restaurant is ok for a full breakfast; lunch and dinner are not great IMHO. That being said, the rest of the Coco LaPalm experience was really great and I can recommend.

  nice beachfront property

  I really enjoyed my time here! The rooms are fine, the location is great, and the staff are friendly. It is perfectly situated on the beach, with a restaurant and beach bar right there. Everyone who works there was friendly and helpful. I absolutely recommend!

  Great location, cost efficient.

  Basic place right in the heart of Negril. Only downside is WiFi is not guaranteed to work in the rooms.
